Cottage
Granary Cottage has been converted to a high standard, it retains its character whilst providing modern facilities. The cottage is furnished with a mix of old and modern to give guests comfortable, stylish and relaxing accommodation. It is an ideal base to explore this hidden area of Mid Wales with its rolling hills, small farmsteads and market towns. A great place just to sit and enjoy the clean air and open skies, watch the wildlife, walk, amble or sit in the garden. Wonderful quiet walking from the cottage door on our own land and further afield. We welcome well behaved dogs. (£25 for one and £15 for second) The views are quite stunning with views to the near and distant hills. On the ground floor there is a spacious well equipped modern kitchen with dining area and one double bedded...

A Perfect Family Holiday with endless adventures
Waking up to endless, beautiful views on the farm - our walks with the dog were stunning!
Granary Cottage is like a home away from home in an ideal, tranquil setting. The beds were super comfy, the kitchen had everything we needed and the dining area and lounge were perfect for cards and games.
Margot and Anthony were the perfect hosts and were lovely to speak too.
We enjoyed visiting the lake at Llandrindod Wells and we hired pedalos and fishing rods. We ventured further afield to The Elan Valley and Pen Y Fan too.
The stars at night will be a lasting memory - just breath-taking to see.
My children (13 &10) had an amazing time, visiting the stream, stroking Melly the horse and exploring the farm (the map was super helpful.)
I strongly recommend Granary Cottage and we will return.

A cosy, comfortable, well-equipped cottage with friendly hosts.
This is a great place for walkers, with plenty of local paths and beautiful locations like the Elan Valley and the Wye river walk in easy reach. The cottage was a delight, and so comfortable - with a beautiful view of the surrounding hills from the sitting-room window.

Wonderful place to stay.
My friend and I cannot praise this venue and owners enough. Granary cottage is off the beaten track but if you love stunning views and peace and quiet, except for the baaing of sheep, you cannot go wrong, Margot is a thoughtful and friendly host who has converted an old barn into a tasteful and well equipped ‘home from home’.
2 miles from the cottage you drop down into Llandrindod Wells pass a beautiful lake which is worth a visit especially as the shop makes good coffee!
On the whole a wonderful week as the cottage is well situated to travel to so many lovely parts of Wales.

Great cottage in a lovely area
Lovely two story cottage with everything you need within a working farm but so peaceful and tranquil with fantastic views. The lanes and fields surrounding the farm are ideal for walking (with or without dogs, we took our two small dogs and as dog lovers Margot and Anthony gave us a warm welcome). Situated close to town with Llandrindod golf course on the doorstep and a nearby lake with more nature trails to explore even during lockdown. Lovely break and we will return.

Fantastic cottage with amazing views
The cottage was immaculately clean and the perfect size for our mother and daughter getaway. Both bedrooms are en suite which gives that little extra luxury and isn’t often the case in 2 bedrooms properties. It’s in a remote location up beautiful winding roads but at the same time is only 10 minutes drive from the town of Llandrindod Wells which has all the facilities needed eg supermarkets, local shops, pharmacy, train station, library. In the cottage we arrived to the beds all made up and lovely plump towels in each bathroom. It’s been converted beautifully with visible beams and a large velux window in the living room (which is upstairs). From here the views of the mountains, complete with sheep of course, are absolutely stunning. The owners are friendly and helpful but also won’t intrude on your stay at all, despite living in the farmhouse next door. Overall we had a fantastic time and we’re so happy we found this accommodation. We felt it was also magnificent value for money. Oh and also, there’s free WiFi!

Heavenly pet friendly cottage in perfect rural location
We stayed at Granary Cottage for three nights whilst attending the Welsh Kennel Club show at Builth Wells. The cottage was perfect in every way; clean and tidy, well set up, spacious and in a tranquil location. Our dogs loved roaming the lanes and fields, and the night skies were amazing. Margot was the perfect host, showing us how things worked, pointing out the best places to visit and eat and generally making sure our stay went smoothly. My only regret was that we could only stay for three nights but I'm pretty sure that we will be back.

Pet-friendly, gorgeous views, perfect hosts
This cottage was 2.5 miles out of LLandrindod Wells and easy access to lots of interesting places and dramatic countryside. Lovely quiet location with absolutely stunning views from the upstairs lounge window. Our dog loved the area and it was the perfect introduction to family holidays for her, as it was her first one. Our hosts Margot and Anthony were very friendly and helpful. The cottage was well equipped and comfortable and we all thoroughly enjoyed our week's holiday - very relaxing. Thank you.

About the neighborhood
Llandrindod Wells is a small Victorian Spa town, which in its heyday had 90,000 visitors a year. The Victorian architecture, the Rock Park gardens, Temple gardens, a small theatre and a 13 acre lake with a boathouse café all make this a pleasant town to explore. It still has individual shops as well as major supermarkets. Llandrindod Wells Victorian Festival is held in August and culminates in a magnificent firework display on the lake. Eating out is varied with local pubs, a Thai restaurant, hotels and a wine bar all in the Llandrindod area. For the walker, there are footpaths and bridleways in the surrounding countryside which is a peaceful landscape of uplands, hill farms and river valleys. The popular Offa’s Dyke, Glyndwr’s Way and Wye Valley walk are amongst the many long distance routes in the area. The beautiful Elan Valley’s spectacular dams are about twenty minutes away, as is Gigrin Farm where you can watch the Red Kites feed. Fifteen minutes away is The Hall at Abbey Cwm Hir, a fine example of Victorian Gothic Revival Architecture. At Christmas all fifty two rooms are decorated. Hay on Wye is known worldwide for its second hand bookshops, this lovely small town has individual shops and some great places to eat. Every May it hosts the famous Hay Literary Festival. Builth Wells sits on the banks of the River Wye and is home to the Royal Welsh Showground, where in July the Royal Welsh Show, one of the largest agricultural shows in Europe, is held. Other events are held throughout the year. Builth Wells is also home to the delightful Wyeside Cinema, a comfortable place to watch the latest releases with a glass of wine. Kington is another small market town on the Radnorshire/Herefordshire border. From the town you can walk up onto Hergest Ridge with spectacular views of the surrounding countryside. Hergest Croft Gardens extend to over 70 acres with more than 5000 rare trees and shrubs described as one of the finest collections of trees and shrubs in Britain. Ludlow is just over the border in Shropshire, famous for its many restaurants, two of them with Michelin stars. Throughout the summer there are local shows and fetes, one of the larger being Kington Show in September. Trotting races are popular and there are local races at Pennybont about 6 miles away. Activities include riding, either with tuition or half or full days hacks across the hills, fishing on some of the best beats the Wye has to offer for salmon, trout, grayling and coarse fish and on the many lakes and pools. Golf at Llandrindod Wells Golf Club, rated amongst the best in Wales, offers the chance to play links type golf amongst the rolling hills. Llandrindod Wells Bowling Club is the largest bowling club in Wales with 3 greens of international standard. Within half an hours drive from Llandrindod there is a rally school and clay pigeon shooting grounds.

Getting around
There is a train station in Llandrindod Wells which is on the Heart of Wales line that runs from 121 miles from Shrewsbury to Swansea. It is a very scenic route, passing through glorious countryside and small attractive stations. At these small stations you will need to tell the guard you want to get off or put your hand out if you want to get on! It's a great way to see some of the little towns and attractions along the line, you can stop off and have lunch and then catch the train back.
If you are coming from the north you can get connections from Manchester, Crewe and onto Shrewsbury.
