Great house...bad property management company "RPM"
This was a second trip to the same vacation home so you know we loved the home. Just don't complain to RPM if anything goes wrong, like the AC going out or the gate not working. A lot of grief and no privacy.

Hello there - sorry for the late response to this review. We at RPM work very hard to keep our clients happen, but yes...if clients tell us there are issues, we do have to come to the house to fix them. Obviously, it's impossible to do repairs and have a lot of privacy, but we work hard to make sure to do things as quickly as possible. We're sorry you did not experience that this time.

Better than imagined!
You know that scene in "Titanic" when Leonardo Dicaprio yells "I'm the king of the world!"? That's the feeling Casa Pipilacha generates. When you're in the pool, looking out over Tamarindo and the Pacific Ocean, it's as if you're on top of the world. From now on whenever we are having an I'm-the-king-of-the-world feeling we're going to refer to it as a Casa Pipilacha experience. We will never again look at a dragonfly (pipilacha) without smiling.
Here are some tips/additional comments:
1. The home is close to town but you'll probably want to rent a vehicle while in Tamarindo. Walking down the hill from the house to the town isn't so bad, but climbing back up is rough, especially with the heat.
2. Make sure that vehicle has 4-wheel drive. No way we would have made it up that steep incline without it.
3. Great restaurants everywhere in Tamarindo -- we never had a bad meal. Fruits are especially terrific.
4. House has a security gate and security system. We always felt safe while there.
5. We discovered one minor pool issue shortly after arrival. Within an hour after calling the management company it was addressed and we had no reason to call again for any reason the rest of our stay.
6. Fabulous croissants at bakery at Laguna del Cocodrilo, right across the street from the entrance to the drive up to Casa Pipilacha.
7. The day you leave, be prepared to be really sad but also really grateful to have had the opportunity to stay in such a beautiful home.

Estuve en casa PIPILACHA 10 días, Tiene una vista maravillosa de día y noche.
Todo,todo es lindo, desde su piscina desde la cual podes ver el mar aunque estés en la colchoneta,su cocina,los dormitorios,el living.Los techos son maravillosos,todos hechos en piedritas. Es tan,tan linda que no dan ganas de irse.SIMPLEMENTE MARAVILLOSA.

Casa Pipilacha...a dream resort home indeed
Beautiful home, very comfortable and has all the amenities you could ask for.
Our only problem was that the cleaning staff come every morning and then so does the landscape crew. We rented off the beaten path for supreme privacy. We did not get that. The staff was polite but could not understand that we wanted more privacy.
Again, a very beautiful home indeed...

You'll never want to stay anywhere else...
One of the earlier reviews stated 'the house is so great you end up not going to the beach' and it's almost true. I spent many an evening pondering between going surfing or just staying put to watch the amazing sunset. You won't find a better view in all of Tamarindo!
After your wild and crazy drive up the mountain (you'll get used to this drive ... just use caution in the rain), you will be rewarded when the gates to the property open and Casa Pipilacha awaits you. The house is absolutely amazing- the architecture, the accents, the small details, you name it. You can tell the owners take pride in ensuring guests want for nothing. There are even free weights, a surfboard, and tubes for the pool.
As usual, the RPM rental agents as well as the rest of the housekeeping/grounds/maintenance staff are accessible, attentive, and ready to help with any questions.
You really will never want to stay anywhere else!

It is a romantic, posh, beautiful and functional luxury home
We absolutely loved the home and all the included amenities including the kitchen with all the extras, the infinity pool was absolutely perfect for all the sunsets and the gardens made for many peaceful retreat options. I especially loved the outdoor fan mounted to the tree and the sound of the fountains. The RPM staff were exceptionally helpful in referring us to other parts of Costa Rica coordinating a wonderful rustic retreat near a volcano. They also demonstrated competent and comprehensive knowledge of options for deep sea fishing, ziplining, surfing, hiking and visiting all the many types of beaches so close to Tamarindo.

Beautiful
I don't normally write reviews (this is my 1st), but after staying at Casa Pipilaha I feel I must.
The villa was as nice of place as anywhere I've ever stayed. The house was wonderfully done, clean, maintained and decorated to perfection.The view was great as was the gardens which surrounded the house.
It was located a short drive down a hill to Tamarindo beach and the some very nice restaurants.
I did a lot of research and came upon this villa. What I saw was nice but when we got there it was much better.
This was the first vacation I heard my wife say she would like to have stayed longer.
Great house. We loved it!

A Real Gem
This house is beautiful and has none of the faux-Costa-Rican kitsch of some of the other houses I've stayed in or looked at. Clean, elegant and beautifully appointed. The stone and tile work on the floors, walls and ceilings are works of art! The terrace and edge pool are spectacular, as is the view. The house just up the hill is quite close and there was a noisy family there on one of the days of our two-week stay, but otherwise it was perfectly serene. We've met the owner who takes great interest in keeping the house maintaining the house. He totally remodeled it in 2010 (we were the first tenants after the remodeling) and they did a superb job. RPM was always very responsive to any issues that came up (as they will, invariably, in Costa Rica). We've rented this house two years in a row and will certainly be back again. The road up the hill to the house is only partially paved. Having a good 4WD rental car is always a good idea (we rented a Daihatsu Bego from Budget near the Liberia airport).

Two minutes from the downtown strip, a beautiful home.
Casa Pipilacha was a beautiful home and we are all glad we choose this home.
The drive up is in traditional Costa Rica style with dirt roads and a slight hill to climb. The road is easily passed and extremely short, however a small 4x4 might be needed to get into the driveway. The entrance is amazing and very inviting. One step inside and you can tell this is a well built and well styled home. Beautiful finishes in the kitchen, as well as two great bedrooms both with en suite bathrooms with large private showers. Walking out onto the patio you are engulfed in the view. A wonderful 180 degree view of coastline and the downtown strip. A couple steps down and you're entering the pool, overlooking miles of ocean. Or choose sun or shade in multible different sun bathing or shaded gathering areas. When you combine a beautiful view, large swimming pool, high quality furniture inside and out, and A/C and ocean views from every room you get Casa Pipilacha.
You will be happy you choose Pipilacha and you'll be ready to go back as soon as you leave.
