Great Tangley Manor is a Grade I listed 11th Century Moated Manor house lovingly restored by Glyn & Anne Powell-Evans. The house is surrounded by beautiful Victorian gardens and is situated on the edge of the Surrey Hills.
We provide luxurious accommodation in a historic venue with modern day technology and home comforts, all within easy reach of excellent local amenities.

Interaction with guests:Â Guests are welcomed upon arrival by the owners/manager. There is always someone available via telephone throughout your stay. The owners live on site so are available if needed.
We booked Great Tangley Manor for a day for our small, intimate wedding and it provided the most magical settings for our special day. We had full and exclusive use of the ground floor rooms and to the beautiful, perfectly kept grounds for drinks. We held the ceremony in the Marix Room and our "wedding breakfast" in the dining hall, with food provided by Richie, a superb caterer.
Nicho, the manager at the Manor was very helpful, and there are ramps available for the small steps as one of our guests was a wheel chair user.
We can unreservedly recommend this lovely, private venue in case you are looking for a truly special venue for a wedding or event.

This wonderful home is exceptional - and they repaid our advance booking fees within days of COVID cancellations.
Having spent a wonderful week at the spectacular Great Tangley Manor with family and friends over October half term 2020, we decided to book GTM ahead over the coming months for a number of long weekend visits, and consequently paid our associated fees in advance at the time of booking. Unfortunately, all but one of these long weekends had to be cancelled because of two Covad 19 lockdowns and a number of travel restrictions. The marvellous Nicho Millard couldn't have been more thoughtful and cooperative, as the worry of losing these bookings and our advance payments began to cause us concern. Each cancellation was covered by a choice of finding alternative dates in the future or a complete return of our fee within a few days. At the end of this protracted period of uncertainty we were not a penny out of pocket. We can't wait to return!

The most magical venue
We recently hosted our wedding reception at Great Tangley Manor and what a magnificent venue it was for such an occasion. Nicho, Anne and Glyn could not have been more welcoming, hospitable and flexible hosts. No request was too big and they really did help to create our dream day. Huge thank you to the team for being so wonderfully supportive throughout the planning process. We truly cannot recommend Great Tangley highly enough. It is a magical venue and we cannot wait to come and stay with you again.

You get what is promised, welcoming, interesting, well located, quirky and fun
We travelled all of 25 miles from Kingston to visit the Surrey Hills, which, most of the time we would drive past. From GTM we were able to explore villages, towns, pubs and places we should not normally do. The North Downs walks were superb, far better than dicing with death walking on country lanes in say, Wiltshire or elsewhere. The Manor House is well placed for Bramley and Shalford shops and pubs and very interesting walks. Friendly owners. Some of the facilities are quirky, such as the bathrooms but that is part of the character and should be cherished. Wonderful grounds. Pool and tennis court were well used and very welcome. We created some lovely memories for our family at GTM so many thanks to the owners for letting us rent in these difficult Covid affected times

Amazing Place ideal for family get together
My daughter was first to arrive and sums up Great Tangley Manor in her text to me which was like this;- WOW omg this place is Amazing wow,wow,wow!
Fabulous facilities, all the space we needed for a fabulous family get together. The children loved the indoor pool. We were welcomed to our stay and nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommend staying at Great Tangley Manor.

Perfect for family get together
Family gathered from north, east and west for 1st wedding in 28yrs so a very special event.
Very well equipped house with lots of character. Spacious bedrooms. The huge mirror was popular with the young ladies for hair and make up!
Lovely walks from house and warm swimming pool .
Owner greeted us and gave the welcome tour and had put our supermarket delivery in fridge for us.
Excellent venue.

Stunning venue for a family wedding.
We had a wonderful time staying here for our daughter's wedding. The facilities are everything you could wish for including a swimming pool. The bedrooms are all very luxurious and comfortable. The grounds are stunning and a perfect background for beautiful wedding photography. We were able to host a small reception in the wonderful historic dining room. Would highly recommend this hidden gem. Nicho was very helpful with all the arrangements.

Fabulous venue for multi-generation family gathering
The house is a completely private part of the Manor. The setting is beautifully rural despite being 10 mins out of Guildford with many beautiful walks available straight from the house. The approach is through lovely grounds with ample parking. We were slightly worried about getting an elderly lady over the moat but fortunately she was fine. The moat is quaint albeit slightly painful if you have a lot of stuff to bring. Fortunately the manager recommended getting as much food as possible delivered which saved a lot of pain. As you can see from the photos on the website it’s an absolutely beautiful house, every room a joy to be in. The sense of history is very visible. The pool was fab and a great option on a rainy day with small children to keep occupied. We had the recommended caterers on Sat night and they did a great job. We were looking for a venue around an hour from LONDON with a ground floor bedroom and bathroom, somewhere that would be comfortable for kids and great-grannies alike, and it was absolutely perfect. Everything was v clean and it was v well provisioned.
I was a little put off by the large deposit and some of the possible extra charges but I needn’t have worried. The manager was helpful and responsive including being willing to show us around beforehand. I would definitely recommend it.

Perfect location for a weekend family birthday celebration
We held a 50th birthday party at the Manor House in early March and couldn't have wanted for a better location. Although the bedrooms share bathrooms, the rooms are large and comfortable. Downstairs is an eclectic mix of a modern 'party room', a quiet traditional sitting room and a beautiful spacious dining room for 12. The kitchen is large, airey and very well equiped with a glass extension to sit for breakfast.
Even though the weather didn't allow us to make the most of the grounds, the outside areas from the walled garden to the large pond and surrounds is beautiful.
If you are looking for a simply stunnning country house large enough to accommodate a family / friends get together in beautifully looked after grounds then you must consider Tangley Manor.

Great location for a family get together
I booked Great Tangley Manor for a family get together for my birthday. Just wonderful. Beautiful inside and out, and full of history. The bedrooms are roomy and comfortable. Great spaces for eating and relaxing. The heated pool was a source of pure joy! I highly recommend Great Tangley Manor.
