This charming ground floor cottage for 4 people the living area features an original sandstone wall. It has two bedrooms and a bathroom with a shower and bath. Its easy access and wide doorways make it particularly suitable for guests who are not too sprightly or reduced mobility. New furniture and fitted kitchen in December 2014.
Any questions?
Lovely cottage in a great location for these difficult times, yet still in easy reach of the Northern Lakes, Hadrians Wall and the Eden Valley. Will definitely visit again

Lovely getaway, could do better for customer experience
Langriggs is a beautiful cottage set in the idyllic village of Great Salkeld, a short drive from Penrith. The house sleeps 4 so for the two of us it was comfortably roomy (although we suspect that fridge space may become an issue at full capacity).
We found plenty to do nearby, with a comprehensive welcome guide detailing the geography of the immediate vicinity. The cottage itself is one of a handful of nearby properties under the same management, so we suspect it would be ideal for larger gatherings.
Our only criticism is that communication from the owners left some room for improvement. On our first morning we had no running water, in what turned out to be a village-wide water outage. Obviously this was ultimately no fault of the management, however our messages were not responded to, which is the only reason for not giving a full 5 stars.
Overall we had a lovely stay and definitely hope to return.

Lots of character, very clean
We stayed here while working locally for a week and would recommend Langriggs to anyone, whether for work or leisure. Lovely location with lots of character- the pictures don't really do the cottage justice. Very clean, no complaints whatsoever.
The host was helpful when we had questions. The postcode provided for satnav however, wasn't correct but we stopped by a pub to ask for directions and we found it in the end. The only thing we could have all done with was an extra towel or two especially for a weeks stay.
Would stay here again.

Comfortable home from home, very child friendly
Wetheral are a family run group of self catering cottages in a small village about 4 miles outside the town of Penrith. We found our cottage to be extremely comfortable and very child friendly, with necessary equipment such as a cot, high chair and bed rails available at no extra charge. The village of Great Salkeld has a fabulous playground which complements the cottage paddock, both lovely spots to run around before or after dinner. There is also a wonderful pub where we found lovely food and great service. The decor is perhaps a tad dated yet fits with the style of a country cottage beautifully. This area is stunning!

About the neighborhood
Great Salkeld has a population of some 400 people and is centered round the old Primary School. Pub and Norman Church. The church tower houses a clock whose chimes can be heard in the distance. The village's long history is found not only in the church but also by the remains of a middle age castle and records of several droving routes. The pub, The Highland Drove, which is renowned for its food, was once the stopping place for the drovers, who's animals were watered at the Dub just outside the village and now home to rare Great Crested Newts. The cottages are a mere 100yds from the church and pub.
Penrith an attractive market town is the hub of the Eden Valley. It is an important shopping centre with an excellent mix of traditional, specialist shops and sophisticated arcades, where such items as famed Penrith toffee and fudge, the best of traditional Cumberland sausage and intriguing work of local artists and crafts people - are to be found. These together with the town's traditional Tuesday market provide something to keep the most avid shopper happy.
With its central location, wide selection of places to eat and in which to stay, Penrith makes the perfect base for exploring the Lakes, Eden Valley and North Pennines.
