What a great place to get away from it all. With it's own gated entrance you know you're in for something special. As soon as I stepped out of the car and looked at the view I fell in love with this place.
The cottage itself is extremely spacious, with two large double bedrooms, the main bedroom even has it's own fireplace. The kitchen is huge and has everything you could possibly need. Dom the owner even left a nice a bottle of wine on our arrival, which was a nice touch.
The location is quite remote, you are literally surrounded by fields and a farm so it is an ideal place to use as a base to see the wonders of the North West Lakes.
There is a great BBQ as well which we took advantage of with the glorious weather we had. Dom even went to the trouble of driving up from Preston to replace the grill as the previous guests hadn't bothered to clean it.
We walked in to the local village of Heskett Newmarket but there really isn't much there apart from a tea room and a pub. I advise you to do a big shop at Penrith on the way to the cottage and you can stock up on other stuff at Keswick which isn't too far away.
There are two bathrooms on the property with the shower being very powerful which was nice. There are some games in the lounge along with a Wii and a selection of DVDs to keep the kids amused if it's a rainy stay indoors type day.
I would definitely recommend this place, it can sleep 6 people comfortably and would book again without hesitation if we venture back up to the Lake District
