Our vacation house on several wooded acres has all the amenities that make a vacation comfortable and enjoyable. The sunlit dining/sun room faces the deck and pond. The loft-style master bedroom has queen bed and a fold-out double-size futon suitable for children or close family members, and full bathroom with separate shower and jacuzzi bathtub. Please note there is an unfenced shallow decorative pond next to the house so younger children must be watched. The garage is used for owner storage and is not available unless wheelchair access to the house is needed. The circular driveway can hold multiple vehicles. The kitchen is well equipped for even gourmet cooking, and suitable for holiday meals. There is a simple charcoal barbecue on the porch, firewood for the fireplace and charcoal are provided. If there is something special needed, our local housekeeper/manager will bring it for you. The property is a quiet and lovely retreat from which you can sometimes hear seals barking or watch deer in the yard. The house is perfect for a romantic couple or family trip.More

Our family usually stays in motels/hotels and we had never rented a house before so I was super skeptical - the pictures & pricing almost seemed too good to be true. Frankly, I would have felt more comfortable with 'live contact' with the home owner prior to paying our entire balance but we took the leap (hopeful that TripAdvisor's "Payment Protection" was legit) and turns out, it was very well worth it! This was a fantastic first house rental experience. The transaction was smooth, the grounds manager (Cindy) readily available & informative, and the home is everything it claims to be - just awesome! We used it as a "home base" for our daily explorations of the magnificent redwood forests and picturesque CA coastline from Fort Bragg up to Crescent City. The kitchen had everything we needed, the beds were comfortable and we totally enjoyed the board games that were available. A working VCR/DVD player would have been nice and better water pressure in the showers... but if that is the only downside, I'd say we completely lucked out and made an excellent vacation choice!! And the privacy here is a welcome change! I highly recommend staying at this "Idyllic Log Home Near Coast" if you're exploring the Trinidad area and beyond. This house is lovely. Thank you!!

The place was perfect for our family of 4. The kitchen is spacious and well stocked. There are excellent views from all the windows and the home is light filled. The proximity to Trinidad and Patrick's Point State Park is excellent.

Enjoyed our stay at this beautiful home; well supplied for great meals. The garden was lush and colorful and we loved hearing the sound of the frog (or toad) in the evening. The location was ideal for getting to the many hiking spots suggested in various books. Would recommend highly.

A fantastic home and wonderful spot to have a family getaway. The manager was extremely helpful in the introduction to the home and everything went without a hitch in a sometimes complex family dynamic. Thanks so much for making this home available to us.

Spent a week here exploring the redwoods, it was the perfect location! The photos do not do the home justice, it was stunning. Kitchen was well stocked with all essentials and many extras. The master bath had a Jacuzzi tub that was wonderful after a day of hiking. Beautiful fireplace for those cool evenings. Could not have been happier!! Hope to be back soon

The Cabin in Trinidad was a beautiful home with awesome views from all windows... I would highly recommend friends and family to stay there... Everything we needed was there... We just needed to bring our clothes... We hiked the Redwood Trees and walked the beautiful ocean with all the magnificent boulders and stone landscape... Bought a small Giant Redwood tree to bring home and plant... So many memories can't list them all... God Bless...

We have stayed here twice and loved it both times. The house is very comfortable and clean. The new bed upstairs was heaven, rather tall, but still heaven. Cindy the caretaker met us when we arrived. Cindy is friendly and very helpful. Beautiful log cabin with lovely grounds!

We stayed at this house for a week with our 3 children for our family summer vacation. We loved having the kitchen, laundry, and separate bedroom for kids. We loved the nearby beaches, and of course the Redwoods. The vacation was great, the amenities were great.

The house was exactly as advertised, beautiful location just inform the sea, so although the ocean winds were howling, it was calm where the house was, we enjoyed sitting outside for meals and to just relax with a glass of wine. An excellent time f year to be there, as the weather in the early fall is great on the coast.

No complaints about this lovely log home, none whatsoever. There were three of us staying here for two nights (my wife and her sister) as we used the house as a base for exploring Redwood National Park. Easy to make the reservation through Flipkey. Owners were very responsive to questions. Met at the house by a member of the management company. Bailey. Very helpful. She went over the do’s and don’ts at the house, showed us how everything worked, and also answered some questions on places to eat and things to do in the area. The house is very nice and in a good location. Very near Trinidad. Good access to route 101. Quiet and fairly secluded. We could hear the ocean from the front porch which was very pleasant in the evening. Plenty of space in the house. The owners did a nice job of defining the rules (hey, it is their house so they have a right to keep it looking nice!). Large open kitchen and living space. The master suite is an upstairs loft with lots of room. The cabin is very bright, open and inviting. We spent the late afternoon and early evening out on the front porch just enjoying the serenity of the area. A great way to end the day after exploring along the coast and hiking through the giant Redwoods. While the cabin is located at the southern end of Redwood National and State Parks, it is still a fairly convenient base for exploring throughout the park. The drive time from the cabin to the trailhead to Enderts Beach was about 1:15. Overall it was a lovely stay in a great house. I would certainly rent this idyllic log cabin in the future when visiting the area.

About the neighborhood
Charming log house is located in a wooded setting in a cleared area of property. House is quiet and set back on the east side of Patrick's Point Dr; homes on the other side of the road are ocean-front. We're located between downtown Trinidad and Patrick's Point State Park. Downtown Trinidad is 2.5 miles south of us, and Patrick's Point State Park is 2.5 miles North. Murphy's market is the local Trinidad market and has organic vegetables, fresh local fish and many other local items. It's a full service grocery store. There are also several nice restaurants in and around Trinidad. There is a golf course near the airport about 8 to ten miles. Within a 8 minute walk from the house, the Larrupin Cafe offers jazz in the summers, fresh fish and grass fed meats, a free hors d'oeuvres board for the table, and wonderful desserts. The Moonstone Grill at Moonstone Beach is a short drive south and offers wonderful, comparable food and an unobstructed view of the Pacific especially beautiful at sunset. Nearby 2 miles North of our property you'll find Patrick's Point State Park, with archaeological sites of Yurok tribes, paths both through the forests and to rocky overlooks and down to the ocean where seals are often just out of arms reach. 30 minutes North is the best hiking among old growth redwoods, that we've seen in California. There are several days worth of trails, both level and challenging and short loops on these trails along the creek and through the redwoods. Also at Prairie Creek State Park there are herds of elk and Fern Canyon documented on the KPBS series, 'California's Gold'. Pictures of Fern canyon can be found on Google maps. You'll find many miles of peaceful road biking and beautiful forest trails for mountain bikes. Kayaks can be rented on some of the lagoons. If you love to fly fish, there is catch and release fly fishing on the Snake River. If you prefer to bring your catch home, there are many rivers with salmon and steelhead trout. Crabs and halibut can be netted/caught in the lagoons. There are miles of deserted beaches to explore and many rivers and streams. The Arcata Airport is about 18 miles south and just south of is the college town of Arcata. We discovered this area when our daughter started her classes at Humboldt State University. You'll be able to pick blueberries in nearby Mckinleyville at Wolfsen Farms. College Cove State Beach can be accessed from downtown Trinidad and through the forest off of Stagecoach Road. The garage is for owner storage and is not available for guest parking except by prior arrangement (e.g., for wheelchair access). Pets: Some pets OK with prior notice. Wheelchair accessibility: first floor access can be arranged via a ramp from the garage. Bathroom is not ADA-compliant. Children: A shallow decorative pond is not fenced, small children require supervision.
