Big Indian, Catskill Region, New York
Cold Spring Lodge in the heart of the Catskill Mountains (Shandaken, NY) has rustic cabins. The pet-friendly cabins have real, indoor wood-burning fireplaces for winter and outdoor fire pits for summer. Each has an eat-in-kitchen, TV, DVD player and WI FI. We have 40 acres of land adjacent to the NYS owned Catskill Forest Preserve. Our Catskill Cabins are great for any outdoor recreational activity. In winter, we're just minutes from Belleayre Mt. Ski Center and have great discount packages. Windham, Hunter and Plattkill are also close by. In summer we offer a great outdoor swimming pool and deck. The Esopus Creek runs through our property which borders state hiking trails. We're on the Slide Mt. Road - tallest mountain in the Catskill region. Our Lodge provides visitors with beautiful surroundings, “big sky” stars at nigh... Read more

Karen the manager showed me to cabin 7 picking our way through lots of fallen, rotten apples up onto a porch/deck. On opening the storm door I saw a hole where the arm that holds open the door should have been. A deck board needed to be nailed down as we entered the cabin (which was attached to a rental...

The outdoors at this place are great but the interiors of the cabins and the pool need work. Our cabin was VERY rundown, the bathroom needs a complete overhaul. The toilet causes puddles on the floor, the toilet seat was peeling, the bathroom wall had holes in it and tthe flooring was coming apart. The beds were very uncomfortable, the...

The cabin is one among 6 that are placed closely together on the large plot. If you are looking for a secluded cabin this is not the place. The beds are really bad - the springs will make themselves felt in a very uncomfortable way. These issues aside, the cabins are situated with a view to the mountains and there...

Management response:

We appreciate Frank's review though it took us by surprise. This guest originally booked 2 nights then asked if they could book 2 more and stay longer. There was never a complaint about the beds while the guest was here and though we were not able to give them 2 more nights, we did accommodate their request for the 3rd....

About the neighborhood
A little over 100 miles from NYC (2 1/2 hours, traffic permitting) Cold Spring Lodge is a year-round Catskill Mountain lodge with rustic cabins set in a lovely mountain valley on a well-maintained, country road.

The location of the Cold Spring Lodge is sublime, and better to witness than describe. We're set in the heart of the Catskill Forest Preserve and the New York City Watershed with the Esopus Creek only steps from our cabins. More than 80% of the land in our area has been designated “forever wild.” The tallest mountain in the Catskills is just up the road and nature prevails, with deer, raccoons, fox and even bear wandering by in season.
