It is situated in a spacious, private 3 acre development in St Martins, St Philip, Barbados on the South East of the island. It was designed and built by a leading Barbadian architect Michael Lashley along with 3 other houses on the site and his Architect's office. There is a communal pond and trees and plenty of space to reflect and relax away from the hustle and bustle of the world. Zion house has a very simple homely feel about it and is very quiet and tranquil. Although the immediate environment around the house is quiet and spacious the house is within 5 minutes walking distance to a supermarket, Rum shop (Bajan pub) convenience store.
Our closest beach is Foul Bay at 5 mins drive or 20 minute walk. This is quiet beautiful, white sands beach perfect for sunbathing. Also suitable for swimming for fairly confident swimmers and brilliant if you like bodyboarding. Crane Beach and the Crane Resort is a short bus, cycle or drive away. The beach has been rated as one of 10 best beaches in the world. If you are a non swimmer or want a busier time at the beach we suggest Miami Beach at Oistins. This is a lifeguarded beach and has still calm crystal clear blue Caribbean waters that Barbados is famed for which you can reach by bus or car in about 20 minutes.

A simple, light, bright environment - spacious and clutter free
An evolving project
We offer the house and the basement space to let for holidays and organised retreats
My first visit to Barbados staying at wonderful Zion House for 5 weeks as my base. I originally visited to go to the week long Reggae Festival which was at the end of April and is fantastic with atmosphere and energy reminiscent of a live Bob Marley concert! Zion House has stuning good looks that made me fall in love with the place from the first time we met! Great architectural design suited to make the most of the amazing bagan weather, a sea facing balcony and a raised 1st floor open plan spacious living space surrounded large ventilated windows and by light and garden views. The living space is tiled throughout in cool terracotta with large rugs and settie in the comfortable lounge area. There are double louvred doors opening onto the seated balcony that when open let's in to the house a continuous cool but gentle sea breeze removing any need for air conditioning! Sitting and relaxing on the balcony as I did every day raised one floor up with this amazing cool breeze was a serious credit to the house and its architect! The spacious and airy living space also has a large dining table perfect for group or familly meals. Adjacent to this next to the open 2nd floor staircase is a small but fully equipped, clean kitchen with traditional white louvred cupboard doors is where I used to cater for myself most of the time. At the back of the living space is a convenient toilet with wash basin and a functional laundry room. Upstairs is a large spacious landing that looks over the large open plan space below with a clean familly bathroom a separate toilet washbasin with dressing mirror above. Off the landing are a light and airy double bedroom and second double bedroom. There is also a back door to give access to the large rear garden area frequented most mornings and evenings by a large familly of green monkeys offering the ultimate in fun and entertainment. Outside there is easy access to the independent ground floor fully equipped 2 person apartment with galley kitchen, living space with, double bedroom and bathroom. supplied with local produce from local shops a few minutes walk away. Here you will also find local bus stops to go to Oistins for local familly swimming beaches, entertainment and shopping hub. This bus route will eventually Bridgetown one direction and Sam Lords Castle and Bathsheba the other making getting about easy!
Zion house has a large garage below it with 2 folding bikes to use if you need to nip to he shop or explore! This makes getting to a fabulous white palm fringed beach at 'foul bay' easy in ten minutes! This is far from foul but an absolute secluded gem in paradise off the tourist trail that I reached almost every day, string up my hamock between 2 shady palm trees and to play my guitar! Absolutely recommend Zion House for location away from the husstle and bustle and hiked prices of the west coast. The beautifuly designed light and spacious Zion House gets five stars without hesitation! I was there by myself but it can easily cater for large familly groups! I plan to return for the 2018 reggae festival! Absolutely beautiful place!

Beautiful breezy house - perfect location
We were fortunate to stay here recently. The location is really convenient. There is something amazing about landing on the island and being welcomed inside Zion House within 5 minutes! Swim suit on and refreshing drink within another 10 minutes! Beach side Dinner plans within another 10mins ! The house is on a private estate, so quiet, serene and breezy. Home from home with everything you need. To us it was zen style and decor a relaxed vibe. Feels island style and modern.
We followed the useful information pack provided by the owners and visited the close by Foul, Miami and Crane Beaches. We also liked Dove Beach a lot in Oistins entered via sea fans restaurant - loved lunch here. Plus midday happy hour. the area is easy to walk around to get meals and sunchairs on the beach. We highly recommend a sailing tour called "Good Times Too". They picked us up at Zion house and we drove to the west coast - a lovely drive and boarded the cataraman. The snorkelling was like jumping into an aquarium ! Turtles multi coloured fish and a shipwreck. The boat and service was luxurious. Zion house is well thought it even simple things like washing lines as you enter to hand your towels, house telephone, cell phones - to borrow - large fridge for bottles of water - as well as essentials like brilliant wifi, The info books/maps kitchen condiments for example seasonings and oil & sugar make all the difference. Lots of towels also.
The house managers Rosita & Michael took us to the supermarket on our fist day which was really kind and also dropped us to the Crane the next morning. We are early risers!
We made a hearty breakfast daily- and found cooked food easy to pick up road side or in supermarkets at the deli counter. We ate out when we wanted. Expericed some lovely sunsets. We returned to Crane and ate lunch at the Carriage and enjoyed the pool. We went there one evening for drinks and live music.
It's Just a few minutes by bus or taxi.
We got a car rental for a few days - good roads and easy to explore, we put on our navigation on the phone. Once you press GO whilst in wifi it doesn't use your data - even when you leave the wifi. ABC highway connects to most places and traffic always flowed. We did the Concorde Experience & visited the Sheraton mall - good
Shops and food court, also movie
theatre it's approx 15-20 mins minutes drive from Zion. We enjoyed Luna restaurant on Miami Beach ( this beach has free picnic benches so we took a take way Lunch from the villages supermarket on another day) All in all a wonderful time for couples or a family. We had teens with us & you know when they are super happy it means it must be good !😊

Lovely, airy house in tranquil garden setting, very near beaches.
Zion House is very special, owned and run by caring people, Set in a large garden,it is a perfect place for a retreat but also a place to relax, or for children to run around. I went to paint so the setting was ideal.
It is very near a good supermarket, and buses to the seaside. It is in a quiet and friendly neighbourhood so you can feel part of island life. I can think of no better place to stay in Barbados. Heaven on Earth!

A pretty, peaceful, airy home!
Zion House is such a pretty, peaceful, airy home!
We enjoyed being in the house. In the mornings, we sat on the round balcony overlooking the pond and watched the monkeys. We saw half a dozen one morning; two with babies clinging to their undersides.
Other points of note about Zion House:
• It is in the quiet, southeast, so it feels more local and authentic.
• Close to the airport; great if your party isn’t all arriving on the same flight.
• Access to the beautiful beaches of the east coast: Foul Bay, Crane, Bathsheba.
• The house is unique, attractively designed; plus we got to meet the architect who lives next door.
• Comfortable beds: we appreciated the quality mattresses and the mosquito netting.
• The house is green: no a/c or ceiling fans. The solar-heated water was plentiful. There is a washing machine and a covered clothes line. There are recycling bins and a compost box.
• The kitchen is well-equipped; we prepared many of our own meals from local produce.
• For nice meals out there are places a 20 minute drive or less away: the Crane Resort for Sunday buffet, Oistins for fish fry, and St Lawerence Gap for cocktails and fun.

Tranquil and relaxing environment for a retreat
Quiet location providing a tranquil environment to recharge energy. Wonderful main living space with high ceilings, lots of light and cooling breezes. Comfortable bedrooms. Surrounded by garden with a wonderful yoga deck to start the day facing the rising sun, and a hammock under the palm trees. Safe area to be able to walk to the nearby cliff top or a longer walk to the beautiful beach at Foul Bay.
So blissful to spend two weeks here with friends nurturing myself at the start of the year.

Wonderful relaxing place
Perfect for our group. The house (we rented the entire property, including the basement apartment) was so affordable and accommodating. You will need a car to get around the island but this location is so much nicer and down to earth then the touristy areas. By staying here, we all were truly able to relax while going to those tourist places when we felt. LOVED LOVED LOVED Barbados and the locals. House is close to grocery and airport. Close to beaches and a short drive to magical Bathsheba. I will book here when we come back.

Peace at Last
I started the year at Zion House along with 5 other women on a glorious nurturing Yoga retreat. I especially enjoyed the daily practice on the deck and nurturing workshops in this harmonious, uplifting space. The second week, relaxed, nurtured and replenished from the workshops, the yoga but predominantly from the energy of the house, my husband joined me and we stayed alone in this idyllic space. It’s open plan living space was the43 perfect conductor of the Barbados breeze which piped gently through the house. We ate fresh fruits and vegetables from the market and we read, sunbathed, walked, or simply lounged in the house listening to music and getting to know each other again. We use public transport most of the week – which was so easy from this location - and enjoyed exploring this delightfully laid-back island. And whist most of the time we were content to eat at home, the occasional adventures into nearby towns to find fish or lobster we a real treat. I think every year should start this way. There is definitely a healing presence in Zion House. Thank you.

Perfect vacation villa for families.
We're a family with 3 small children who stayed in Zion House for 6 days. The house is spacious and bright and placed in a quiet neighborhood at the end of a road.
There are no AC or fans, but the design of the house makes these unnecessary as a breeze is always passing through the house if you open a few windows. On this trip we spent 7 weeks in the Caribbean and this was the first place where we didn't get any mosquito bites - perfect.
It's a 5 minute walk to the supermarket and 20 minutes to the nearby beach. If you have small children, Miami beach is better, as the waves there are relatively small. If you want to do sightseeing on Barbados, you'll either need a car, or use the local buses, which are actually quiet reliable.

Restful Retreat in the heart of Barbados
I arrived in Barbados for the first time. From my first step in the lovely sunshine I knew this time was going to be special. Zion House is about 15 minutes from the airport & I arrived at this lovely white & bright property. The views from the house are amazing as the nearest beach is a stones throw away! The most amazing sunrise - yes I was up to experience this.
The gentle breezes that rustle through the trees is so lovely & tranquil. An amazing place for yoga & meditation & quiet reflection. If you prefer some nightlife there are plenty of places to go including the famous Oistins http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oistins
There is a lovely kitchen area & local well stocked supermarket you can walk to.
The Balcony is ideal for relaxing, reading or even sunbathing! !
I recccommend this as the best place to stay for rest, & relaxation & fun!

Quiet, peaceful, tranquil sanctuary - a true gem
As soon as I landed in Barbados I felt at home, and staying at Zion House I felt I could stay forever! Perfect location if you enjoy being away from the tourists - the locals are friendly, welcoming and eager to help if you need directions. Very safe too - I walked around the area alone as a female and had no hassle. Only 20 minutes walk to a gorgeous, virtually empty beach with palm trees and blue sea. Bus stop at the end of the street to visit Bridgetown, Oistins and other beaches - Miami beach is great for swimming and hanging out with the locals. The house itself is clean, spacious and light, with an air of tranquility where you can't help but relax and appreciate life.
