Lyme Regis, Dorset, England
With sweeping views of the Lyme Bay, Springfield is a wonderful seaside house set in Lyme Regis, on the Devon/ Dorset borders. A sprawling house with bags of character, lovingly restored and furnished by a London based interior designer. Six bedrooms for 12 adults to snooze in five star linens with an additional one pair of luxury bunk beds for 2 children. Just under 5,000 sq ft so everyone can spread out. Welcoming to children who will love the big garden, trampoline, snooker room, tv snug and games room - and of course the beaches.

Relax in the spacious lounge, with big French Windows opening onto the garden, cosy in the snug/TV room, cook in its big kitchen then eat together in either the breakfast area or dining room. Afterwards, unwind in the snooker room, ping pong in the games room, chill in the conservatory or fire up a challeng...

Springfield provided our 3 generational party with a fantastic venue for a 40th birthday. From the sumptuous cotton bed linen to the extremely well equipped kitchen, every thing that we could have needed was there. We were a party of 8 adults and 6 children ranging from 8 weeks to 70 years! Our hired Chef commented on the quality of the kitchen equipment. The size and safeness of the house ensured that there was more...

We were a party of friends all gathered to celebrate a 50th Birthday. On arrival at the house we were completely blown away by how amazing this house is and believe me, we're a tough crowd to please! The extremely high standard of decor throughout is wonderful and the views amazing. We ate out at Hix oyster bar and meandered around the pretty streets of Lyme Regis, stumbling across the most fantastic little Pizza restaurant....

Wow, what a perfect weekend. House felt very fresh, clean and well looked after. A real home from home. Springfield is fantastically decorated and in a great location with wonderful facilities and lovely views out over the sea. We were a group of eight adults, six children and a baby but there was more than enough room for everyone. Bedrooms very spacious and the beds exceptionally comfortable with 5 star quality linens and towels. The...

Took the whole family including a couple of under 4s for a ruby wedding and birthday celebration over a long weekend. On arriving the house certainly had the wow factor and the décor is stunning. All six bedrooms are beautifully furnished and the master en-suite is unbelievably huge. There is ample space to get lost and there were 12 of us so we were not in each others pockets. On Saturday we had the Hungry...

Arrive at your stylish retreat via Silver Street and through the walled garden or front door on Woodmead Road or through the garage doors near the car park. The front door leads to a stunning double height entrance hall with classic Georgian curved staircase and large windows. Staying downstairs we look at the living space and going upstairs we explore the bedrooms. Most rooms in the house have sea views – the higher up you are in the house, the better the view.

About the neighborhood
Easily accessible, and only three hours from London and the Midlands, Lyme Regis is away from it all, nestling in the unspoilt West Dorset countryside. Part of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage site, and surrounded by areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Lyme Regis, the “Pearl of Dorset”, is famous for its fossils, its historic old town, its Cobb and its beaches. And now its a destination for food lovers, with Hix Oyster and Fish House in the town, and River Cottage HQ and Axminster Canteen both close by. The old town, dating back to the 14th century, is an ideal place to walk and explore the local shops, art galleries, newly replanted gardens with myriad places to stop to eat and drink.
Getting around
The Cobb attracts visitors – not just for its visual splendour and its magnificent naval architecture, but also for its connections with great literature. Indeed, people come from all over the world to see the steps where Louisa Musgrove fell in Jane Austen’s Persuasion; or to see where Meryl Streep stood, looking forlornly out to sea, in the film adaptation of John Fowles’ The French Lieutenant’s Woman. And art lovers are drawn to Lyme for both its beautiful scenery and for its wide range of art galleries

Holiday makers will enjoy a family-friendly, sandy beach and an often-surprising micro-climate in the shelter of Lyme Bay. Marine Parade is a great place to walk, sit, enjoy the views and visit its small shops and eating places.
