The perfect place to stay in Finger Lakes
Our family of four (children aged 12 and 14) enjoyed our stay in the yurt. The yurt itself is perfect for a family of our size. The children liked to sleep upstairs, and we had a bedroom downstairs. There is a fully equipped kitchen where you can make your own food, and it’s great to be able to collect fresh eggs every day. The combined living room and kitchen worked very well for us. There is a nice and big dining table, and a good sofa to sit in. For smaller children there is a corner with smaller chairs and a table, and there are plenty of games and books there. Very nice. The bathroom is not big, but functional. The shower is good, and plenty of hot water. What we liked best about this stay is that you are living in the countryside in the middle of the beautiful nature of the Finger Lakes area. Michelle and her family are great hosts, and make you feel at ease and at home. Michelle has a wonderful garden, and as guests in the yurt you are invited to harvest from it. We were also invited to use the badminton court and our children loved that. We played for hours. Our children also loved feeding the fish in the pond, looking for the frogs and visiting the chickens. No need to go anywhere, you can spend the entire day at home. There is however so much to see in the Finger Lakes area, that you should plan for a longer stay, and at least walk some of the beautiful gorges in the area. We went to Robert Treman park and to Watkins Glen. Both very worth it. Watkins Glen is the one that is highest rated on TripAdvisor, but we enjoyed the one in Robert Treman park the most. It is a longer walk, and you see so many beautiful waterfalls. The best gorge experience though is without doubt the one that is next door to the yurt. You only have to walk five minutes from the house. There’s a path leading into the woods, and a small bell telling you that you’re on the right way. In the T-crossing, you take left, and after a short while you will have to climb down to the gorge. In the gorge you go to the right and follow the river upstream. At some parts you will have to get wet up to your waist to get through. We brought our swimwear and shoes that can get wet. Watershoes would be perfect. It is so beautiful there, and it is wonderful to be all alone there. I would highly recommend everyone to do this, and perhaps Michelle could make a simple map with some pictures and explanation, to make sure everyone finds their way. Ithaca is a natural place to go for shopping and restaurants, but there are also nice places to eat in Newfield, and the covered bridge there is worth the visit. We can recommend staying in the yurt. We had a wonderful time there. The only thing we didn’t enjoy was that the beds were too hard for us, especially the double bed. I have read that also some of the other guests has commented on this. I thought I wouldn’t mind, as I sleep well everywhere, but the bed here was not comfortable for me. I hope Michelle will do something about that, because that would make the yurt perfect.

WE LOVED THE YURT
It was more than we expected! Beautiful on the outside with gardens, fish ponds, and chicken coops! Our kids loved exploring. Inside was clean and inviting with fire already going, books and toys for kids, and everything we could have needed. We enjoyed feeding the fish, picking kale, hikes, visiting the chickens, playing games inside, and sleeping up in the loft as a family! Memories we will take with us until we return. Michelle was a lovely host!

First time staying in a yurt!
Wonderful experience staying in a yurt surrounded by woods, meadows, and gardens! Much more spacious than expected from the outside view. It was so relaxing to be in this peaceful setting. The owner was very hospitable, even encouraging us to pick vegetables from her garden and eggs from her chicken coop! An additional activity we enjoyed was feeding the goldfish in the ponds. My husband and I are already talking about visiting again in the not too distant future, especially since we also had a great time hiking in the Finger Lakes area with so many beautiful waterfalls!

Perfect long weekend!
We loved our stay at Michelle’s yurt! It was clean and comfortable for our family of four (two adults and two teenagers). Lots of towels and fully functioning kitchen with everything we needed for breakfast and light snacks. The kids loved getting eggs from the hen house for breakfast. Beautiful gardens and koi pond - wish we had time to use the fire pit in the field outside the front door. Wonderful short hike to the river and waterfalls - plus very comfortable beds!! Would definitely stay again!!

Cozy and cute!
We stayed at the end of April. We managed to get one nice day in for a hike, then enjoyed the wineries and restaurants. Climbing Vine had everything we needed, and we stayed warm on the chilly nights. Michelle is very accommodating and friendly. We enjoyed meeting her and her family very much!

St Paddys Day weekend fun couples weekend
Just coming off a great weekend in the yurt. It was a very cold weekend but that makes for great star gazing. It was very dark with no City lights so you could see all the constellations. The kitchen had a pot and pan, utenseils, plates and cups. The water was great from the faucet. Plan to bring zip locks or bowls. We needed to keep the pellets going for heat and a few time a night someone had to get up to do this. Michelle gives a personal lesson when you get there. She mentioned fresh eggs from the chickens but we had brought eggs. Upper loft comfy twin beds but the bedroom and futon may need a bit of cushioning if you don't like very firm beds. Nice radio and we brought games to play. Loved the trails. I would do this weekend again at the yurt but I bet summer is magical there.

Unique Experience in a Lovely Setting
Our family gathered for a weekend in Ithaca. This charming yurt provided a comfortable environment. Michelle was a welcoming hostess and we had everything we could need. The open area of a yurt was great for dining and late night discussions. A loft and one separate bedroom offered privacy. I was impressed at how well everything worked and was designed. The bathroom had a steady supply of hot water for the shower, the kitchen was well equipped. (NOTE: there is no microwave.) Outdoors, we took hikes in the woods, picked berries, gathered eggs, star-gazed and soaked up the beauty and diversity of Ithaca. We feel fortunate to have had this distinctive experience.

Awesome Experience
We enjoyed the stay very much. This is the first time we have stayed in yurt. The location is perfect for visiting the close by State parks. Everything in the yurt was well maintained and above my expectations. The owner was very courteous and allowed us to try fruits and vegetables in her garden. We enjoyed the fresh berries from her garden everyday. The surroundings of the yurt are very serene and after the whole day of hiking we had good timing relaxing in garden or playing badminton. We would definitely go back.

Amazing, peaceful location with a river in the back garden!
Climbing Vine Cottage was the perfect place to relax in the middle of our road trip around North East. The setting is beautiful with a private wood leading down to a river. The garden of the yurt is full of veg which Michelle, the owner, grows and is available to eat. The yurt is in a great location for the Buttermilk Falls and Robert Treman national parks as well. Michelle was a lovely "landlady" and provided us with lots of suggestions for trips. The children (14, 16 and 20) especially loved the river walk. Highly recommended and hopefully we can visit again.
