Located on the outskirts of the coastal town of Portaferry its is convenient to many local shops, bars, restaurants and attractions including the 'Exploris' Aquarium, the ferry service to the village of Strangford and local beaches. Externally the property is surrounded by mature gardens with barbecue area, decking and spacious driveway with ample parking This house has oil fired central heating and an open fire in the lounge with all fuel costs included during your stay there is also a washing machine and tumble dryer along with an espresso coffee maker and a welcome pack of basic essentials is also provided free of charge along with access to Wi-FI. There are a variety of shops-pharmacy-churches in Portaferry 1 km away-bus services are available also All in all, this is a truly impressive house that offers excellent accommodation, a superb location, beautiful views and is set just a short distance from the shores of Strangford Lough. Your host can also offer you tailored outdoor activities such as canoeing-kayaking-biking-hill walking-canyoning-camping to suit your needs during your visit. Rental costs are £160-00 per night with a minimum stay of 2 nights fully inclusive of electricity heating and Vat a booking deposit of 50% is required on booking and balance on arrival a cancellation fee of 20% will be charged for cancellations made within 30 days prior to booking- a full refund will be given for cancellations made over 30 days. A damage deposit of £100 is required on arrival which will be returned at the end of the booking period provided there is no damage to the house. Activities are not included and are charged separately- prices available on request Smoking is not allowed in the house but you may smoke outside. As the owner I'm always on hand should you need anything at anytime I also offer adventure activities such as canoe and kayak trips,guided mountain walks,sightseeing trips, fishing trips,bike hire,archery to name a few. As Gweebarra is close to strangford lough the are many connections and location associated with game of thrones. Saul is close by which is where Saint Patrick shepherded sheep and Saul church is 30 mins way. There are two national trust properties within 20 minutes drive from Gweebarra Explosions aquarium is based locally in Portaferry Historic Kearny village is also 5 minutes away and is one location used for the BBC drama My mother and other strangers. Saint cooey,s wells is also nearby,knockenelder beach 2km.

We enjoyed a wonderful relaxing week at this property. It's location is stunning surrounded by lovely green rolling countryside with Strangford lough nearby. The house is very well equipped with everything needed for self catering. There is also a very good hotel in Portaferry town...More

Perfect for a quiet getaway Close to beach, shops etc and lovely nature all around an absolute joy! Well appointed house so charming and comfortable with stunning views all around. Lovely grounds and gardens. Great fishing spots, the sea lough is amazing!

About the neighborhood
Close to the lovely strangford lough and the town of Portaferry Gweebarra is ideally situated close to the town but just far enough away to enjoy the peace and tranquility of open countryside. Fine dining is available in the local hotel with a selection of pubs to choose from. Nearby there are several national trust properties some of which were used as locations for game of thrones . The area has many interesting places to visit with wild countryside walks,the mountains of Mourne are just 30 minutes away if you take the ferryboat from Portaferry. Good fishing on the lough and golfing and diving available locally and othe sporting interests can be arranged through Gweebarra along with bike hire. Lots to do and see for everyone.
Getting around
House is in a rural setting 1km from the town of Portaferry which has 3 small supermarkets, pubs,and restaurants. Set on a peninsula you are never far from the sea and there are lots of interesting places to visit locally and for game of thrones fans there are some film locations close by. Portaferry is also home to the exploris aquarium. There is a ferry between Portaferry and the village of Strangford Downpatrick is 15 minutes from Strangford,Downpatrick is the area of saint Patrick i.e. Where he lived and is buried in the historic town. Beyond Downpatrick are the mountains of Mourne.
