The Eddystone is a beautiful 2300+ sq-ft home that was built with character in 1919. It has been home to several prominent families of South Bend over the past 95 years. Please be advised that for larger groups of 8 or more there is only one shower and two toilets at the Eddystone.The kitchen has all of the serving and dinnerware that you need to cook and serve a meal for 10. Enjoy the fenced in backyard with outdoor fireplace, wood, SS propane grill, propane tank, patio furniture with seating for 12. You will find plenty of room on the large patio for setting up any additional seating that you bring with. Enjoy the many complementary items such as coffee, tea, shampoo, conditioner, soap and HE laundry detergent. Every bedroom has cable tv, a blow dryer and set of bath towels, luggage rack, alarm clock, full length mirror, mattress and pillow protectors, hangers and plenty of space to unpack.  There are sidewalks the entire 2 miles between the Eddystone and the ND campus. It makes for a beautiful walk during the Fall games, approx. 35-45 minutes, down the Riverside Trail.  If you are planning on cabbing it to the game, plan ahead and schedule a pick up the day before.  It is a short 2 mile cab ride. If you are driving to Notre Dame, the short drive from the Eddystone involves only a couple of turns, Portage Ave. to Angela Blvd. to Eddy St (campus). When staying at the Eddystone, you will be centrally located to downtown South Bend, Notre Dame, Indiana Toll Road, Amtrak (SOB), South Shore (NICTD), South Bend Airport (SBN), several golf courses, Riverside and Darden Trails (Bring your bike and running shoes!), Leeper, Keller, Bertrand and Pinhook Parks. There is an inlet to the St. Joseph river less than 1 mile from the house for kayaks (the East Race is open from June to August). There is a grocery store, breakfast spot, bar, gas station, liquor store and a CVS within walking distance. Meijer, Walmart, Credit Union, car wash and fast food are less than 2 miles away. For those of our guests visiting us by car, navigating South Bend is fairly easy (there are several roundabouts and one way streets) and street parking is easy to come by. There is an atlas and local maps at the house. You will find 2 off street parking spaces and 4 street parking spaces (that run on our side of the street from the end of our driveway toward the stop sign). We hope that you choose to call the Eddystone home when you travel to South Bend!More
