Cabin -
4 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms, Sleeps 8
Graeagle, Plumas County, California
This classic mountain cabin, which we have named "Mt. Elwell," is located at the edge of the northern Sierra Nevada's Mohawk Valley, just a few miles outside of Graeagle/Blairsden. We are 1 hour west from Reno, 50 miles north of Truckee, and 2.5 hours from the Sacramento area. Mt. Elwell is one of a cluster of cabins that were part of the lumber mill known as the Penman Peak Lumber Company that was established in the mid-1920's. With nearly a mile of a National Wild and Scenic River, the Middle Fork of the Feather River winds through our 40 acres and can be viewed from the private back deck. Located along scenic Highway 70, the property is surrounded by U.S. Forest Service land and to add a nostalgic reminder of our industrial age in transition, the Western Pacific railway snakes along the river the length of the pro... We were even blessed with a gorgeous snowfall at the cabin while we were there…actually so much snow that weekend in the Sierra that we had to stay a day longer because of the road situation leaving the Sierra. Janet and Rich are phenomenal hosts...

Reviewed August 17, 2016 for a stay in August 2016

Everything was great and it's a nice little walk down to the river. Janet who runs the rental was great to work with! One queen bed and 4 twin beds (3 bedrooms total). The one inconvenience was that there is only one shower in the cabin and it's tucked away in one of the bedrooms with twin beds. The bathroom...

Reviewed August 5, 2015 for a stay in July 2015

Stayed for 2 nights in July, 3 couples. The cabin was amazing...rustic enough for the setting but immaculate, well furnished and had everything we needed for meal preparation. Just need to bring the food. Our stay was a great combination of relaxation and hiking, etc. in the local area, which has so much to offer. The hosts were perfect. Wished...
