Idyllic isolation
Well worth the drive down the long and winding single track road! Great sea views and easy access to the most picturesque beach. Very comfortable house with everything you need to have a really comfortable stay. Dog friendly too with a fabulous garden complete with stream for them to play in. If you're looking for somewhere to get away from it all, then this is it.

Location excellent but weekly management inadequate.
Thursday 9th (day before arrival): Notified by proprietor that oven element required replacement, hopefully by the Monday 13th. I e-mailed enquiry on Tuesday 14th about replacement not having been installed but received no response (or acknowledgement). Left on 17th, oven still without new element. One of my guests found bed linen was dirty [small blood (?) stains]. I e-mailed on 16th reference breakage: apologising and enquiring how we should pay for this. I received no response (or acknowledgement). I gather that the proprietor lives in Edinburgh, the cleaning (and maintenance?) company in Stornaway - thus effective weekly management and oversight is inadequate.

Lovely location, shame the property wasn't as nice.
Property is in a lovely but remote location, 30 mins drive down a " roller coaster road ". There is no drinking water at this property, water come from the stream running through the garden and is brown with a distinctive smell. The property is tired holes in floor and peeling paint. Don't expect a quick response from owner if you have any issues or want your damage deposit returned.

Perfect for a natur loving familly
Glorig Croft House is a cosy, spacious and well equipped home from home, perfect for a familly. The house stands high on the cliffs overlooking the Atlantic with views all around to wild mounaint slopes and the sandy bay of Hushinish where there are plenty scenic walks to beaches beyond. Quite a natural playground for children and adults. The locals are very friendly and helpfull. A place where time stands still especially when the one track road is occupied by sheep or highland cattle. The location is good for exploring both north or south Harris but you dont really need to as it has so much to offer. Wild weather, breathtaking scenary and ever changing light.

Haven by the Sea
This was the most wonderful week in spectacular location. Lots to see around the house including of course the amazing Huishnish beach. Walks around the mountains give views of St Kilder and glimpses of Eagles . Even in wet weather the conservatory allows you to watch the clouds and waves whilst staying warm and dry. It's very family and dog friendly , very comfortable accommodation.

Beautiful, interesting and peaceful
We had a perfect holiday. The house is extremely comfortable, situated in a beautiful place and the beach is just down the road. We explored the Island on a few days, it is an ancient land. My brother and son climbed the mountains, I loved it and feel rested and ready fir London again. I really want to go back.

Perfect week
We and our dogs loved every minute of our stay in Glorig Croft House. The house and location were perfect for us. Long walks on the beautiful beaches, long evenings in the conservatory gazing at the sea. It's a really special place. Even the weather cooperated: Windy with dramatic clouds, but lots of sunshine. Thank you, Marion, for this wonderful week.

Great place for family get together
A place near the end of a long and interesting winding road with spectacular views. An ideal out of the way place for a gathering a family with only minimal distractions of their social lives. The local visiting Highland cattle with their new born calves were an added attraction. The usual changable Hebredian weather wasn't much of a hinderence for enjoying two weeks of relaxation, and ideal place from which to exploer more of Harris and Lewis.

Best holiday home
We are not long back from a week in this fantastic holiday home. This place was so well equipped and comfortable that I cannot recommend it enough. We stayed with our friends for a week (11th -18th August). The house has the best views and is only a 15 min walk to the beautiful Husinish beach. I will say the single track road to the house is very long but so worth it when you get there. The house was cosy and homely and we all had a fantastic time.

A cosy haven
The location of Glorig croft house is stunning, set above a beautiful cove and a 10 minute walk to the sandy, secluded Husinish beach. The house was both spacious and cosy, with plenty of room for my husband and our two children along with our friends and their little boy, so everyone had their own space and we weren't on top of one another. The conservatory was very comfortable and served as a second living room with amazing panoramic views. The house was equipped with everything we could possibly need for the week, plus lots of lovely extras such as games, books, wetsuits, beach towels and binoculars. The beds were extremely comfortable with excellent quality bedding and towels provided. Harris itself is so beautiful, and we were lucky enough to get enough sunshine to enjoy the beaches, hill walks etc, but there were a couple of rainy/chilly days which we didn't begrudge, as the house was such a comfortable place to be. The only negative (and I'm not sure it really is one, as it meant that we largely had the beach to ourselves!) is that access to the house is along a very tricky to negotiate one track road which was pretty hairy driving in the wind and rain- although that definitely won't stop us coming back to this idyllic spot.

About the neighborhood
White sandy beaches, spectacular scenery and warm Gaelic communities. Fascinating wildlife and challenging outdoor activities in the backdrop of an unspoilt wilderness. And not forgetting some of the freshest seafood in the world. Explore Harris on foot, by car or by public transport and you’re sure to find exactly what you are looking for. From the Clisham Ridge to the less challenging 25 mile Harris Walkway, Harris offers a variety of walking routes for all levels and the fishing opportunities are endless in the clear coastal waters and lochs. Visitors are welcome at the Harris Golf Club – a nine hole links course with stunning views over the Atlantic and whatever your religious beliefs or denomination, you’ll find a warm welcome at the many Presbyterian churches on the island. There's also a regular bus service between Tarbert and Husinish Beach every day - just ask at the Tourist Information Office in Tarbert for more information. We can’t list all the attractions and activities that our island has to offer but here are a few that we think you should certainly consider ... Sea Harris is a well established local tour company specialising in scheduled and chartered boat trips to the fascinating world heritage site, St Kilda, and other nearby islands. If you have the time, we would highly recommend this chance of a lifetime to see how the St Kildans lived a century ago. The Seallam! Visitor Centre in Northton is an interesting collection of art, music, books and exhibitions and a chance to discover your Highland ancestry. The North Harris Trust is a community organisation and charity that develops and safeguards the rich natural and culture heritage of Harris. Over the past decade they have repaired and extended many of the beautiful hill, beach and mountain paths and you can also join them on various eagle, seal and general wildlife walking tours. One of the most remote and ancient monuments in Europe, the Standing Stones at Calanais in Lewis attract tens of thousands of visitors every year – fascinating, spiritual and awe-inspiring.

This is our road which although is only 13 miles long, it may take you about half an hour to reach your destination due to the tight corners, giving you more time to enjoy the spectacular views! By Sea Caledonian MacBrayne run car and passenger ferries all year round from Ullapool to Stornoway (Lewis), Uig (Skye) to Tarbert (Harris) and from Berneray (North Uist) to Leverburgh (Harris). By Car If you wish to bring you car to the island, it is advisable to book this in advance.
