Family House is a lovely cottage, clean comfortable and well equipped. There was plenty of space for the two of us. The wifi was a bit flaky at peak times, but hey, we were in the wilds of South Uist! Waking up to the crack of the corncrake on the machair was very special, and then seeing the seals in Loch Eyenort. A lovely week with happy memories.

There’s a corn craik somewhere?
All good as it was for previous two visits. Only problem this time was very poor signal for O2 mobile.

Visit No3 already being planned.
Our second visit to this homely cottage. Weather not as good as 2018, but we did hear the corncrake this year.

Beautifully maintained property which suited our needs perfectly
Delightful but small house which is very well equipped and ideal for two singles possibly two couples. The bedrooms are small with a double bed in each but who wants to spend their holiday in bed? Living accommodation is spacious with all mod cons and the kitchen / diner is big. Fabulous location. Large well stocked supermarket only 5 minutes drive away. There is a local bus service that passes the front door. This house was perfect for our needs.

satisfied customer
I couldnt have been more pleased by the cottage we stayed in Kilpheder,South Uist.It had everything required in a holiday let and more. The beds were comfortable and out of the window we saw a buzzard, owl and deer.It was an ideal location for our fishing and golf trip and visiting family. From the evening we arrived until we left the Corncrake was outside, but i still havent seen it.I would definitely return to The Family Home

Spotlessly Clean
Perfect size for two friends. Bedrooms are a bit small, a small chair to drape clothes over would have been welcome.

Perfect Island Cottage
Beautiful, clean and fresh island cottage with sheep for neighbours. Absolutely recommend it and only wish we could've stayed longer to appreciate all the natural beauty of South Uist.

Lovely cottage in walking distance from the beach
Lovely cottage in walking distance from the beach. Everything that we needed for a comfortable stay was provided and there was an off-road car parking space (use of a car is recommended). The Coop at Daliburgh was fine for our fresh food supplies. We used the cottage as a base for exploring and did some trout fishing in South Uist - permits from Stòras Uibhist in Daliburgh. The cottage was ideal for the two of us and we had a nice relaxing holiday. We often heard the calls of the corncrake in the field across the road from the cottage, but we never did see it.

Coming from North Uist/Benbecula
When you come off ferry follow signs to Lochboisdale. At Borrodale hotel in Daliburgh, take the 2nd exit B888.. You will pass the Coop on your left, continue on and you will pass Daliburgh school and a Chip shop/petrol station. Continue to the 2nd cross road 'Boisdale' and turn right and then right again at the post box. Family house is the 2nd house on the right. It has a 337 sign on the outside.
