Clos du Magnolia is situated in a charming, picturesque village less than 20 kms north of Beziers in southern France. Nestled at the foothills of Haut Languedoc Naturel Parc, it's a gateway to fantastic walking and cycling routes, several good golf courses or kayaking on the River Orb. There's also a choice of superb, sandy Mediterranean beaches within a 30 minute drive.
The gîte is named after the evergreen tree, Magnolia Grandiflora, which sits in the middle of the garden providing shade, privacy, fragrance and beauty. The full length window of the gîte front door looks out on this magnificent tree under which is a large table for al fresco dining or apero. The full length window of the gîte front door looks out on this magnificent tree under which is a large table for al fresco dining or apero. The gîte is part of an old vignerons house built in early 20th century. It has been fully renovated and, while retaining the characteristics of a traditional French home, it contains modern facilities for a relaxing holiday. There is a lovely 9m x 3m unchlorinated swimming pool available too.
We have secure parking for bicycles, motorbikes or kayaks and can give advice on good routes and places to find. Besides the range of outdoor activities, this area is one of France's largest wine-growing areas so there are many opportunities to sample local wines. And naturally, being in France, there's a great variety of restaurants and cafe's as well as local markets to visit.
The gîte is self-catering, however, we can also provide a 3 or 4-course French cuisine meal, cooked for you and any guests on request. Many of our guests enjoy having a night off cooking and relaxing in the garden while the work is done for them! Prices depend on the menu selected.
The village has a bar/restaurant and a 'depot de pain' for the daily baguette. However, to get the most out of discovering this area it is advisable to have a car or motorbike.
We are in a wonderful climate with 300 days of sunshine per year, which means you can have great weather for walking, cycling or golf even in winter. This really is a fantastic year-round destination.More
This was the most relaxing and enjoyable holiday I have taken. The property is stunning with a large pool and BBQ area as well as hosts Jane and Merv who make you feel right at home.
The gite is well equipped and located in a private section of the owners lovely garden.
Jane had left bread, butter, jam, cheese and even a lovely bottle of wine.
Merv and Jane were wonderful hosts. Merv even brought us some tomatoes from the garden....More
