Kirkby Stephen, Eden District, Lake District, Cumbria, England
The Manor House is a charming but imposing 18th Century house in a pleasant village location. It lies in the stunning Eden Valley, which boasts an abundance of rural character. It lies approximately 11 miles west of the Yorkshire Dales and only a short drive of 26 miles from the Lake District. An ideal location If you enjoy long walks in the countryside. Cumbria is of course famous for its beautiful lakes (Wordsworth country) and its undulating lofty fells, hills and mountains and these can be taken full advantage of in this lovely house in this wonderful part of the world. After a long day out the house will welcome you back home with a promise of it's open fires, log burners and oil fired aga in the kitchen.

As well as the beautiful rural surroundings the house lies at the heart of a village location which... This house was very big and there was plenty of room for my family and my brothers family, 12 of us all together. The good points were - lovely big kitchen with a table big enough for us all to eat together. A fabulous Aga that we really enjoyed cooking on. Well equipped kitchen. We had no problems parking our cars along the road and we had 5 cars with us. Lovely garden and plenty...

I needed a place to stay for a group of friends who were travelling from all over the country. My brief was simple, a big house, plenty of bathrooms, near a pub and somewhere with a bit of country class. I ticked every box with The Manor House. Booking was incredibly easy via Holiday Lettings. I received a email from the owner near enough straight away with easy to understand details. Communication was first class...

Had a large group together for an early Thanksgiving feast. Kitchen had almost everything we needed. The group did a lovely walk on the Saturday while we whipped up dinner for 15 on the Aga and separate hob and ovens. Wood fires made the sitting rooms cosy. The house is lovely, the bedrooms really comfortable and nicely decorated. Great stay, had a lovely time. Also for the record we had 7 cars between us and...

I was part of a group of 12 people staying in the Manor House for a week in October this year for a birthday get together. The house is huge, plenty of space, great for fitting so many people in without feeling like we were on top of each other, suitable for all generations as there were rooms with and without TV facilities. All the rooms were well equipped, for example there were a selection...

This is a great place to celebrate a family get together, plenty of room and space to get lost in a house with great charm and character. Positives: * 3 great sized sitting rooms with log burners that give out great heat, one formal and the other two informal * conservatory that was bright and warm and connected to... * warm and welcoming kitchen with a table that coped with 16 of us at one...

About the neighborhood
Cumbria is of course famous for its beautiful lakes (Wordsworth country) and its undulating lofty fells, hills and mountains and these can be taken full advantage of in this lovely house in this wonderful part of the world.

If walking is not necessarily for you, then there are plenty of other activities to enjoy such as visiting the many abbeys, monasteries, churches and of course castles that Cumbria has to offer. Many of them only a short drive away. Closer to home is our local town, Kirkby Stephen where you will find plenty of places to eat lunch or afternoon tea or perhaps enjoy a warming cup of cocoa on those colder days or a pot of tea and a slice of cake. It is quaint and as well as the many choices of cafes and pubs there are also antique shops offering both fine antiques as well...
