Overview
Rental Home -
4 Bedrooms , 4 Bathrooms , Sleeps 8
Larochemillay, Nievre, Bourgogne-Franche-Comte
Built in 1850, this lovely home still has a 13th century part attatched to it. Each room tastefully renovated, for your comfort. French linens, French antiques throughout the home. Rooms are serviced daily. Outlook on to the Place d'eglise where daily village life occurs. The studio which is attatched to our home is one of the oldest buildings in the village, built in the 12th century, and is decorated in French country style. The studio is very cosy, situated behind the main home in a quiet side lane, looking on to the courtyard, where guests can relax in the sun, to read or soak up the rays. There are 2 grape vines that guests can help themselves to when in season and ripe. You can also sit in our entertainment area on the Place d'eglise, and see and chat with the locals going about their lives.

About the neighborhood
A beautiful quiet rural area with rolling hills, and mountains to explore. We are situated in the Parc Regional du Morvan, which has many walks to hike, from easy to very hard, depending on how fit you feel. Many villages within 10 km to explore. A very historical area, dating back to Julius Caesar days. Autun the larger town still has the military school there. Larochemillay had a military fort, where the Chateau de Larochemillay is now. There is a monument to the resistance during the war, and you can still walk the area in the forest, and see the ruins of the buildings and hiding places used during the occupation of the Germans. There is an interesting museum in our village which has the regions history, and a wine cave.
Getting around
A car is necessary to have in this rural area. Maison Toussaint Luxury B&B have bicycles available for hire, so you can take a picnic hamper (prices available at B&B) and happily explore the area. We also have a car at your disposal for hire. Please enquire when booking. Luzy the nearest town has a train station that can get you around on day trips, also Autun the larger town has a train station.
