The famous Royal Welsh show is held every July in Builth Wells, this brings lots of visitors to the area and is a must see show.
The local small town of Llanwrtyd Wells offers various activities and events throughout the year including: Man V Horse - this is an annual event held in June, whereby people see if they are equal to a horse over a 22 mile course. You can enter in a relay team of 3 people or just go along and watch the fun. World Bog Snorkelling Championships - This event has been taking place in August for over 20 years now. there are two trenches 60 yards long and four feed deep, the aim is to swim two lengths of the bog with flippers and snorkel in the fastest time - only doggy paddle is allowed !! Again take part or just spectate !!!
Red Kite Bash - this event attracts dozens of moutain bikers and ordinary cyclists alike. Over 4 days you will ride through natural and purpose built single tract, forest roads and bridleways. There are routes to suit everyone.
Brecon Jazz Festival held in August. Hay-on-Wye Festival held in May.
