You can check out the variety of other “guest sojourn” services we offer at the tarasmeadow website Glamping Options In addition to our private guest bedroom for 2 inhouse with your hosts, Tara's Meadow also offers quiet, comfortable, and inexpensive "glamping" overnight facilities in the heart our 30 acre meadow and forest sanctuary. The "glamping" cabin out in the Meadow, and the geodesic dome lodging are the sites that can accommodate slightly larger groups and are pretty basic, with fresh well-water hauled out to the site, and a simple sit down composting toilet outdoors. Unwind beneath the Milky Way in an official Monarch Butterfly Meadow preserve, and with the sightings of wildlife and sounds of the occasional Sand Hill Crane, Barred Owl, and Common Loon to grace your solitude and rest. Tara's Meadow is perfectly situated for nature lovers as a Dark Sky Nature site, with Beaver Island’s larger official Dark Sky Preserve just a short walk away. In addition to the birding, butterflies, and wildlife found on location, we offer close access to lakes and trails, marshes and other nature preserves nearby, including Miller's Marsh Natural Area and beautiful Greene's Lake with its 300-year-old oaks on the shore. Amish Cabin The Amish Cabin provides a cozy and homey "glamping" experience while still being in the middle of nature. Located at the edge of the meadow, the cabin has a luxury full size bed as well as a loft space that sleeps an additional 1-2 people. Geodesic Dome The Geodesic Dome offers guests a unique alternative to traditional overnight stays. Located within the nearby forest, the dome is very quiet, with an open interior layout that includes a fold out futon couch bed, and can accommodate multiple people in sleeping bags or cots. Your host Seamus is available as an official Island Tour Guide and offers guests a variety of other “guest sojourn” services.

Magical Place
This was our first trip to Beaver Island so we did not know what to expect. We were delightfully surprised at every turn. Seamus was a wonderful host and tour guide. He couldn't have been kinder or more respectful. Tara's retreat is a special place with a sense of sacredness. We feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to visit.

Our Great Boodle Adventure
Staying at Tara’s Meadow was delightful. Seamus went above and beyond to ensure that everything was as hassle-free and interesting as possible. The place was the clean, quiet escape that we needed after lots and lots of exploring. Highly recommend the tour of the island. Never know what fun surprises the island might have in store! 😁

About the neighborhood
Our home is located on 20 private acres with forests and a meadow to roam. We have access to lakes and trails, marshes and nature preserves nearby, and are in easy walking distance of Miller’s Marsh Natural Area and Greene’s Lake with its 300 year old oak tree grove. A great location for biking, hiking, and kayaking! Guests can travel 20 minutes to the charming Island town of St James on Paradise Bay for their groceries, restaurants, the Whiskey Point Brewery, and our fine Historical museums. They will find rental opportunities for bicycles, kayaks, cars and vans for on Island travel, along with Wi-fi services and free computers to use at our beautiful Library or the Community Center in town.
Getting around
On Island Travel is fun and easy! Its a big little world though to explore, with 6 inland lakes and a 45 mile loop to get around the Island. So we recommend having a vehicle for your own independence if you wish to see the whole Island. Biking is fun too on the Island, and there are rentals for electric and pedal bikes -- if you reserve these weeks in advance. We recommend renting a vehicle on the Island if you are over for a short stay, or bringing your own vehicle over on the ferry if you are staying for 3 nights or longer. You will need to call to make reservations for car rentals, or to bring your own car over, several weeks in advance. Call the Beaver Island Boat Company for reservations to bring your own vehicle over to the Island.
