This perfect log cabin with modern conveniences affords privacy, and a large exterior front deck with a newly added continuous back deck that affords easy grilling as well as just enjoying the peaceful setting of outdoor living. A garden, sculptures and place just to relax all within walking distance of Southwest Harbor center, the local Lobster pound and Harbor. Located on the quiet side of Mt. Desert Island. (Acadia National Park) but within an easy drive to everything. Master bedroom with private bath, large open and airy living and dining area, spare back room /office with hide a bed for one more place to sleep and new open kitchen all on the first floor. Second floor has 2 bedrooms, bath and balcony.
We had a great time in Southwest Harbor, starting with our Cabin! Beautiful wrap around porch where we ate dinner almost every night. The Southwest Grocery store meet all of our needs as did the kitchen at the cabin. Small bathrooms, but great shower pressure! Close to town and exceeded our expectations.

A well maintained vacation home
This is a very well maintained get away home place with lots of details to reflect owner's hospitality.
It is clean, comfortable with plenty of surprises: pot flowers, small decorations, lots of indoor and outdoor sitting places and cooking supplies.
It can comfortably host 6, 7 people. The full size bed room upstairs is a little tight for two adults. However, it works for 8 people as it is advertised.
The house is conveniently located in southwest harbor downtown. It is 25 min away from bar harbor.
we love it and would like to return.

Amazing! Would definitely stay again!
We stayed here from June 28-July 6th. There are many near by sites to see, which we all loved. We went to the seawall, Bar Harbor, the sand bar to Bar island (definitely a must), whale watching, on a sunset cruse, Acadia National Park, Cadillac Mountain and saw fireworks on desert island and so much more. You can walk into town where you will find restaurants, some little shops and ice cream. Bar Harbor is about a 20 minute drive where you will find lots of shopping, places to dine, bars and sightseeing activities. The location of this cabin is amazing as it is not in the center of it all yet it is still close to many activities.....I think that is what we loved the most. We could go into Bar Harbor where it is very touristy yet leave the active atmosphere and go back to peace and quiet. Mike and Dee are amazing! They have pamphlets of things to do and see at the cabin along with an itinerary of what to explore each day if you choose to do so. They are also very responsive to answer questions quickly if you need anything. We had a party of 7 and had enough room for us all to do our own thing when we chose to. We also had a span of age groups from grand parents to parents to young adults. It was not difficult to find things for everyone to do. One of the favorites was playing Parcheesi in the evenings. Mike and Dee have many indoor and outdoor games provided for when you want to stay at the cabin. We loved Maine and our stay at the best little cabin on Desert Island.

Log cabin in the woods
Very comfortable log cabin tucked into the woods.
Bit full of ornaments and bus and pieces so had to put a few away to get solace for our kit!
Very comfortable beds, good deck and everything you'd need.
Great base for exploring....

Wonderful Cabin!
We stayed for a week in July 2016. The cabin is located on a nice quiet street, yet a few minutes' walk to town. The cabin is very, very clean and well appointed. The kitchen is very well equipped. This place has all the comforts of home and we were very happy we chose to stay here!

My Home Away From Home
I did a great deal of research before choosing the home I would vacation in for a month on Mt Desert Island. At first, I had to choose what location on the island. This lovely cabin is located on the quiet side of the island in Southwest Harbor. Don't stay in Bar Harbor if you hate crowds and lots of traffic. I think this cabin is in the ideal location. My grandchildren played outside and rode bikes on the street without me having to worry about them. The little town is in walking distance from the cabin and has several really fine restaurants which I thought were better than those in Bar Harbor and trust me, I ate at many of them. It's also a short distance to the park and to little surrounding towns.
The cabin is darling. The kitchen has everything a cook will need, including all of the utensils for cooking lobster, making waffles, or steaming mussels. There are two outside eating areas which we enjoyed often. I particularly enjoyed the little breakfast nook right outside of the kitchen when I was there by myself for a week. I watched a mother deer and her fawn while eating my breakfast there and enjoyed the 60 degree weather.
The beds were comfortable and there are games, CDS, and DVDs to keep you entertained if you choose to stay indoors or if the weather is poor. The owners even thought to provide ice chests, beach towels, sand toys, and portable chairs for your enjoyment at the nearby Echo Lake. One of my favorite places and that of my grandchildren is a leisure walk from the house down Causeway Road. The girls explored the beach during low tide for mussels and star fish and caught crab using bacon from the rocks and bridge there.
We enjoyed going to BarHarbor and Acadia Park but found there was much to do within 5 miles from the cabin. The owners have made a folder of suggestions of what to do and where to eat that makes it so easy when you first arrive and have no clue what to do. I highly recommend this cabin after staying a month there. Don't spend the hours I did in researching other places. This is the one to choose! You'll be glad you did.

Pleasant, clean place in a good location
The log cabin is very nicely furnished and equipped, and very well cared for. The bathrooms are small and, being a log cabin, the space is pretty dark, but otherwise it's a great place to stay. The cabin is delightfully decorated and made to feel like home. The cabin is equipped with internet access, although it's slow. We were there for a week and found it very relaxing. It's an easy walk to Beal's Lobster Pier and not far from downtown.

Great Trip With a Great Home Base
We stayed at the house during the week of July 26-August 2 2014. The house is as advertised, the arrangements went smoothly and professionally and our family of five was very happy. We found that staying in SW Harbor worked great for us. We hiked, biked, toured MDI by car and spent plenty of time in the park. The house is very comfortable. The kitchen worked for us in for the three of four evenings we decided to eat in. The house is stocked with board games that kept us entertained after our nightly walk to town for ice cream.

Located on a quiet street with a private back yard, plenty of trees , all within a short 10 minute walk to the pier or the center of town. Short drive to the only swimming lake on the island. Plenty to do if you just want to stay at home, bar b q, games, videos, Cable TV and Internet. Or you can just read on the large deck or small breakfast nook.
