In its prime secluded location next to a protected wildlife sanctuary & lagoon, you truly will feel like you are escaping the modern world and re-discovering yourself in the middle of paradise. We built Casa de Oro 10 years ago - and recently gave the paint and details a facelift. When we aren't able to be there, we are thrilled to share it with nature lovers, playful families, great friends and fellow travelers who all love this beautiful 3.5 mile stretch of idyllic beach as much as we do. When you enter Casa de Oro, you will be overcome by the beauty of the tropical landscaping and the retreat-style villa awaiting you. We worked hard to create a space with seamless indoor-outdoor integration so you can truly enjoy the stunning beach and jungle surroundings from every room. In fact, the entire communal space is completely open-air and includes a large kitchen with breakfast bar, dining room with seating for 8 and a living room that opens up to the 32-foot pool (5 feet deep) and its 1500-square foot wrap around deck with beach views, lounge chairs and poolside table with umbrella. Inside the villa, we have two gorgeous master suites each with a king-sized bed, reading nook and giant bathrooms with plenty of storage. The suites both have fans and air-conditioning for optimal personal comfort. Upstairs, there is a small balcony overlooking the pool and out over our small coconut grove and garden leading down to the beach. Downstairs, French doors open right onto the pool... perfect for a refreshing morning dip even before your morning coffee! Our flat rate for Casa de Oro includes 4 adults but additional guests - up to 4 more adults and/or children - can be accommodated in our spare bungalow-style suites for an added per guest charge. Please note that Casa de Oro is set up as a “property rental” - the main villa must be rented at our base rate for 4 adults and then can be augmented to add additional guests. Our property manager, Tina, is a longtime Troncones resident and will be available to ensure that your stay is enjoyable and customized to your needs. She can even do grocery shopping to stock up the kitchen before your arrival for a $25 service fee (plus the cost of food). In addition, we are very lucky to have José and Amadelia as our onsite caretakers and 24-hour security. José is native to Troncones, speaks English and knows all of the best restaurants, boat captains, surf spots and more. He can assist you in making arrangements for local activities like horseback riding, massages, restaurant recommendations...and even daily deliveries of fresh local fish, fruit and vegetables! His wife, Amadelia, provides daily cleaning (except Sundays) and can also be hired to cook delicious authentic Mexican meals using fresh local ingredients. We designed Casa de Oro with our own family and vacation plans in mind and hope you will enjoy all of the comforts and details as much as we do! We added decorative touches that reflect the warm colors and artisan history of Mexico and include features such as free WiFi, built in speakers with iPod connection and a fully equipped kitchen to give you a worry-free and relaxed vacation.

Horrific! Avoid at all cost
Do not stay here. It is bad. Ok, first of all... The poop you see all around the house until 2 in the afternoon is not mouse poop. It looks like it, but it is actually from bats. Someone does eventually show up to sweep it all away, but not until late morning or early afternoon. When the housekeeper gets to it... maybe. The garden is just a weed infested mess. The onsite employee will be happy to wave at you as he walks through the pool deck at random times with his surf board to go surfing. The manager will yell at your kids and if you ask for anything she acts like you are just the biggest annoyance in her life. We think she was stealing tips from the staff as well. Great town to visit. Really bad house to stay in.

Casa De Oro is the best place to decompress
We spent a very relaxing week at Casa De Oro over the Christmas holiday. Everything about our stay was perfect for our family. The floor plan/layout of the house worked perfectly for our family of four. Everyone enjoyed the pool in the morning and the beach/surf in the afternoons. Evenings were spent trying the various restaurants all within walking distance to the central part of town. Jose was an integral part of our stay. While he is the groundskeeper - he offers so much more. He took the time to shuttle my wife to the market and my son to rent a boogie board and was always willing to help or offer suggestions for activities etc. His mom (Lupe) also prepared a fantastic meal for us that we all enjoyed. In addition, it would be a shame not to mention the amazing town of Troncones. Stateside we often read of travel advisories for various parts of Mexico and while some of the warnings are warranted, we could not have felt more safe and secure in our travels to this part of Guerrero.

Longing to Return
There are first class resorts and then there is Casa De Oro! Wow, from the attentive Tina to the wonderful house staff Jose and Anadelia, this place is a piece of heaven in paradise! The Casa is beautifully laid out with amazing artwork! Everything is comfortable and the pool is large. The delicious restaurants footsteps away and numerous beach activities kept our family busy for the week! I honestly had no complaints except that we had to leave this oasis. This place will make you feel like a king and I highly recommend it! Cheers!

Luxury Living on the Beach
I never write reviews, but must share our 2 week experience. Casa De Oro commands one of the choicest locales in all of Troncones. THE COMPOUND: We drove through tall woven gates into a lush Paradise with palm trees, exotic plants and stone art. Caretakers Jose and Amadelia gave a warm welcome and escorted us past a glorious fountain. We entered through the main home gates into Grand Palapa living. Spaces are tiered flowing down to open aired living area under a giant palapa. The kitchen has a large 6 burner gas range and is equipped with everything you need, even basic pantry items. A long tiled bar counter is perfect for laying out meals. The dining area sports a table that can seat more than 8 people, from here you step down to the living area with 3 sofas and a hammock. Then step directly onto the luxurious pool deck with 2 more large shade palapas, 8 cushy lounges, and another dining table allowing for everyone to spread out. The first floor pool deck and living spaces look out to the beach and adorable bay. The pool is large with an infinity edge. No one can view into the property because it is elevated offering the utmost in privacy. There is a hidden gated stairway stepping down to the private beach yard in front of the Casa. Of course, this is where you find the outdoor shower for rinsing yourself and boogie boards. There are 4 California King Master Suites with En Suite Bathes. Two are connected to the Grand Palapa, the other two (Bungalows) are nestled among the grounds. Perfect for parents with children that may be worried about direct pool deck access. Our group fluctuated between 4 and 8 people depending on when family and friends could join us. To top things off……literally….there is full service bar and lounge area on the top Palapa floor offering gentle ocean breezes, sea views and sunsets. This was a fun space to sip on Margaritas & party, or read and nap. LUXURY AMENITIES: Air conditioning in every suite. The mattresses are devine and the sheets had to be 400+ thread count. Towels were soft and fluffy. The entire estate is well manicured and very clean. Jose can fix anything, and arrange for the fish vendor or the fruit/veggie man to drop by for your shopping pleasure. The produce variety was amazing and Bacdyn drops are provided at the Casa for food safety. Amadelia cleaned our rooms everyday except Sunday. Purified water is offered in every suite and the public areas. Ceiling fans throughout. Lockboxes in every suite for passports and cash, large closets. The 2 suites connected to the main Palapa are huge and can sleep more than 2 people. A separate drink fridge and blue tooth stereo. A separate barbecue palapa. A landline to the local restaurants and stores. WIFI, which I found to be the same speed as the local 3G. Interiors and exteriors are tastefully decorated with gorgeous local art, hand woven textiles and handmade furniture. The property can accommodate just a couple or a large family get together. LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION: This is a very private property with views of greenscape and the beach. Yet, you are still in the pueblo with a short walk to everything. We spent our mornings walking the beach and body surfing, then back to the Casa for a dip in the pool and another breakfast. Late mornings/afternoons were spent at the local farmer’s market & craft fair, boutiques, visiting with local expats and driving to nearby pueblos. In the evening we enjoyed strolls on the beach to all the restaurants (there are now 37) and a Tortuga Sanctuary. Bedtime found us sleeping with the windows open (screened) dozing off to the rhythms of the ocean = Heaven! WE WILL RETURN: Hands down we are coming back. Casa De Oro offered one of the most restorative, relaxing vacations we have experienced in years!

Spacious outdoor area to relax, just steps from the beach.
This was an extended-family vacation for 5 adults and 2 teens, a Christmas present "experience" to ourselves. Pros: nice big pool, great terrace up top for sunset happy hour, quick walk to beach, attentive caretaker that helped with everything, quiet location, a great experience to be in a village rather than bigger city or resort. Cons: outdoor kitchen was okay (bugs & beasts, but you just have to keep food contained), wifi was slow (but our teens may have maxed it out),

Thanks for your review. We're happy to know you were pleased with the services provided at Casa de Oro. Unfortunately, the internet tends to slow down alot during the holidays when the beach is packed with families everywhere enjoying time together. We wish you a wonderful 2018!!

Not exactly as advertised...
I really wanted to love this place but... My adult sons and I stayed at Casa De Oro for 8 nights over New Years. Athough the property is beautiful, it is not beachfront. It is set back off the beach behind a empty lot next to a road that is well used daily for parking and beach access and it gets very loud. Since the house is set back you do not have the ocean breeze of being beachfront. The home is an open concept with a pool next to the living area which gets extremely hot with minimal sun protection. There was only one umbrella by the pool that worked and this is your main patio. They had 2 beach umbrella's laying on the deck but flopped over in the stands provided and did not keep the sun off. The deck on the top is beautiful with a nice view and a palapa for cover but the plastic lounge chairs were broken. There are no beach chairs to take to the beach to escape the heat so I would suggest bringing your own. On a positive note the staff was wonderful, the home was very clean and we really appreciated their suggestions and cooking!

Thanks, Jan, for your comments. They are welcome and appreciated and help us to make changes and upgrades so that our guests have a pleasant experience at Casa de Oro. As mentioned while you were here, we had plans to build a large palapa on the pool deck to provide much needed shade and we're happy to announce that it has been completed. There are ten lounge chairs on the property and the staff would have been happy to provide you with a newer one if you had asked. The access road to the South usually sees very little traffic, however, you were here during the holidays which explains the heavy traffic flow. We are glad you enjoyed other aspects of the property and again, appreciate your taking the time to comment.

NO Recomendable

About the neighborhood
Troncones is a small beach town with no time table, just sunrises and sunsets and plenty of hammocks to hang in. We love to wander down to our favorite cafes for a drink, dinner – anything from authentic Mexican seafood dishes to 3 course gourmet meals! – and to catch up with friends. But we have also designed Casa de Oro to be the perfect spot to hideaway – there is plenty of room, a gourmet kitchen as well as large grill, and a gorgeous large pool where all of your cares will float away! Troncones is a quaint village (population of about 300) on the Pacific Ocean about 20 miles north of Zihuatanejo. Thanks to a new highway, we are an easy 35 minute drive from the international airport (ZIH). The beach has 4 miles of beautiful sandy beaches with approximately 125 beachfront villas – many designed as vacation rentals. There are no large hotels, no discos, no timeshares – just relaxation, endless sun, gorgeous sunsets and an amazing sense of peace and belonging. Our favorite thing about Troncones are the tranquil beaches… you can take a morning walk and come across only a handful people. It's a true escape and we think Casa de Oro in Troncones is one of the best places in the world to watch a sunset, take a deep breath and reconnect with yourself and your loved ones.

How to get there
“We live in Zihuatanejo but love to escape to Troncones . When two friends from California came to visit us my husband and I decided to rent Casa de Oro so that we could hang at the beach. The house is just perfect ! We hardly wanted to leave except for an early morning walk . The days were spent happily under the big open palapa and dipping in the pool. The place is very private with an empty lot to one side and an estuary on the other. You feel safe and secure within the walled compound and have the lovely Jose on hand at all times. We will return!” – Carol L. “Casa De Oro is a mystical place to visit. The beauty and grand scale of the casa will take your breath away. Retreat, retreat, retreat!” – Molly D. “Believe me, the photos on the website barely do Casa de Oro justice. Completely enclosed, the casa is a tropical paradise. The compound provided more than enough room for our party of seven to relax, play, swim, cook and dine at our leisure. The ocean is only a few steps away, just beyond a natural lagoon, and the views from the rooftop terrace (there was a daily race to occupy the hammock) are spectacular, the beach in one direction and the jungle in the other. “But here's the bonus, something we all enjoyed. We weren't staying in a resort; we were in Mexico. Casa de Oro is on the edge of the village of Troncones. We were able to walk into town in only minutes, either along the road or along the beach, where you can stop (and we did) for lunch or a beer at one of the ocean side café-bars. The village has a small market, a handful of restaurants, a few small hotels, plus a small community of ex-pats. And if you don't want to walk into town for supplies, you can have fresh produce and fish delivered to the casa. It was the best of two worlds: a self-contained tropical paradise with an interesting and very friendly Mexican village right outside. We felt very safe. And we had a ball.” – Boyce Q. “I spent a week at Casa de Oro and had the time of my life with friends. The view from the deck is gorgeous and the decor of the entire property is first class. A short walk right to the beach made it easy for all of us. The best surprise were the super comfy beds. Checking airfare to make next reservation.” - Jane F. “We ended every day of our vacation on the beach just out our back door, beverage in hand, cameras at the ready, watching one glorious sunset after another. Up to our knees in warm surf, pelicans wheeling above in a burnt orange sky, then diving for their dinner put a lovely explanation point on another wonderful and oh so relaxing day. Can't wait to go back.” – Jay S. “There's something about a Troncones dawn that makes rising before sunrise, tumbling out of bed, and taking a long stroll along the beach an exercise in tranquility. The beach side cafes are just coming to life to the sounds of surf meeting sand and roosters meeting hens. And it's all steps beyond Casa de Oro's back gate. What a treat.” – JK Kadoo
