UPDATE: REVIEWS-- we've received nothing but 5-star rave reviews from guests since we began renting in 2012. But most of our business does not come through Flipkey, so you'll have to look for those reviews on other sites. You can search for 'Dream House, Mythic Village' and find set of recent reviews.

(Please Note: we love vacation rentals out in the country with pools--Europe has thousands of them. Yet for a truly unique experience of culture, cuisine, history, and romance, whether you're a family, a couple, or a gathering of colleagues or friends, there is nothing like living in your own private home in this fairytale village in this extraordinary region of France. It's a vacation you won't experience anywh...

We originally stayed at a villa near St Cirq Lapopie 25 years ago on honeymoon, so to celebrate our Silver wedding we revisited the area. My husband booked Coeur de Lion through the owner Charles, who was so attentive before our visit, advising things to do, places to eat, places to visit, Kayaking from the beach on the river etc. We enjoyed a memorable stay in his very lovely home. You could spend your days lazing around St Cirq Lapopie but it is also easily accessible for places worth a visit like Rocamadour and the caves of Pech-Merle. You are also spoilt for wonderful places to eat like L'Oustal to name but a few where you can walk to without worrying about having to drive! Our highlight was revisiting our honeymoon spot, a restaurant in the nearby village of Calignac called La Terrasse Romantique which was still run by the wonderful artist Daniel, it is exactly the same, we visited on a night of a storm where we had the most magical night!

About the neighborhood
There is nothing like living in a medieval village in a fully renovated medieval home, with beauty and history at every turn, not only within the town, but within the house as well. The light, the location, the living space, make this a very special place for a vacation with family, for a family reunion, for a couples getaway, or a gathering of friends. The layout, while designed to sleep up to 10 people, with five bedrooms and three full bathrooms, has an openness and comfort that even a single couple or small family can enjoy.
In addition to the great pleasure of having a house in such a special village, this particular house, a characteristic stone house with its familiar red-tiled roof, was built about the 13th Century and has the charm of history (for example, an archer&...
