It is all I expected, or even more, from a cottage in the UK. We were in luck while we had the perfect weather, and the fields and trees were blooming. I’m in love with that warm May sun while going for a walk or...More

We had a wonderful stay at The Gildhall Cottage in Higham. It was so beautiful and all our needs were completely catered for. The house was clean and the "goodies" welcome pack was very much appreciated. We would not hesitate to return. Loved it.

About the neighborhood
The Dedham Vale a classic lowland landscape, straddling the Stour River, has been the inspiration for England’s world-renowned landscape artists Constable and Gainsborough who lived and painted in the Vale. Little has changed over the centuries and with its charming villages, local attractions and beautiful surrounding countryside, the Dedham Vale remains a calm and timeless retreat only an hour from London.
Getting around
Being in remote countryside there are few public transport services in the immediate area so a car really is needed to get around smoothly. While there are local taxi companies, their service is not a swift or universal as in cities.
