Easy car, train or coach access to Seville, Granada, Cordoba, Ronda, and just 40 minutes from Malaga airport (50 minutes from Granada airport). The beautiful Ardales lakes, El Chorro gorge, and Caminitio del Rey are a 40 minute drive. The World Heritage elected Dolmenes tombs are on the edge of the town. Torcal Mountains Natural Park 15 minutes by car. Most sports available, and lovely walks in the surrounding area. Family run, with plenty of local and regional information available, including maps. Nothing sour in this Lemon Tree!
Delightful, comfortable apartment in the old town near the citadel. Best equipped kitchen I've ever had in a rental property. Small patio with space to eat and relax. We were just two so plenty of space for us. The plunge pool was very chilly by the end of September! Parking was tricky on occasions as there's no parking immediately outside and surrounding streets are steep and narrow. Several small 'corner' shops nearby and a large Mercadona in town. Be prepared to walk up and down hill a lot! Plenty to see in and around Antequera if you like churches, architecture, history, stunning scenery and geology. Do visit El Torqual (free) and if you don't mind heights, the El Chorro gorge and Caminata del la Ray - but book ahead it's v popular.

Fuldstændig fantastisk sted
Vi boede i det skønne Lemon Tree i 16 dage og nød hvert sekund i det dejlige hus. Vi boede i Melanie og Ruperts andet hus i byen (Castle View) for 2 år siden, og det var også rigtig dejligt. For det første er Melanie og Rupert meget imødekommende og super søde, og har begge gange sørget for, at der var forsyninger i køleskabet ved ankomst, da vi altid lander sent i Malaga og først er ankommet til huset først på natten. Huset er rent og pænt. Alt er i den skønneste orden, og der mangler ikke noget. Huset er udstyret med alt hvad vi skal bruge på vores ferie. Alt virker. Haven med pool er et helt kapitel for sig selv. Vi elskede at opholde os der. Morgenmaden under citrontræet var den bedste start på dagen. Og den dejlige pool var bare skøn, når varmen overmandede os i løbet af dagen. Melanie og Rupert er gode til at anbefale ture eller gode restauranter og cafeer. Antequera som by er bare hyggelig og rar. Hvis man ønsker en stille, rolig og hyggelig ferie med lokal stemning i en by hvor lokalbefolkningen er vildt imødekommende, og med butikker, cafeer og restauranter der yder en super service, så er det bare stedet. Vi ved bare med sikkerhed at vi skal afsted igen, når der er ro omkring Covid 19. Og det bliver med sikkerhed i Lemon Tree. Den allerbedste anbefaling herfra. I vil ikke blive skuffet. Vi glæder os allerede helt vildt til næste besøg. Vi savner så meget at sidde i den skønne have og nyde et koldt glas hvidvin.

Lovely apartment in a great location
We really enjoyed our stay in the Lemon Tree. Nicely positioned on the edge of this lovely town, 10 minutes walk to the Alcazaba. The apartment is spacious and comfortable with that special Spanish feel to it. The patio with pool and lemon tree is a most pleasant place to relax. The apartment was very clean and had everything we needed. Rupert was very helpful in providing a map and pointing out restaurants, the best supermarket from where we could get a taxi back and an "ambling" route into town. He also booked a taxi for our departure. There are many interesting things to see in the town and area and all the people we came into contact with were very helpful such as the lady in the Tourist Office who booked us a taxi to El Torcal. Over the years we have been fortunate to visit many place in Andalucia and this is one of our favourites. Ten out of ten in our opinion.All our thanks to Rupert and Melanie.

Just lovely
Our first impression on arrival was that the Lemon Tree was spotlessly clean and smelled wonderfully fresh. It is tastefully decorated (a lovely Spanish feel to it) and has all the amenities you could want for a self catering holiday. The kitchen is well equipped and we put it to good use during our stay. We enjoyed the plunge pool, it is great for cooling you down when it gets too hot and scooping out any wee flies/ants that had ended up on the surface overnight became part of our daily routine and was not a problem at all. As others have mentioned, Antequera is hilly (very hilly). We didn't have a car, so we walked to the Mercadona supermarket, which took us around 15 minutes. It would have been too difficult a walk back loaded with shopping but there is a taxi rank right outside the supermarket and we got a taxi back at a cost of 5 euros - well worth it. There is also a little corner shop close by, which was handy to pop to when we needed to top up on supplies. Although we don't speak Spanish, we got by and everyone we encountered was pleasant and friendly. Rupert and Melanie were informative, helpful hosts and organised taxi transfers from and to the airport for us, which we appreciated. If you decide to book the Lemon Tree, you won't be disappointed. It is a lovely property to relax in, which is clearly well maintained. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Sehr schöne Unterkunft
Das Apartment war sehr schön, blitzsauber und sehr gut ausgestattet. Antequera ist ein guter Ausgangspunkt für Tagestrips aber auch selbst ein lohnendes Ziel. Vielen Dank an Melanie und Rupert für die vielen Infos!

Lovely spacious apartment in a good location
We stayed at Lemon Tree for about 9 days in November. Unfortunately we didn’t have the best of weather as it was cool with quite a lot of rain but it was very good to have such a comfortable base given the poor weather. Rupert and Mel were very friendly and helpful but never intrusive. The apartment was well equipped with everything you could possibly need and the heaters made it warm and cosy. Antequera is an interesting town and it makes a good base for visiting Cordoba and Ronda. Definitely recommended.

Eine wunderbare Wohnung
Die Unterkunft "Lemon Tree" kann ich wärmstens empfehlen. Sie befindet sich nahe des Zentrums von Antequera, das zu Fuß gut erreichbar ist; trotzdem ist die Wohnung absolut ruhig. Parkplätze sind in unmittelbarer Nähe stets ausreichend vorhanden. Die Besitzer haben das Appartement wunderschön, mit viel Geschmack und stilgerecht eingerichtet. Ein absolutes Highlight ist die wunderschöne Terrasse, die von niemandem einsehbar ist. Unter dem Zitronenbaum kann man wunderbar entspannen oder sich im Tauchbecken abkühlen. Die Wohnung ist mit allen Annehmlichkeiten ausgestattet. Die Besitzer sind äußerst herzlich und sehr um ihre Gäste bemüht. - Nochmals ganz herzlichen Dank für die Gastfreundschaft und den tollen Aufenthalt!!

Beautiful!!!
Just returned from a lovely stay at the lemon tree. The house is spacious and spotlessly clean, gorgeous big farmhouse kitchen, with every amenity you will need. Air con in bedrooms and lounge area which was greatly appreciated and 2 ceiling fans in the kitchen which worked well. Beautiful and private courtyard, with sun loungers, tables and chairs for outside dining. Full sunshine all day around the pool which was lovely but also shaded areas if needed. The plunge pool was lovely and very much needed in the summer months. I did note from a previous review that they didn’t use the pool due to insects, this was certainly no issue to us. We used the net when needed to clean leaves and insects which is to be expected with an outside pool. We hired a car for the full duration to enable us to explore the surrounding areas. Rupert & Melanie (owners) are very much knowledgeable of the local area and happy to share their knowledge to enable us to have some fantastic days out. Never had any issues with parking, plenty of spaces close to the apartment. There are lots of restaurants nearby and within walking distance, people with mobility issues may struggle due to the hilly surroundings. Taxis are available to and from town which cost approximately €5 if needed. It was our first visit but hopefully not our last. Thank you Rupert & Melanie for allowing us to stay at the lemon tree. Lovely house
The house and garden are well equipped but we found it difficult to find by car and parking can be difficult. It is in a residential area and unfortunately very noisy with dogs barking throughout the night. The pool looked nice but we didn't want to use it because it was always full of insects evenn though we tried to clear them with the pool net. There are lovely views when you walk into town but as Antequera is a hilly place, it isn't an easy walk. However we got used to it as that was where most of the restaurants were.

The hidden jewel of Andalusia
Lemon Tree is a truly authentic Spanish apartment in the unspoilt city of Antequera. It is situated in the centre of Andalusia which makes it the perfect base to also explore Seville, Cordoba, Granada and Malaga. Antequera itself is steeped in history, not least because of its occupation by the Romans and later the Moors which has left it with rich architecture and unique flavour. Antequera is a fairly affluent city, unspoilt by mass tourism. It is spotlessly clean with very helpful and friendly residents. Be prepared, though, that English is not widely spoken and whilst a lot of fun can be had making each other understood, a basic knowledge of Spanish would be helpful. Good quality restaurants and bars are plentiful, but these offer very traditional food. Antequera is not for you if you are seeking a typically English diet. Lemon Tree is situated on the hill side on the edge of the old part of this small Spanish city, but don't be fooled by reference to 'city'. You can walk from one side to the other in ½ hour. It is a very well appointed ground floor appointment with its own enclosed courtyard in a very quiet residential area. It is furnished and equipped to a very high standard for both summer and winter occupation and it offers very relaxing and private surroundings. It offers peace and tranquillity for those who just want to relax with a book by the pool and enjoy alfresco dining, or comfortable surroundings as a base from which to explore further afield. The owner's, Rupert and Melanie, who live in the apartment above, couldn't be more welcoming and are always there to help if needed but are never intrusive. We celebrated our Ruby Wedding Anniversary whilst there and Rupert was more than happy to recommend the best restaurants in the area to celebrate. Lemon Tree is, perhaps, not best suited to you if you have mobility issues because of some of the steep inclines. We cannot recommend Lemon Tree too highly (and yes there really is a lemon tree in the courtyard). It offered us everything we wanted from our holiday and more and we can't wait to go back.
