Why come here? To enjoy the lake.

Why come here? To enjoy the lake.
The cottage from the end of the dock We provide a nice Old Town canoe.
The deck where couples will probably spend a lot of time.
The great room is warm and inviting. (The photos of the cottage interior resume at #19)
Have kids? Proably the first thing they'll want to do is feed the sunfish.
The most popular canoe destination is the lilly pond.
You'll see painted turtles there. If you're lucky you'll see one by the road the kids can hold.
Have a skiboat? A great lake for water sports. The lake is rarely too windy or crowded.
Having a special occasion? Rent a pontoon boat or fishing boat at O'Hara's across the lake.
O'Hara's marina. Where you launch your boat, get gas, or repairs.
Have breakfast or lunch at O'Hara's cafe. Say 'Hi' to Mary.
On the 'long way' back from O'Hara's, the view of our shore from across the lake.
Swing by for a close up of Alford's Tower.
Fishing in front of the neighbors. O'Hara's rents these fishing boats too.
Those fishermen came by our dock 10 minutes later, and didn't catch this guy.
In July or August, there are raspberries along the road.
After a day of lake activity or enjoying the area, it's time to relax and....
... enjoy a nice sunset from the dock.
In the evening, time to curl up in the cozy corner.
If you run out of good books, pop in a DVD. (Bring a VGA cable if you want to connect a PC.)
Time to tuck in the kids. In 2013 only two bunk beds are set up.
After a last cup of decaf on the deck with the fireflys, time for a pleasant night sleep...
... so you can wake up to this view and start another day -- a world away from your other life.
Today, let's get in the car and checkout our nearby towns.
The country lane behind the cottages. Coming in from the east it weaves thru the trees's but paved.
Ten minutes is the upscale town of Salisbury with the quaint market and B&Bs. (Frank Florianz photo)
By the Salisbury townhall (worth a look inside) is the town spring where we get our drinking water.
Ask for a guest account at the Salisbury library to check out DVDs or use the internet.
Two miles more to Lakeville and Mizza Pizza. Maybe you'll stop by for Live Music Wednesdays.
Ten minutes east is more working town of Canaan with all the basic services you need.
The public golf course 10 minutes away near Canaan is a bargain at around 20$ for 18 holes.
A must-do... have a meal at Collin's Diner. I've been coming here all my life.
Canaan amusement center and Snack Shack is at the north end of town.
Route 7 is Antique Alley all the way to Vermont. It starts here in Sheffield. Every pin is a store.
Thirty minutes north is Great Barrington. Smithsonian mag rated it the #1 small town in USA in 2012.
Mountains and Appalachian Trail are to the west. View from Lion's Head. (c)

Overview
Cottage -
2 Bedrooms , 2 Bathrooms , Sleeps 4
Salisbury, Connecticut
For the price of a motel room, enjoy a cottage on a lake. Great casual summer-fall vacation place for a small family with room for guests. MINIMUM 14 NIGHT STAY. THOUGH DAILY AND WEEKLY RATES MUST BE SHOWN, WE DO NOT RENT FOR THESE SHORT PERIODS. MONTHLY RATE REQUIRES 32 NIGHT MINIMUM STAY. SEE NOTE BELOW. Great room, master bedroom, and kitchen overlook the lake and dock 35 feet away. Great room has firestove, cozy couch corner, and dining/work table. But most eat sitting on barstools at the kitchen counter... or out on the deck (where, if you sit still the chickadees will eat sunflower seeds out of your hand).

The beautiful main lake is a mile across. The landmark 'Alvord's Tower' forms a scenic backdrop to your kids swimming off your dock. Across the lake, rent a boat, gas up your skiboat, buy bait, or have brunch...

My wife and I and two small children stayed at the cabin for one month after a big road trip adventure across the country from California. It was exactly what we needed! Our pace quickly slowed down to that of this delightful lakeside (and surrounding)...More

Weekly rates used to compute 2, 3 and 4 week rentals. WE DON'T RENT BY THE NIGHT, WEEKEND, OR FOR ONE WEEK. Our turn around costs are too high to make short stays worthwhile. We normally rent for 32 days or longer. We don't rent for 29, 30, or 31 day periods. TO GET THE MONTHLY RATE YOU MUST RENT FOR 32 DAYS OR MORE. At times for various reasons we provide a 2 or 3 week minimum option, which usually can start or stop on any day of the week you want.
Utility Expense Details:
-- June thru November rates include electricity, propane, Comcast Performance internet (download speed up to 25Mbps), and unlimited nation-wide landline phone service. In November, in the unlikely case propane charges are greater than 100$ per week, then the excess will be charged to your security deposit.
-- By special arrangement and qualification, we will rent for a 3 month minimum, from Dec 1, 2017 - May 31, 2018. Rent is...
