Had the privilege of staying at Casitas Las Flores the first week of July. It was exactly what I was hoping for. Antonella and Giorgio were gracious hosts from the time I contacted them regarding possible interest to the time I left for San Jose on the shuttle they booked for me. The casita was open air, closed to the beach and nestled in nature. Puerto Vallejo also was lovely. Beaches North and South are fantastic and music everywhere. I Look forward to my next visit!

Perfecto y magico
Totalmente recomendable

Great Beach House!
Loved the stay here and enjoyed the private little beach bungalow vibe of the space. Will say though that we were a bit taken aback by the mosquitos and smells of the bathrooms - given how exposed it is to the outdoors, there are some insanely big mosquitos flying around - hence the protective mosquito netting around the bed. Also, the bathroom has a perpetual smell of damp wood / mold. Not sure what can be done there or if it's just a function of the surroundings, but it created a feeling of uncleanliness that you just can't wash off. Also, bring your toiletries as this place will not have any on-shelf.
Last but not least, don't stay here if you're easily awakened at night by noises. Howler monkeys, birds, etc will be on a constant parade around the place so you're not lacking in nature noises at all.

Hello Julia and Dina and thank you for your review. We enjoyed having you both here for 3 nights! Yes, being ''nestled in the jungle'', we do have mosquitoes and monkeys and birds that do make noise but we also love sharing our quieter friends like geckos, sloths and butterflies with our guests as well. The woodsy odor in your bathroom is the result of the high humidity factor and, unfortunately, is out of our control. It is certainly not a reflection of the cleanliness factor, just a fact of being in paradise! Toiletries were provided upon arrival and are always replenished as required and our apologies if you feel you were lacking in anything over the 3 days. Again ladies, thank you for your visit and your review and we look forward to hosting you again in the future!

Peaceful Retreat
Wonderful accommodation, run by a welcoming, helpful yet unobtrusive couple, who will also prepare you an amazing breakfast. Conveniently close to town but far enough away to escape the hustle and bustle of downtown Puerto Viejo.
An ideal home yards from the beach, boardering on the jungle.

Best stay in Costa Rica!
This is a set of four small Casitas located just about a mile from Puerto Viejo, very quiet area, set back in the forest. It is just the most charming place! The managers of the Casitas are a young Canadian couple who are always available, and helpful. Our Casita had a good sized bedroom, a large bathroom with walk in shower ( with hot water!), a kind of outdoor kitchen, with fridge, microwave, stove, etc., and a little porch with a table and chairs, two sling chairs, and a hammock! The grounds are beautifully landscaped. What a wonderful little piece of paradise. Be advised though that there is no air conditioning, but there is mosquito netting over the bed, and a good fan. You can borrow their bicycles to ride to the beach or town. Great beaches within walking or driving distance. GREAT restaurants in town. Couldn't get much better!

The best place we've ever stayed!
We stayed at Casitas las Flores for 9 nights and it was such a memorable time. The casitas are adorable and had pretty much everything we needed. Shevonne, Joe and Vittorio; our hosts were so warm and welcoming and helped us with anything we needed. Our casita was really clean and it was awesome to have a nice hot shower in the morning and after a swim. Casitas las Flores is located really close to Playa Negra and is nestled in the jungle so you enjoy some seclusion and the sounds of the jungle. We highly recommend this as your home base for your stay in Puerto Viejo.

We find this blog describes it best: 'Puerto Viejo is an awesome, laidback, Caribbean, Euro-backpacker, Rasta-surfer town on the south Caribbean coast of Costa Rica. This tiny little town offers up an amazing variety of international culinary flavors as well as a wide variety of experiences to choose from. You can surf the world famous Salsa Brava, relax in the natural rock tide pools at the edge of the ocean, party the night away downtown, or unwind in a secluded jungle bungalow!'
Getting around
We have bicycles for rent on the property and there is also a semi-reliable public transit system. There are also 2 car rental locations in town.

How to get there
About 1 km before arriving to the center of Puerto Viejo, 'highway' 256 will bend to the right. You will see 'The Point' sports bar and grill on the left hand side as you take the bend. The road to get to us is located just two hundred meters past 'The Point' on the right hand side. You will see the sign for Casa Amma (a yoga retreat place) at the entrance of our road. Once on the road follow it for 300 meters as it first veers left and then shortly after veers right and finally turning left onto our road. Please print the map below for a visual of the directions!
