Vacation under the Continental Divide. Enjoy the wonderful Summer Weather or the Winter's 'Best Snow in the Nation' from this totally serene, private hideaway. All mountain activities, e.g. hiking, camping, fishing, hunting, skiing, snowshoeing, and horseback riding are available. Visit the old mining towns of Gold Hill, Blackhawk or Central City. All the amenities of Boulder, e.g. dining, theater, shopping, music, are only 20 minutes away, and for emergency needs the mountain town of Nederland is only 8 minutes away. This home is a ski chalet style and is very comfortable with its large hot tub on the deck, and big fireplace in the living room. There is a baby grand piano, set of drums and guitar for the musically inclined. A carpeted tree hut will keep the kids busy. Wildlife include deer, elk, coyotes, turkeys, bobcats, and occasionally, bear, moose and mountain lion. A separate caretaker's unit which is not very apparent, is located on the lower level of the property. The caretaker is very respectful, unobtrusive and although only present a few days a week, is available by phone, should any emergencies or other problems with the facilities arise. Although not absolutely necessary, it is recommended in the winter months that you have a four wheel drive. This will take the worry out of any adverse weather conditions. Sugarloaf road is always maintained since it is a school bus route and the road from Sugarloaf to the house is plowed, and at worse one can normally drive a two wheel drive vehicle up to the driveway and walk up the driveway. When looking at the rates schedule on this site, please realize that the rates are determined by the number of people and the number of nights stay. I believe that the new way FlipKey has chosen to list rates is not very clear so upon your request I will be happy to provide a complete rental information table. Generally speaking I charge by the number of people and the number of days as follows: # of Adults Price per Night + One time cleaning fee of $85 1 - 2 $280 3 - 4 $330 5 - 6 $380 7 - 8 $430 9 -10 $480 11-12 $530 Up to two children age 6 and under are free. There is an additional $40/day charged for the day immediately before, after and including the major holidays. Small special occasion 'events' may be held here during your stay, such as showers and weddings, parties if arranged with owner. Dogs are allowed in the outside runs with sheds for $10/nt/dog but are not allowed in the house. For more information regarding rates contact the owner. More

We stayed at Larry's house with our two teenager sons for five days. Tripadvisor ratings are difficult because you compare huts to manors. Larrys house gets five stars because it is exactly what is descriped on his page. On top of that Larry is very...More

About the neighborhood
In the mountains 14 miles west of Boulder at 8700 feet, sitting under the Continental Divide and the Indian Peaks Wilderness Area, this property borders the Roosevelt National Forest and is very private and serene. The main road from Boulder is a mountain school bus route and is therefore always maintained. Exact directions to the property are available and are always e-mailed to renters. There is off road parking next to the house, enough for quite a few vehicles. The closest ski area is about fifteen minutes away (Lake Eldora Ski Area); Most all the major ski areas are within an hour from this location.
How to get there
Specific directions will be provided to guests upon receipt of final payment.
