Abel's is a wonderful ancient barn. The cottage is a converted blacksmith's smithy, which combines a contemporary and traditional interior. It has been comfortably converted and maintains it's high beamed wooden ceilings, slate and wooden floors and lovely old stone walls. Abel's cottage is situated at Cleave Farm Cottages, down a private mile long lane which passes through a stream. It's secluded location is just 1 1/2 miles from beautiful Crackington Haven beach. The cottage is a converted blacksmith's smithy, which combines a contemporary and traditional interior. Nestled in the cliffs, Abel's sits with four other farm dwellings at Cleave Farm. Cleave Cottage is also available for rental and sleeps four in two bedrooms. With plenty of space in and outside, the cottage shares a large paddock area and has it's own barbeque / seating space. The cottage has a double bedroom, a bunk with single bed and a mezzanine with double bed. There is central heating. There is a wonderful open planned sitting room and spacious kitchen area where many evenings have been enjoyed by guests. The log burner helps make chilly evenings snug and cosy. You may choose to sit on the patio at the front of the cottage and use the barbeque as well. We do have WIFI, but unfortunately it is sometimes unreliable due to our rural location. We are working to try to improve it. There are fabulous beaches to explore, surfing to try, delicious local foods to try and incredible walks over the rugged coastal or delightful woodland paths and wild romantic moorland. The coast path is a two minute walk away. You will be stunned by the rugged and wild landscape on your doorstep. The local beach of Crackington is a super place to spend you days, investigating the rock pools, building sand creations or leaping in the waves. The beach is sandy at low tide and rocky at high tide. There are a couple of good cafes and also a great pub. The beach is a forty minute walk along the cliffs. Although remote, there is a great general store just 3 miles away and Bude with all general amenities is just 10 miles from Cleave Farm Cottages. Cleave Farm cottages are an ideal location to enjoy the peacefulness which North Cornwall offers and ideal for getting to all the wonderful local places that Cornwall has such as; Boscastle, Tintagel, Padstow, Newquay The Eden Project etc. The cottages at Cleave Farm, which were originally barns, were converted in the 1970's by Katy's parents. They have been run as a family business since then and have been recently updated and improved. Many holiday makers have returned to Cleave Farm Cottages year after year. One German couple have already booked for their 26th consecutive year! Legend says that Crackington Haven means, 'A crack in the heavens because the sun is always shining there.' We hope the legend comes true for you, but it may not, so please come prepared for any weather....don't forget your wellies!More

The cottage is secluded, comfortable, funky and well-equipped. The beautiful coastal trail is right there and outstanding in both directions. The owners were helpful and hospitable. I have already recommended this fantastic spot to a friend.

Drive access road so no passing traffic at all. Slightly disappointed that another cottage was being built outside the kitchen window, which would have had the best view, and wasn’t mentioned before our arrival. Small complaint though, as the cottage was pretty, rooms lovely and...More

About the neighborhood
Featured in The Guardian 13/05/17 'We head towards the sea for a cliff walk looking over Crackington Haven beach. It feels as though we’re walking at the edge of the world: the contrast of blue sea, craggy coast, gorse bushes and wildflowers is transfixing. And the kids love it too. Once in a while, it’s good to feel small, let the landscape dominate you, and forget about the trappings of city life.' North Cornwall has many diverse places to visit. Stunning beaches and walks, local food, fishing villages and moorland. Cycling trails, sailing, exciting outdoor pursuits, surfing, rock climbing etc and golf courses. Fantastic pub food and restaurants. There really is something to keep everyone happy!
