CasparCottage is a very charming, private, quiet cottage that my husband and I built on our five private acres at the eastern edge of the Russian Gulch State Park, with a lovely walk through the redwood forest to the WATERFALL in the park. We are located just three miles up the ridge from the ocean and ten minutes from Mendocino or Fort Bragg. It's a perfect place for a honeymoon, anniversary, special occasion or quiet retreat. It has a comfortable queen bed with down comforter and nice linens, new sleeper sofa (that accommodates one adult or two small children), fully equipped kitchen, gas BBQ and picnic table with string lights above for the evenings, lovely custom cabinetry and a beautiful marble tiled bathroom with a jet tub and large shower. The cottage is very comfortable and nicely... The cottage is very comfortable and nicely appointed with original art. Flames from an enameled European propane stove bring the warmth and coziness of a fire with the convenience of a thermostat. There is a Bose radio, 32' flat screen DIRECTV w/ HBO, DVD/VCR with small library of films, Satellite wireless INTERNET connection, iron and hairdryer. For our guests we provide organic coffee and tea, nice bread and jam and fresh fruit and flowers (usually from our garden). From the cottage you can walk through the Redwoods to a beautiful WATERFALL, as we are near the Russian Gulch State Park Waterfall Trail and also bicycle trails in Jackson State Forest. We will gladly direct you to great restaurants, nice beaches, beautiful hikes and activities on the coast. Mendocino is full of wonderful activities from hiking and biking and kayaking in our many State Parks to wine tasting and fine dining. There are beautiful deserted beaches for beach combing and horseback riding and art galleries and unique shops for browsing. There is a Mendocino Music Festival held in a huge tent overlooking the ocean for two weeks in July and the Mendocino Film Festival in early June, as well as Whale Festivals in March, a Mushroom Festival in November and a Crab and Wine Festival in January. The TOTAL cost is $150 nightly on weekdays December through February, $165 on weekends. In March, April and November it is $165 nightly. In May, June and September $175, and in July and August and on all holidays $185 nightly. Weekly rates $800 - $1150. OUR PRICES INCLUDE TAX AND CLEANING! Interaction with guests
The cottage is open and ready for guests when they arrive and after they get settled in I usually go over and greet them and let them know that we're available to them if they have any questions. Guests are welcome to visit our garden and my husband's woodworking shop and my art studio. Many quests come year after year and we've become friends with quite e few. We enjoy sharing our little oasis with our guests.

About the neighborhood
CasparCottage is located near the end of a quiet road, at the eastern edge of the Russian Gulch State Park and across the road from Jackson State Forest. From the cottage you can walk down through a Redwood canyon to the 30 foot waterfall in the park. We are just five minutes from the beach and ten minutes from the village of Mendocino or Fort Bragg. On our five private acres we built the cottage and also our home and my husband's one man woodworking shop and my art studio which are nearby, but obscured by trees and a garden. The cottage is very private. It sits in the sun and is surrounded on the north side by trees. The dark night sky provides views to the stars of the Milky Way and the full moon. You'll like it!
How to get there
Directions from San Francisco: We are about 3 hours from the Golden Gate Bridge if you take Highway 101 North to Cloverdale and go West on Highway 128 which is a beautiful, but windy road that goes over a mountain and through the hills, through Boonville, past many small picturesque wineries in the Anderson Valley, and though a Redwood forest before reaching the coast and going North on Highway 1 to Mendocino. Alternately, you could take Highway 101 North to Highway 116 West and then 12 West to the coast at Bodega Bay, and up the coast to Mendocino from there. It takes maybe an hour longer, but it is a spectacular drive, especially on a clear day. Directions from Mendocino: Going North on Highway 1, go 3 miles past Mendocino and TURN RIGHT on ROAD 409. Continue up the road for 3 miles a...
