About the neighborhood
Arena Sol y Mar is along the quieter south stretch of beach in Crucita. Neighbors are the families of fishermen, or the weekend beach houses of families from the area and city of Portoviejo. Small tienda ( corner store) is available for essentials 1 block away, there is a small restaurant on the same block. Other restaurants and shops in central and northern Crucita are only a 5-15 minute walk. On-site custodian can provide gas cylinders and drinking water bottles at a nominal cost ( reimbursed by owner ) when necessary--delivered and hooked up for a small tip ! Saturday Market in Arenales ( Crucita North) is 3 km away, larger Charapoto Sunday Market is 22 km distant--fresh veg and fruits pass by the condo in trucks and carts daily !
Getting around
Bus stop and Taxis are 6 Blocks away by the town park. There is also an ATM there. Shopping, services malls are in Portoviejo ( 35 minute taxi--$ 13-16--45 minutes to 1 hour bus--$ 1.10) and Manta ( 40 minutes taxi--$ 15-20--and 1.25 to 2 hours bus--$ 1.40). Trips in town by motorcycle taxi ( 'motos') cost $.50. You have a dedicated parking space in the gated, secured parking lot but a car is not necessary for enjoying daily living; you may wish to rent one for a few days of independent exploration of the coastal beaches.
