Too many problems with our rental. Here is a list to name a few:
I booked this rental car from Expedia and purchased the CDW through Expedia. The first problem was that when I picked up the car, I was told that I had to purchase SLI also and that it was mandatory in Costa Rica. Not a problem, except that I should have been told this when I reserved the car.
The second problem was that they tried to push me into a car that I did not reserve, which was not large enough for what I needed. After 30 minutes of insisting on the right car, they finally brought around the right car.
The third problem is that the car obviously has not been maintained very well at all. The car had only 45000 km on the car, but it drove live a car with 300000 km. Any time I went over 65 kph, the car shook all over the place.
The fourth problem was that the car smelled like dirty feet. We had to purchase an air freshener and lysol to get the smell somewhat bearable.
The fifth problem was that a tire blew out during our rental. When looking at the tire, I realized that the tire was completely bald and had the steel belts showing in multiple places. I changed the tire, and immediately returned the car, deciding that I did not need it anymore.
Finally, when returning the car, they tried to charge me for the blown tire. This tire had "zero" tread on the tire, why should I pay for that tire. They tried to explain that if I had the tire repaired, they would not have to charge me. Again, this tire was so old, it couldn't be repaired if I wanted to. Then they tried to explain that it was to recycle the tire. Again, this tire was so old, why should I have to pay for this, when it is their tire that they had used for the last 45000 km. Finally after demanding to talk to the corporate office for Fox, they backed down and agreed that they would not charge me.
