Not an "ideal" location and needs repairs and updates
Location: It's been a long time since I've skied Breckenridge, and I may not ski it again. 7 or 8 months before our vacation, we selected The Lift based on customer reviews that said the location was "ideal" and within "walking distance" to Peak 9's Quicksilver Superchair Lift. Walking a half-mile in ski boots carrying 20 lbs of ski equipment along with young kids is not ideal to me, not to mention the pathway to the slopes is not clearly marked and it's easy to get lost since all the buildings look the same. In my opinion, this condo is not at all convenient to the slopes. Worse yet, we went during the most crowded week of the season (Texas spring break), so the wait at the only accessible lift was well over an hour (I haven't experienced a lift line like Quicksilver's since the late 1970s before express lifts were invented; and Quicksilver is a 6-chair super express!). It would be better to stay closer to the mountain at a place having access to more than one lift. The Condo: C112 is good-sized, but it's up a flight of stairs, which is exhausting after the long hike back from the slopes carrying ski equipment in ski boots. The unit could definitely use a facelift, including electrical outlets. With all the smartphones and tablets we wanted to charge at night, it was frustrating that the outlets could not hold an iPhone cube without falling out. The two sleeper sofas have definitely seen better days too. Though no one had to sleep on them because we had enough beds (2 kids shared a queen, parents in another queen, and older kids each had a twin in the other room - that we expected to be a king bed based on prior photos), when we sat around the fireplace and TV at night, the couch cushions sank and slanted into the bar frame - all in all, the couches were very uncomfortable. The beds were all relatively new mattresses made of memory foam, though not a name-brand. I suspect the mattresses on the beds were under a year old based on prior reviews blasting the Lift for old hard mattresses. So if you don't like "cheap" memory foam, beware (I found the mattress tolerable, but not great). Several of the closet sliding doors were off the rails too, so we couldn't open or fully close the closets, but we could see a pile of old bedding wadded up in two of them, presumably bedding for the sleeper sofas, which thankfully we did not need since we would not have been able to access due to the doors being stuck. There were inadequate cooking utensils too. There was only one small pot to cook a can of chili or soup in, and the one frying pan wasn't actually non-stick (it was super cheaply made, and the "non-stick coating" would slough off with the wipe of a wet paper towel). Oven worked fine, cook top is electric and not level (if you are good cook or a "chef," you will hate it). The kitchen is not stocked in any way, so if you want seasoning of any kind, be sure to buy it at the grocery store (including basic salt and pepper). You'll need cooking spray to use the pans and cookie sheet too. There are paper towels and toilet paper though, but no detergent to make use of the in-condo laundry (that drains into the bathtub of the hall bathroom by the way - very awkward and limits use of that bathroom, god-forbid that tub ever gets stopped up), so buy some detergent too if you need to wash any gear during your stay. There was a decent-looking coffee maker in the kitchen, but the plug kept falling out of the outlet, just like our iPhone chargers; same with the toaster - it would unplug itself in the middle of toasting without warning. There was no Tupperware or even Ziplock baggies to store any left-overs in (we purchased a few and left them behind for the next guest), and there is no pantry to store all the food we purchased to cook in the kitchenette. There are several humidifiers to help moisten with the extremely dry air, but the units were decades old and I could tell the filters had never been changed (they should be changed out every few months for health and safety, and the entire units replaced every 12 months). The lighting in the bedrooms and one of the bathrooms was a problem too. There is only one bulb in the bathroom ceiling, no windows, and when the single bulb burned out, it was impossible to use that bathroom. There are no overhead lights in the bedrooms either, so when one turns off the switch by the door, the small lamp used to light the entire room would go out along with the TV since there were not enough plugs in the rooms, and the plugs that were there wouldn't keep anything plugged-in. The old and nasty throw rug in the kitchen was a safety hazard (my son slipped and fell on it) and should be thrown out. The exterior was nice looking and parking was a breeze. Noise wasn't too bad either. It was nice to have 3 full baths (when one could see) with such a large family (we had 4 kids and 2 adults). We were close to the hot tub and pool, and could tell the adult crowd was getting good use of it, but we had some small kids with us, and didn't feel comfortable taking them in with the apres-ski crowd. But adults will like the access to it. Wifi was functional, but the TV cable set up was very old technology, so don't expect to rent or watch a movie on Netflix or Prime. There's an old DVD player in the living room, but nowhere to rent a DVD if you want a movie-night with the fam. Sky Run: People were nice and professional, but it was hard to get through the phone system to the management office (the phone number on the paperwork they handed me at check in had been disconnected), and once I found the number in my email confirmation, I had to enter no less than seven selections to get to the applicable property management (select 1 for Texas hill country properties, select 2 for California properties, select 3 for Colorado properties...select 1 for property X, select 2 for property Y....) to alert them the unit wasn't actually ready as we had been told; kitchen wasn't clean and no functioning light in one bathroom -however, when I did finally reach the office, they promptly sent someone out once they knew of the issues. Overall, I would rate this property as a 2 1/2 out of 5 stars. There are better options out there when booking as far in advance as we did, but we couldn't tell based on the misleading reviews (it's not an "ideal" condo).
