Not far from the centre of the Snowdonia National Park, this property has two bedrooms and has been renovated lovingly, retaining many of the cottage's original features.Originally built from stone in the 1700s, this cottage has been sympathetically restored to retain much of its original charm such as exposed beams and stone walls. During the winter months the superb fireplace houses a wood-burning stove that can transform the cottage into a cosy little snug. For the hazy summer months, there is a rear garden from which you can enjoy a glass of wine and watch the sun set over the distant mountains. Amenities: Oil central heating with woodburner. Electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge, washer/dryer, TV with Freeview, DVD, CD. Fuel, power and starter pack for woodburner inc. in rent. Note: There are 13 steep steps to the rear patio/lawn level, so the garden is not suitable for the infirm or young, unsupervised children. Region: Famous for its choirs, stunning mountain ranges and beautiful valleys, this wonderful country has something for everyone. From Snowdonia in North Wales to the Brecon Beacons and the Pembrokeshire Coast in the South. Town: The mountain of Manod Mawr has a long history of slate mining and some of the underground chambers were used to house National Treasures during the 2nd World War. Manod village is located in a natural bowl between the Manod and Moelwyn mountains and is well served by a number of shops and pubs, which are used to serving travellers on their way to Betws-Y-Coed, the ‘Gateway to Snowdonia' and the village at the base of Mount Snowdon. Many of Manod's old slate quarries are now tourist attractions, giving fascinating insights into the work undertaken by slate miners in years gone by. The nearby Ffestioniog Railway takes passengers on stunning scenic routes through the North Wales countryside. There are many good walks and cycle-trails to be found in the area and Manod's location provides easy access to other attractions such as Portmeirion - the Italian-designed village used as the setting for the cult TV-show, ‘The Prisoner' – and the white-water rafting opportunities provided at Bala.

Cute little dog friendly cottage
This is a lovely part of Wales, but our week was blighted by struggling to find places we could let our dogs off the lead. There are some beautiful walks from the cottage but this is sheep country and our dogs (who are not used to being on the lead for long walks) drove us mad! Part way through the week we contacted the owners for suggestions and they came back to us very quickly with a few suggestions - much appreciated. The cottage itself was very "cute" but actually very small compared to other properties I've stayed in - fine for two people but I think we'd have struggled with four. The bed was a bit thin and creaky and we struggled a bit to keep warm as we couldn't keep the fire lit. Other than that we had everything we needed and found the cottage very clean. Parking is a bit tight but as we were in the end cottage we had a bit more room than the others - I wouldn't have liked trying to parallel park in some of the other places. The main "plus points" for me were the enclosed garden (essential for our dogs) and the helpful owners.

A lovely welsh cottage
We stayed here last week what a wonderful find... Cosy well maintained and everything that we needed.. Fantastic setting yet not to far from Bl Ffestiniog and a few nice walks. Try ty gwyn restaurant in Betws y Coed. The castle chippy in cricieth is a must as well. We enjoyed it so much we are re booking for a break in November

Great location, charming cottage, but needs a spring clean
We arrived at about 6pm on the saturday. Found the key collection address easily enough, which was about 1/4 mile up the road. Finding the cottage was easy too, just back down the road and on the right, but for ease of parking it's best to go down to the layby, turn around and approach with the cottage on the left. The space for parking is quite tight if you have an estate or MPV type car. We found the cottage quite charming. The views from the front windows are amazing and give a real sense of wilderness. The small garden at the back is lovely to sit in and enjoy the view. The lounge is well equipped, 2 comfy sofas, TV, DVD player and a good range of DVDs and books to get you through the bad weather days, which we were lucky not to have. The log burner is nice, but we couldn't get the fire to stay lit long enough to enjoy, but that could be my poor fire building skills! We were asked to put the bins out on Tuesday, but this was taken care of by parties unknown, although we did have to get them in. On the subject of bins we weren't supplied with any bags for food waste. The central heating in the cottage is very good and keeps heat well. The bed in the main bedroom is quite creaky. I found the quilt to be quite light weight and the pillows didn't support my head weight at all, but I utilised the pillows from the second bedroom which seemed much better and there were additional blankets available. The bathroom was relatively clean. The sink and toilet were spotless, but the shower was quite dirty in places, notably the shower head. When we arrived, there was a letter advising that power to the cottage would be off between 0900 and 1630 on the Tuesday due to power line works in the area. This wasn't too much of an issue due to the good weather and as we didn't bring much food with us, but had the weather been poor things could've been different. It would've been nice to have a heads up before booking or arriving. The location of the cottage is very central to the Snowdonia National Park so you can get to most places within less than an hour. On the whole it was a nice stay, but the cottage could do with a deep clean. The local information provided by the owners prior to arriving and also in the handbooks in the cottage was good.

Beautiful and cosy
A lovely little cottage ideal for anyone wanting a soy cottage in the heart of beautiful scenery. The cottage is furnished in a lovely homely feel with all the facilities you need especially great cooking facilities. Here are stunning walks right from the front door of the cottage but everywhere you drive is stunning in this part of the world! The cottage is on a main road that cars travel very fast on but it in no way ruins your stay as the road isn't that busy except rush hour. The owner sends a very helpful email with everything you need to know about the cottage and the area which is like a bible to first timers to wales like we were! The wood burner is lovely throwing out the heat and making it extra cosy. We had a fantastic week here and would love to return.

A great cottage in a beautiful setting.
This is a comfortable, clean and well equipped cottage. The location is perfect for lovely long walks either up mountains or in beautiful woodland. It is on a fairly busy road but don't let this put you off as we didn't really notice any noise after the 1st day. The owners gave really helpful guidance re walks and places to visit and the locals are friendly and helpful. We will definitely be returning in the spring!

Love long hikes -:- Dorchester
cosy little cottage
Owner was very helpful and emailed loads of info about places to eat where we could take our dog. The cottage suited us perfectly. We went hiking everyday and it was lovely to come back to the nice warm comfortable cottage at the end of the day. Our dog enjoyed her stay as it was nice to be able to just walk behind the cottage or across the road for a morning run! The traffic was abit noisy at times as we're country folk and not used to that! Only 5 minutes to the co-op in Bleneau which was really good and next door to the chip shop which was excellent. Only minor criticism was the lack of a washing line in the little garden. Highly recommend for a couple.

Cozy cottage in Manod
We stayed in Manod for 2 weeks and had a lovely time. The cottage is very cozy with a lovely back garden and scenic mountainsviews and green pastures with lots of sheeps. The cottage is situated close to Snowdonia Nationalpark and there are lots of hikingtrails just outside the cottage. The owner and caretaker are very nice and helpful. We can recomend the cottage for your next holiday if you want to experience the best of Wales.
