Enjoy morning coffee on the screened-in lanai, overlooking lush landscaping and our private swimming pool. Toast Sanibel's glorious sunsets on our shell-filled Gulf beach. Experience the charm that is Breakers West: a family-friendly, 18-unit complex of mirror-image condos, close to shopping, dining and island adventures, yet quiet and peaceful, a world away from noise and crowds.

Interaction with guests
We love communicating with our guests, and have made many lasting friendships as a result of their visits. While we cannot greet you in person (we'd have no place to stay!), our rental-management office is right on Sanibel, en route to our condo; the keys, and a welcome-packet, will await you there.

And you can reach us at any time, day or night, we're a phone call/text/email away. We have a network of resources (maintenance and otherwise) whom we can call upon to assist you.

We take great pleasure in sharing with our guests, ideas for "doing-and-dining." We've put together a guidebook of helpful information (dining, sightseeing, bike routes, wildlife info, TV channels, etc). And we're delighted to help plan for a special occasion.

When I book accommodations I look for clean, comfortable, quiet and location. This hit three out of four with ease. About the neighborhood
Breakers West is located mid-island, 4.9 miles west from the Causeway exit. It is on the Gulf side of West Gulf Drive, a quiet residential street, midway between Tarpon Bay Rd and Rabbit Rd (and yes, they do have bunnies!). It's a short walk (just over 100 yards) from our condo to our shell-sand beach on the Gulf of Mexico; it faces West, perfect for Sanibel sunsets

Sanibel's restaurants, shops and attractions are easy to reach by car or bike, but a bit too far away to walk to (the "price" of peace-and-quiet). "Ding" Darling National Wildlife Refuge is just on the other end of Rabbit Rd. Most places offer free parking; and most have bicycle-racks. One Sanibel's scenic bike-hike paths runs across the street past our building.
Getting around
Sanibel has no bus or trolley service; to get around, one must walk, drive, bike or taxi. Breakers West is on West Gulf Drive. The Gulf Drives (East, Middle, West) run parallel to and south of the main road, Periwinkle Way. Most restaurants and shops are on Periwinkle.

Tarpon Bay Rd is the quickest route to Periwinkle and "all things east." The Gulf Drives are a winding, quieter, more scenic alternative.

"Ding" Darling NWR, the Bailey-Matthews Shell Museum, and CROW Wildlife Rehab are all on San-Cap Rd, the western extension of Periwinkle, and just north of Breakers West. Sanibel's historic lighthouse is the other way, at the eastern tip of Sanibel.

One of the best ways to see Sanibel is by bicycle, on 25 miles of bike-hike paths.

Airport: Southwest International Airport (SWIA), Ft Myers, FL: 29.2 mi
Sanibel is connected to mainland Fort Myers by a Causeway ($6 toll, one direction only). The only way to get there is by car (or taxi or limousine); there is no public transportation. The nearest airport is SW Florida International (SWIA), Ft Myers, 28 mi./45 mins from our condo. SW Florida is not served by Amtrak; bus service connects Fort Myers with Amtrak stations in Tampa, Orlando and Miami. Sanibel is about a 4-hour drive from both Orlando and Miami; 2 hours from Tampa, 1 hour from Sarasota. Condo parking is free.
