    At the bottom of the steep cobbled bank in the heart of the quaint fishing village of Staithes you'll find our Grade II listed fisherman's cottage. When I first saw it the word that sprung to mind was 'bijou'. Since we bought Lahney Cottage in February 2016, it has undergone a complete refurbishment, with new furniture, cooker and hob, equipment, new flooring in the bathroom, as well as being redecorated throughout. The kitchen is very well equipped, the lounge has a TV with DVD player, internet radio with Bluetooth speaker and, of course, wi-fi. On the first floor you will find the cosy double bedroom and the bathroom with an electric shower over the bath. The cottage has heaters in the rooms and also a log burner in the lounge. Your dog is welcome for no extra charge, but we do like to know if they will be there, so please let us know when you book. Lahney Cottage provides a fantastic base for exploring Staithes, Whitby and the beautiful North York Moors. More

    Your dogs are most welcome to come with you and unlike a lot of properties we don't charge extra for them, but do please let us know when you book if they wi be joining you. As we have a lot of guests that don't have pets, please do not allow them upstairs or on the furniture. Please make sure you clean up after them.

    This was our 3rd stay at Lahney Cottage and it will not be our last. The cottage is well equipped with comfortable furniture - especially comfy is the bed! It is ideal for a short break for the two of us and our dog. Eva...More

    Perfect pet friendly accomodation

    Little gem

    About the neighborhood
    Historically Staithes (pronounced “Steers” by the locals) was an important fishing community and was the home of Captain James Cook during his apprenticeship before he joined the Navy. Staithes has always been popular with painters and was the base for a group of artists who became known simply as the 'Staithes Group' in the 19th and 20th centuries. Artists continue to live and work in the village and the Staithes Festival of Arts & Heritage, which was launched in September 2012, has now become an annual event. Staithes is of course also home to the children's television series 'Old Jack's Boat', starring Bernard Cribbins and Salty the dog!
