We originally stayed at a villa near St Cirq Lapopie 25 years ago on honeymoon, so to celebrate our Silver wedding we revisited the area. My husband booked Coeur de Lion through the owner Charles, who was so attentive before our visit, advising things to do, places to eat, places to visit, Kayaking from the beach on the river etc. We enjoyed a memorable stay in his very lovely home. You could spend your days lazing around St Cirq Lapopie but it is also easily accessible for places worth a visit like Rocamadour and the caves of Pech-Merle. You are also spoilt for wonderful places to eat like L'Oustal to name but a few where you can walk to without worrying about having to drive! Our highlight was revisiting our honeymoon spot, a restaurant in the nearby village of Calignac called La Terrasse Romantique which was still run by the wonderful artist Daniel, it is exactly the same, we visited on a night of a storm where we had the most magical night!

Additional amenities & feature info
With lots of light and wonderful views from its many windows, this beautiful stone house, with its red terra cotta roof, was built in the 13th Century, now being fully renovated for the 21st Century. It has been designed to provide all the conveniences of a modern home yet retains the charm of its ancient history.

A tall glass arch offers day-long southern exposure, and its entry door, fashioned from an oak wine vat found on the property, delivers you into the open-style main floor, with its gourmet kitchen, dining area, and living room.

The house has been designed to provide all the typical modern amenities-- dishwasher, washing machine, dryer, internet, telephone, dvd player, and a kitchen fully stocked with pots, pans, and the other necessities for gourmet cooking and fin...

Additional Rate and Availability Information
Our weekly rate (between April and October) is: $2500 USD/1800 Euros/1565 Pounds. $500 (USD) discount for two-week stay (which we highly recommend, there is so much to do). Discount for couples, or smaller parties-- this is a spacious house, but still wonderfully comfortable for a single couple or two.

The house is typically rented from Saturday to Saturday. (Check-in 4PM to 6PM, check-out by 10AM)

It is also available off season for monthly or longer-term rentals at very reasonable rates. The village is VERY quiet off season--ideal for writing, painting, contemplating, relaxing.

We accept payment by PayPal, bank transfer, or check. Note: we can only offer refunds if the house is re-rented. Also, you are responsible for any bank or PayPal fees (typically around 3%)

A damage deposit of 200 Euros is required at check in.

There is a surcharge of 0.15 Euro/KWH for electricity beyond 100KWH allowance, but average use is most typically below 100KWH.

About the neighborhood
In addition to visiting museums, castles, and historic sites, sunbathing on the sandy beach, swimming, bicycling, castle-gazing, canoeing, cave exploring, wandering the galleries and shops of the village (all the activities mentioned earlier), here are some additional pleasures of the region:

Wine and Vineyards--

Cahors is one of the oldest wine-growing areas in France. In the Middle Ages the region produced far more wine – and of a higher quality – than neighboring Bordeaux. Cahors exported more than three times its current annual production to England alone. At the end of the 19th C, the phylloxera completely wiped out most local wine-growers.

Luckily, new vines were imported and since the 1970s, Cahors has once more become established as a fine quality wine. It is genera...
