You can halibut fish in Homer, Ninilichik, Seward or toss your hook in the Cook Inlet five minutes from 'A Hiada-way'. Cook Inlet is also popular for beach walking, picnics, campfires and sun bathing. You often see children splashing in the sea water.
The subdivision has a walkable road where you frequently find the locals on foot or on a horse or bicycle. Several hiking trails are nearby in Soldotna and Cooper Landing.

Great getaway and views of the river
Carole has a great little place with pick a boo views of the river. Carole put out extra seats to lounge near her deck/river to watch the fisherman and drink our wine. We had an enjoyable time talking with Carole and her friend. Carole also got the BBQ out for my husband to grill our steaks. The apartment has the comforts of home with all the kitchen items needed to the bathroom linens. We didn't watch tv and/or sit on the deck of the apartment. The bed was perfect for my husband, but too hard for myself.

Tammy...it was great visiting with you and your husband Robert. I am so glad you enjoyed your stay at 'A Hiada-way'. Gosh Tammy, sorry about the bed, I have the same one in my house and sometimes I think it is too hard. Thank you for your comment...I will get it replaced for a softer bed. Hope to see you again in Alaska. Carole and My Pup Domi

Awesome Experience
We stayed at this rental for a few months while my husband was working in Soldotna. Before we even arrived, Carol the owner was so helpful and accomodating. She had great information on fishing, clamming, shopping and eating out.
This rental was perfect for the two of us and the location was great since we were able to enjoy Soldotna, Homer and Kenai. Since her place is right on the Kasilof River we were able to watch the break up going down the river, fish jumping and fishermen catching salmon right off the deck.
We had the opportunity to see moose and baby moose right off the upstairs deck. AMAZING!
The apartment is furnished with everything you need and nicely decorated but if there is something you need Carol will get it for you or direct you where to get it. The bed was very comfortable and the apartment is clean and up to date.
The parking at the property was big and easy to move our 2 trucks around in.
The property also has amazing views of the Mountains and plenty of bird watching also.
It was an experience we will never forget. And we plan on going back this next year. Carol, the owner, always checked to make sure we were happy and that we had everything we needed.

Amazing property on the Kasilof river !
There are places that you would like to return to year after year. This is one of these places.
Carole has a first class property right on the Kasilof river. I used the apartment as my home base since it is so close and centrally located to all the places that I love to spend time at. Homer, Kenai, Clam Gulch and many more. We felt that when we came back from a long day of fishing , clam digging, or sightseeing that we were coming home. I can still remember the taste of the fresh salmon , halibut or other foods that we cooked on the huge deck at the apartment after a successful day of fishing. And some days just staying in relaxing and unplugging with a good book or watching the boats catching salmon as they drift by. I wish that I can make a return trip to the Hiada-way on the river very soon. Carole thank you for all the cherished memories and making your property feel like "home". That is something that hotels just don't do.

A very peaceful and friendly place.
This is a wonderful place to relax and rest after a busy day of recreating in Alaska. Situated high on the bank of the Kasilof River with a great view of the river and a snowcapped volcano in the distance. Quiet, peaceful and very clean with an owner who is an exceptional host.

A Hiada Way goes above and beyond to make your stay in Kasilof/Soldonta Excellent!
If you are looking for a beautiful place to lay your head down at night, along with an owner that actually makes you feel welcome, this is the place to be! Carole is probably the nicest person I have ever had an opportunity to work with. Booking trips to Alaska can be difficult but Carole definitely makes everything run smoother. The rental is a beautiful, private area. The perfect getaway!
I found Carole's website and booked the trip. I'm so happy she decided to post it on Flipkey! Now everyone can be sure to see the beautiful rental she has available!

This home is simply Alaska, in all her beauty............
If you want to experience Alaska, and make sure it feels like somehow you have come home, this is the place to stay. My trip to Alaska was a few years ago but this listing didn't go online until June 2015 and I wanted to make sure that I could write a review.
From the moment we drove down the driveway to "A Hiada-way" it was one of the most memorable's trips I have ever had. The beauty from the deck of the Kasilof river is outstanding, Perhaps, mesmerizing is more the word. From the bald eagles flying over head, to the moose and her babies that wander down the driveway I truly felt like I was home. The welcoming kindness of the owners that have your apartment prepared and decorated in utmost Alaska heritage simply cannot be matched. The cleanliness of this apartment cannot be equaled and every single amenity you would possibly need, is provided. The owner is knowledgeable in places you are interested in visiting, advises you what is nearby and is willing to give you ideas of places to visit that might be off the beaten path, just a bit.
You are close to halibut fishing or salmon fishing or clamming or what ever you would want to do. There are long conversations with the owner on their deck at the days end, watching the slow motion of the Kasilof river going by. Though the day might actually be 1:00 am but feels like 9:00 pm because it is still light out...
It was simply the best vacation ever. And when we flew back again.... of course there was no other place to stay in Alaska other than "A Hiada-way"
Beautiful Alaska, beautiful home, beautiful people.

First trip to Alaska. Beautiful setting with gorgeous sunsets and mountain views. Watched fisherman trolling for salmon from the high river bank. Clean, comfortable accommodations - good location. Everything you need. Carol is a terrific hostess. Ask her for a taste of her smoked salmon.
