Rio Rancho Verde offers an upscale Southwestern/Western ranch experience in the heart of the Sonoran Desert. This secluded site is surrounded by the most amazing Arizona scenery, far from the maddening crowds! Our beautiful 62 acre ranch is located on the Tonto National Forest, just 20 minutes from Scottsdale and a short walk to the Scottsdale Sonoran Preserve, featuring 215 miles of marked trails and 32,000 acres. We offer a stylishly decorated upscale private 2 bedroom suite (attached to the house but with separate entrance) with it's own bathroom, overlooking the pool, outdoor kitchen, bar and BBQ area. One bedroom has a queen bed, the other has two twin beds. Cost for the entire 2 bedroom suite is $149 per night, for two people,. If you add a third or fourth person, it's an additional $89 per night (not per person, so $238 total for the entire suite for more than 3 - 4 people). Continental breakfast is available upon request, (at an additional cost) and served poolside. Sip your coffee down in the barn while the horses await their breakfast or savor a glass of wine on the deck by the pool next to the fireplace as the sun sets slowly over the mountains. We have miles of trails right out our back gate, both to the Tonto National Forest and the Preserve - perfect for hiking, mountain biking or trail riding (horses available for rent 2 miles down the road). Rio Rancho Verde gives guests a relaxing alternative to the fast paced city life, yet is close enough to town to enjoy gourmet dining, first class shopping and a multitude of events and activities. We also board horses and have a separate area for those who wish to rent stalls and experience riding in the foothills and mountains of Arizona. This equine Ecoranch is committed to supporting a sustainable environment through the use of reduce, reuse, recycle and repurpose practices. From the organic garden (help yourself to our veggies) to the recycled metal artwork scattered throughout the Ranch, to the rainwater recapture and solar lighting, we're all about being green and respecting the natural desert landscape in which we live. Reset, recharge, relax and rejuvenate - we truly live in paradise and have the best of both worlds - city access and rural relaxation. We hope you'll enjoy this special spot as much as we do! Pets are welcome (sorry, no cats), check with host in advance. Pet fee applied. We have other listings if this one is not available - 4886885 - Western bunkhouse and 6796751, luxury travel trailer. “If you’re lucky enough to find this shining star available, don’t hesitate to book. I read other reviews regarding the location being a bit far from civilization, and when you’re there it definitely feels that way, but it really isn’t that inconvenient to take a ride for a bit of shopping into the City of Scottsdale (Kierland Commons) or Phoenix (High Street) and to enjoy an over abundance of delightful culinary experiences. Disclaimer though; you will miss being at the ranch when you are away. Carmela, Joe and Gracie are such kind, caring and hard working hosts and go out of their way to ensure you have everything you need. We will definitely return but for a longer stay next time. Thanks again Carmela and Joe for an experience we will treasure and certainly never forget. Jill & Keely”

We have traveled extensively in the US and this was by far one of our top stays. My husband, who rarely comments, kept saying that this was a 5 star stay! The property exceeded every expectation and views were unmatched. I couldn’t wait to get up in the mornings just to view the gorgeous sunrises. The hosts welcomed you and immediately treated you like family. You have as much privacy or interaction as you choose. The area is beyond words. If you like to hike, golf, bike, or ride horses, this is the place to be. Plus, you are just a few minutes from town and great eating. Sedona is just a few hours away as well. I can’t say enough about our stay at Rio Rancho Verde... except we can’t wait to go back!

The moment you hit that dirt road to the ranch you feel the heaviness of the world fade away...you never need to leave the property, we cooked outdoors and enjoyed all the ranch had to offer. Carmilla is just beyond welcoming , wonderful host without being invasive. Really...EVERYTHING you need to relax, rejuvenate and recharge for this hectic world! We WILL be back!!

This is such an amazing gem in the middle of the desert. You’re surrounded by beauty, wildlife, and amazing mountain views. We enjoyed eating breakfast by the pool and taking a hike around the grounds and seeing the horses. It was the perfect weekend getaway. The casita was clean and comfortable. Looking forward to visiting again!

I cant say enough nice things about our experience staying at Rio Rancho Verde! The grounds were beautiful, and perfectly manicured. Our horses stayed in safe, clean corrals. We were greeted by the owner on our arrival who made us feel very welcome. Hands down, some of the best horseback riding trails!!! Our casita was perfect! The bed was so comfortable, and kitchen was well stocked with everything you need on a vacation. We cant wait to book another vacation here!

I don’t know how to explain the level of detail that went into crafting this experience but upon checking in you will inevitably feel that you were an active participant in nature and that your needs were met luxuriously during your stay. Usually the two are mutually exclusive, but the stay at Carmela’s proves that the marriage of the two can be a reality. From the exterior of the property, to the interior of the property you will feel the amount of care and passion that went into the space. From the blending of the perfectly imperfect exterior architecture to match the diversity of the mountains that backdrop the property, to the elements of sustainability that are seamlessly integrated into the property, to the interior color palette and interior design accoutrements, you will feel a sense of welcoming warmth. Water is life. The well water is pure and equally refreshing. The pristine, drinkable water will also serve as your shower water. Enjoy. Other notable highlights: sunrises/sunsets, incredible tile shower, outdoor pool, plenty of seating, hummingbirds, horses, outdoor kitchen (if you want to cook), great nearby restaurant options (if you don’t want to cook) and plenty of trails to satisfy your exploratory curiosities. Saving the best for last: Carmela and Joe are both warm, genuinely friendly, knowledgeable and simply put, the perfect hosts. If you’re currently on the fence with booking your stay, jump off immediately and book it now. Your experience will be well worth it (priceless) and you just might find that you will leave with a life realization or two (I did — as did my girlfriend). Just book it. Book it now.

What a great visit we had at your place. Thanks to both you and Joe for making us feel like we were at home. The property is beautiful and we appreciate all your suggestions as we were in a new area of the Valley for us. We hope to see you next year. PS. Dot said Gracie was 5 Star as well!

Amazing place to stay and experience Arizona nature. Beautiful location and property. So much to do and explore without leaving the backyard! The drive into town is a bit long but totally worth it for the views and experience! Would recommend to anyone looking to have a relaxing vacation or a great place to unwind and cool off at the end of a day of exploring! Loved our stay. Great accommodations. Great hosts. Great place!!!

I went here for my birthday, and the pictures don’t do the view justice. I had the absolute best birthday and Carmela gave me pound cake with a card. She’s such a sweet person and her horses were so sweet too. Thank you Carmela!

About the neighborhood
We have very few neighbors and border the Tonto National Forest, with 360 degree spectacular views There's plenty of wide open spaces, which we share with an occasional coyote or two. The last two miles to the ranch are a dirt road but it's well maintained and we're easy to find.
