Estimado Sr. Andres.

Excellent experience. We had typical March Chiloe weather with a mix of sunny and rainy days. The food and service at the boat were great. In fact the sea food was outstanding, Kayaking and using the small motor boats were pluses. Visit to land locations were well supported. The "grill on the beach" outing was perfect.

Amazing experience
Once again, 2 years after the first trip, the Alba experience was incredible. Food on board is outstanding making intense use of locally sourced seafood and shellfish. New (improved) canoes are really good to explore rivers and go fishing to remote places. Crew was friendly and helpful as always. I'm really waiting for the third trip in 2 years time.

Beautifull sight views, excellent dinning and activities from the crew
A marvelous trip with good accomodations and an exquisit food on board, sometimes barbecues in open places surrounded by exhuberant vegetation. Absolutely recomended to escape from the cities and take a rest.
Excelent service from all the crew including the on board chef.

THE way to experience Patagonia and the Andean fjords!
This was my 9th time aboard the Alba and I can't wait to come back again!
I cannot say enough about how unique this experience is and how well attended everyone was while aboard. The Alba has always been a special place to come to and truly one of a kind. It is a hand-made yacht built entirely out of local lumber for the sole purpose and of pleasure cruising the protected waters of Southern Chile (where the Andes meet the Pacific Ocean) while blending into the Patagonian landscape.
This is not a cheap trip, but compared to the high-end hotels I have been to in Torres del Paine, the Alba provides a MUCH more unique and special experience with access to areas that only few people get to see a year.
Having also been on charters in the US, Caribbean and Europe, this is the best value I have seen from the perspective of crew / guest ratio and uniqueness of experience. I have chartered other boats in the region prior to the construction of the Alba, and they do not compare - Alba has earned its reputation as the best boat and crew.
Home to only small fishing and farming villages, the area is very sparsely populated. As much of the area is primarily accessible by water, one always feels much like an explorer as you approach each town without any other foreigners to be seen.
The food is world-class with the full range of South Pacific shellfish and seafood gathered daily and Don Luis in charge of preparing the region's famous dishes. Note: your only alarm clock will be the smell of his fresh dough rising in the oven every morning
Plenty of activities to do (kayak, hike, fish, beach comb) but navigating solo through the dramatic landscapes is the real highlight of the trip. For those who like to drive, el Capitan makes this a very interactive experience and you can easily find yourself spending the afternoon going through charts and mapping out the next destination while sipping fresh brew and getting the hang of the wheel.
Personal favorites: The natural volcanic hot springs in both Cahuelmo & Porcelana (I have yet to see anyone else visiting when we go)
A Must: "Asado al palo" - spit roasted meat of your choice on a beach of your choice (lamb recommended!)
And always keep an eye out for the dolphins

About the neighborhood
The Alba has been sailing for the last 10 years from Puerto Montt in the north to Isla Magdalena too the South. Around the base port of Dalcahue we find approximately 30 inhabited islands, only reachable by boat they maintain a lot of the essence of the Chiloé lifestyle. Sailing through these islands we may find whales, dolphins, sea lions, penguins, flamingos, and many other different birds.

Due to the abruptness of the Andean range there are various naturally formed thermal springs in the area.

There are fish, shellfish, octopus, crabs, king crabs and many other local delicacies that can be observed discovered and caught while visiting the area.

We recommend bringing a good camera as the scenery and the lighting of the predominant cloud formations make for incredible pictures.

How to get there
The best way to get to Chiloé is getting a flight from Santiago to the Island's Airport. Dalcahue is a quick 9 km car ride, where you can board directly from the pier. Regrettably flights are not available on Tuesdays or Thursdays and there is only one flight arriving and leaving per day.

On the other hand there are multiple flights arriving in Puerto Montt and Dalcahue is only a few hours away by car, the drive is through a beautiful country side and includes a Ferry ride through the Chacao Channel. Although long it is a rewarding experience.

We will always be available to help arrange transportation for our guests.
