Most amazing vacation on Captiva Island!
We had a great time on Captiva Island. We have stayed there several times, but this time we chose to stay at this private home on the bay. My husband and I were relaxed and the kids had plenty of room to run and explore. The house was amazing - beautiful views, lots of room, great pool and very private but close to everything we could possibly need.

Great house,great views ,great location
Stayed at casa with 3 couples plenty of space for everyone and all had a fabulous vacation. House was clean,we'll maintained and everything is within walking distance. Pool area and nearby beaches were beautiful as well as fishing from the dock. Great place to unwind.

Beautiful views ... Great location ... however, some disappointments
My husband and I rented this home the week after Thanksgiving for a quiet, much needed vacation. Overall, this home was everything as described and the photos were an accurate representation. While we would have preferred to stay on the gulf side of Captiva (nothing was available), this home sits on the bay side and has the most AMAZING views!! The location was perfect as it was an easy walk to the Village for dining and to the beach for watching the most beautiful sunsets! And although we didn't plan it, there was a full moon the week we stayed and WOW, was this beautiful shining on the bay ... the water just glistened with the light from the moon. This was a special treat for sure!
Because I rely heavily on reviews when booking vacation rentals, I am going to share some disappointments with this property. However, I did rate this home very good because OVERALL this is a great home for a vacation. I believe that it is good to share our concerns/issues so you can make an informed decision or ask the owner if they fixed the problems.
The disappointment we experienced was with the pool/hot tub. One of the main criteria in my search for this vacation was a 'heated' pool and hot tub (especially in late November when the temps drop down at night). Unfortunately, this pool was very cold upon arrival and when we followed the directions to heat ... it still did not get warm enough to enjoy. We contacted the owner on Monday morning and within an hour someone was there to check it out (very fast response time!) and he made some adjustments so that the pool finally did get warm enough to enjoy during the day but not quite warm enough to enjoy for a night swim and the hot tub NEVER did get hot enough to enjoy. Again, since a heated pool/hot tub were one of our primary desires in a rental home ... this home failed to deliver.
The home also advertised free 'WIFI', however, I was not able to connect to it because it required a password and when I contacted the owner, they did not know the password so that was not very helpful.
Overall, the kitchen was well stocked, however, the fry pan/skillets were in terrible shape to the point that frying bacon 'stuck' to the pans. The handles on the kitchens cabinets were 'sticky' ... which did not give me a great sense of cleanliness in what was in the cabinets! We also had the unfortunate luck to experience tiny little ants in the kitchen during our stay. The first morning I was going to toast a bagel and there were ants crawling all over them! When I checked the pantry where the dry goods were stored ... yep, ants everywhere. Luckily, most items were sealed so that we did not lose it all and from that point on, I had to store all these items in the microwave because no counter space was safe from the ants. When I contacted the owner about the pool heat and WIFI questions, I mentioned the ants and they told me that the house was sprayed right before we arrived. I do understand that these things happen as I am a homeowner and have also experienced ants from time to time and they are hard critters to get rid of ... just wish I didn't have to deal with this on my vacation.
This home offered great space and would be ideal for a family or several couples. One of the best rooms was the screened porch which offered beautiful views of bay and pool area. The only downside to the porch was the furniture ... while a nice dining table, the chairs could have used some cushions to be comfortable (they were a hard metal with a scroll pattern) so we used towels to try and cushion the seats.
I do want to close by saying that this owner was very responsive and apologetic to our concerns and provided a refund with our returned deposit as a token of his apology ... this was unexpected and appreciated.
Some tips for Captiva ... we LOVE this area and recommend vacationing on this island! We recommend dining at the Key Lime Bistro ... great food, live music, and the BEST key lime pie!! Also, dine at the Mucky Duck ... not only can you experience the most beautiful sunset from their beachside area while enjoying a cocktail and live music, the food inside is great too! We rented a boat one day from 'Tween the Waters Marina and enjoyed a day trip on the water to Cabbage Key and had lunch at the famous "Cheeseburger in Paradise" restaurant at Cabbage Key Inn. Also recommend renting bikes to tour the island.

Beautiful home!
We loved this home. It was lovely being on the Bayfront and watching all the boats and wildlife. We saw manatees and dolphins right off the dock almost each day. The beach is a short two-block walk and restaurants are within a block. Plenty of room for eight and a beautiful pool set-up. Would definitely recommend!

We are spending one week here on Captiva in this house.
The house is very tired and needs a lot of fixing up.
The driveway paved with simple concrete is cracked in many places. The steps leading up to the house are wooden and wood is breaking away.
The bed sheets were dirty with human skin and hair and just plain smelly with pillows full of stains. We spent the first night washing bedding.
The dishes and the drawer for forks and knifes were very dirty and full of mildew.
One cup had so much molded and crusted stuff in it, we had to soak it even after a run in the dishwasher.
The house has a water leakage issue in the living room.
The Aircon is not adjustable in the individual rooms, which is a big nuisance in the bedrooms.
The Aircon ducts are very dirty, not to say filthy.
The bed in the junior master room squeaks loudly.
The bed in the guest room downstairs shakes.
Multiple light bulbs are burned out.
The winner is the lose toilet bowl on the ground floor. U can literally shift it around.
Overall, a dirty tired house.

Perfect Location - Beautiful Home
We were thrilled with this beautiful home. It is close to the action but removed just enough to feel private and quiet. It was stocked well for cooking and close to restaurants for times when you didn't feel like cooking. The size and layout worked well for our group of 7 adults- roomy and spacious. We will definitely be back!

My secret hidden hide-a-away revealed
Yes, after 14 years it is finally time to reveal what my family and friends have been enjoying for the past 14 years. Captiva Bayfront (aka Grande Casa) is a spectacular and very private four bedroom, four bath home, complete with pool, hot-tub and dock overlooking the bay area. Yet a five minute walk brings you to downtown Captiva and a further two minute walk to the spectacular Captiva Beach and its award winning sunsets. If you need non-stop action and bars open to the early morning hours, then this is not the place for you. Think of an earlier time, when life was simpler with a far less frantic pace, when you could walk to places, when people (GASP) talked to each other and when it was safe to be out, even after dark. This is Captiva. Now, think of a secluded five star home in Captiva (with its very recent full makeover), where families and friends can relax, swim, fish, read a book, take a nap, lay in the sun, play some cards, daydream, bbq and yes (GASP) even interact with one another. This is Grande Casa. A very special, very private home and one that holds many lifetime memories for me. Minutes from the charm of downtown Captiva and yet only 30 minutes and fully connected to the real world (if you really must). Stay once and you will be counting the days until you return. Begin your own lifetime of memories. Oh yeah, don’t forget to try the eggs “Bistro Benedict” at the Key Lime Bistro (one of life’s simpler pleasures) and a “walk about” at nearby Jensen’s marina is a must. See how life was meant to be.

Even Better than Advertised!
This house was better than advertised. We absolutely loved our week in Captiva. The pool was warm and the kids used it all week. The hot tub is controlled via a remote and we could turn it on as needed. We loved all the family gathering space (3 tables to dine at). The location was fabulous. We could easily walk to the beach and all the attractions in the village area. Pelicans hung out on the dock and we saw dolphins and manatee from the dock as well. We caught an 18" catfish and a 15" weakfish fishing from the dock. Riding bike from the house through the Ding Darling wildlife loop on Sanibel is 17 miles roundtrip. Parking is limited on Captiva, so not needing to drive to restaurants or the beach is a big plus. It was so quiet and private at the house even though we were so close to the village. Can't wait to go again.

Consistently an awesome place to stay and enjoy!
Our family has rented this home for the past six years. We have consistently had great experiences. The property and the house are in great shape, with new furniture for this year.
The location is awesome. With a one-minute walk to stores and restaurants, and a two-minute walk to the Gulf, we enjoy the quiet and the beauty of the bayside -- certainly our preference.
The area provides plenty of things to do. Yolo provides bicycle, golf cart, Hobiecat, etc. rentals.
A highly recommended property to rent!

This house is the most relaxing and accommodating place we've ever stayed. The view is spectacular. Something for everyone. Brought boat for fishing. Walking distance to many restaurants and boutiques. Quick walk to the beach for a beautiful sunset. Spectacular sunrise from the back porch. House was so peaceful I never wanted to leave.
