The cottage has been renovated throughout, keeping all its charm and character with stone walls and original oak beams. Comfortable and spacious with French doors leading onto your own private patios, set in the 2 acre garden, swim or relax in the gorgeous pool area, surrounded by lush green countryside,the cottage now has unlimited free Wi-Fi,. Le Vieux Cerier is a little hamlet with a church and bar,local riding centre, 5 minutes drive from the quiet village of Champagne Mouton, where you will find all the essentials you will need. We are also only a 25 minute drive from Ruffec and Confolens, both being pretty towns with a full range of shops, bars and restaurants. Condac on the Charente River is also only a 20 minute drive, where you can swim, canoe, picnic BBQ or just relax.

Fabulous gite
Located 5 minute drive from Champagne Mouton, Prairie Views has everything you need for a quiet, relaxing holiday. Located next to the owner's house, the gite is well equipped with everything you need for a fantastic holiday. The lovely large bedroom and incredible bathroom are ideal and the open plan lounge and kitchen make for a relaxing place after a hard days sunbathing. The pool is very clean and was ours exclusively for the 2-weeks. Places of interest nearby include Ruffec, Angouleme and Confolens but there are dozens of love little villages within a 30 minute drive. The real bonus of this gite are the owners, Paul and Jude who are the perfect hosts. Friendly and genuine but never intrusive they, with their lovely daughters, made this the perfect holiday for us.

Very cute and french country style
Owned by the adjacently living, very friendly English expats, this is a charmingly French style furnished , well converted little cottage outside the inevitably quiet village of Vieux Cerier, with ample room for two and thoughtfully provided with essentials - like a bottle of wine. Champagne Mouton is a few minutes drive away , a declined ex-market town, but still with a boulangerie and a Pharmacist. Ideally positioned for three good local restaurants . But this is a beef farming area, in real country and if you are a pathetic townie who squeals at the sight of a wasp or fly, you will need to stay indoors ! Oh and you must meet the only very friendly Ginger female cat we have ever known . Sweeet .

Fantastic stay overall with beautiful views,,in a lovely setting and welcoming owners who were friendly and kind.
I stayed at prairie views at the end of August for a few days,,the gite was lovely and clean with great peaceful views.the owners were very welcoming friendly and helpful during my stay.The pool and surroundings were lovely with lots of walks and places to visit.I would defiantly recommend this place to visit I defiantly will be back.

Great place to stay.
Great place to stay. Excellent hosts in lovely peaceful surroundings. Perfect base to visit the many beautiful lakes and place of interest. Everything you need to be found in the gite and the pool was just what we needed for the hot summer days. Would definitely stay again.

perfect for the holiday we like best
We were looking for somewhere comfortable, quiet, friendly, in the country but near shops, with almost exclusive use of a swimming pool and with very good hosts. and we got just what we wanted!

Splendid!
We arrived to find a lovely gite that was exactly as we expected. The pool was prefect for a daily dip after touring the local area, the bed was comfortable and the bottle of wine most welcome. There are not many places we would return to, but we would go back here like a shot - even given fresh produce from Paul's garden for dinner! Merci beaucoup!! :)

Fabulously welcoming and relaxing.
We had ten lovely days. We were looking for a quiet relaxing break in comfortable easy surroundings & Prairie Views was perfect. Jude and Paul are lovely, welcoming and helpful but not intrusive. The Gite was very comfortable and well equipped & the outside areas and pool were lovely to sit in the sun or shade and to eat or just relax. We found so many fantastic places to visit within easy travelling distance. Fantastic, would highly recommend.

Wonderful gite for relaxing break
We've just returned from a week staying in Jude and Paul's wonderful gite which exceeded all our expectations. The gite is beautifully decorated and has everything you might need - including a fabulous pool. Whether you want to relax and unwind or use the gite as a base for exploring the region, it's perfect. It's also great for cycling - the Charente Velo routes are great for all levels and route 48 passes the front door - so whether you want to do 5km or 150km, no problem! We will definitely be returning and would definitely recommend it!

What can I say, but a big thank you to Jude and her family for a wonderful stay. The setting of the gite is so peaceful , with beautiful scenery, a swimming pool which came in handy as weather was great, a perfect area for exploring, a local bar to have a cold beer, great for walks. Would definitely recommend this place to stay for a perfect relaxing holiday. Will definitely book again. Oh nearly forgot- loved our daily visit to the chickens and roaming around the veg patch . Which were within the area of the gite. So Jude and Paul thanks once again for a great stay, take care

This is the best holiday home we have stayed in. Jude and her family provided everything we would require for a relaxing holiday. Towels were provided which we don't normally have offered and even pool towels. We had a choice of internal or external dining and with the weather being so fantastic, we dined out each day. The pool made a refreshing addition to our holiday and the under-cover seating area meant we could escape the sun as required. The area was private and peaceful and as we love wildlife, the gentle call of the birds was lovely. It was so relaxing and enjoyable we didn't want to come home. Thanks to Jude and her family for making our holiday perfect.

About the neighborhood
Champagne Mouton has a bank, post office, supermarket, petrol station, pharmacy and various other shops, a hotel, restaurant and bar, the village also has a small market on Tuesdays and Fridays.Famous Nanteuil has 2 excellent restaurants and Verteuil is very picturesque with great bars and restaurants both 15 mins drive from the property.. The village of Condac has a good restaurant, which used to be a mill, overlooking the River Charente. The restaurant has an amazing terrace which is open in the summer with great views to go with the great food served here, there is also a disco next door which opens at the weekend. Confolens is a very pretty medieval town which sits on the banks of the River Vienne. It also hosts a music festival in August, where you can experience all kinds of music and dancing from all over the world. Angouleme is a great place to visit with its vast array of bars and superb restaurants, its historic buildings and its fabulous shopping. There are also tours around the distilleries in Cognac, Futurescope at Poitiers, Vallee de Singes, golf velo rail and nautical activities at the lakes. All in all there is something in this part of France to suit everyone. All the towns in the chosen photographs are within an easy 30 mins drive from the property. Cycles with property.

Ryanair fly from Liverpool, East Midlands, Southampton and Stansted to Limoges which is about 1 hours drive. They also fly from Stansted to Angouleme 40 mins, Poitiers 1 hour, La Rochelle 2 hours. BMI Baby fly from Manchester and East Midlands to Bordeaux and British Airways from Gatwick to Bordeaux, which is about 1 hour 45 mins. There is also the TGV from Paris to Angouleme and Ruffec which takes 2 - 2.5 hours. The closest ferry ports are St Malo and Caen both about 4.5 hours away.
