The community, which comprises a shop/Post Office and a pub, has a true sense of isolation, with picture-perfect buildings completing the ambience. The village church dates from the 14th century and features beautiful stained glass, giving to the delicate atmosphere of the Devonian settlement while juxtaposing grandeur with its enormous steeple. The River Erme is nearby, and the sandy beach at Mothecombe is a short distance away and makes for a pleasant day at the beach. The Dartmoor National Park and the Tamar Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty are also nearby, providing a multitude of outdoor activities.
