Situated on the quay at Wells-next-the-Sea, with views directly over the harbour and marshes, The Old Whelk House holiday cottage is a traditional 'upside down' seaside cottage.

The living accommodation is upstairs and the bedroom downstairs. The house has one double bedroom with additional day bed that can sleep two younger/smaller adults.

One family bathroom with shower, and an open plan living area upstairs with kitchen, dining, and living areas with seating that converts into a further 2 beds if required.

Sleeps 4 comfortably, could sleep 2 additional children in the double day bed.

Short breaks possible subject to availability - please ask.

Bed linnen/towels etc not provided.

Great location opposite harbour at Wells. Very comfortable easy going accommodation. View from the cottage was stunning. We enjoyed watching the local fishermen landing their catch in the evening. Easy to get around other costal areas in North Norfolk by local bus. Coastal path right...More

About the neighborhood
The name Wells comes from the fact that it used to tap the springs of fresh water held by the underlying chalk on which Wells is built. Wells became known as Wells-next-the-Sea in the 1800s when the increase in travel meant it was needed to distinguish between towns.

The name was chosen as the town's official title by Wells Urban District Council in 1956. Wells' prime location meant that in the late 16th Century, Wells (as it was known) was the major port for the area, with up to 19 ships trading corn. Wells' status as a port carried on well into the early 20th Century, with the distinctive Granary and loading gantry built in 1903.
