Here is something a bit different in South Goa. Our first floor apartment is in a private house in a quiet residential area of Benaulim overlooking a superb view of paddy fields and palm plantations. It is ideal for those who do not want the usual busy holiday complex with pool and so it is perhaps more suited to the maturer visitor... but of course families with children are more than welcome. It is 5 minutes by tuk-tuk (10 minutes by bicycle) from the fabulous Benaulim beach which is itself in the centre of the 13 mile long Queen of Beaches. There are many excellent beach restaurants at Benaulim beach with every kind of food available at extremely good prices. There are many excellent beach restaurants at Benaulim beach with every kind of food available at extremely good prices. In Benaulim itself there are also a number of excellent well-priced restaurants. The apartment is beautifully furnished with fans in every room and A/C and European style sprung mattresses in both bedrooms. The main bedroom has a King size double bed and the second bedroom has two single beds. There is also a camp bed available with bedding for a possible fifth visitor. We use this spacious apartment ourselves as a home from home for 2 months of the year and so all mod cons are there. Included in these are a washing machine, drying rack, all towels and linen, hob, microwave, large fridge/freezer, Sky TV, DVD player, large free-standing fan, iron and ironing board etc. One of the most attractive features of the property is the full property length balcony accessed either from the main bedroom, the kitchen or the living room via big French windows. The second bedroom has its own private balcony and there is also a front terrace. From the main balcony there is a superb peaceful 180 degree view from which one can watch the amazing birdlife, water buffalo etc. On the very sunny roof terrace we have two quality cushioned sunbeds and umbrellas. Also included in the overall price is collection from the airport, use of an Indian pay-as-you-go mobile phone (with far cheaper calls overseas than your own mobile) and a welcome pack of basic food, water and beer in the fridge to get you started. There are two bicycles downstairs should you feel so inspired, as the roads in the area are flat. The property's owner, a lovely lady, lives on the ground floor and is available to assist at any time if necessary. For a two week stay or more, the apartment would be cleaned and mopped through on a weekly basis. This is included in the cost. If you are not familiar with Goa, Benaulim is situated centrally in what we feel is the best (for many reasons) part of South Goa which is itself far nicer than the North which is very much more commercialised and more expensive for everything... so if you do fancy Goa then you genuinely could not do much better. It is about 30 minutes from the airport. PLEASE NOTE: COLLECTION FROM THE AIRPORT IS AVAILABLE FREE OF CHARGE IF WANTED. Margao, the main city of South Goa, is 15 minutes away by tuk-tuk if you need something that is not available locally and/or want to experience the delightful chaos of an Indian city! It is well worth a visit. From the UK, Goa itself can be accessed by daily scheduled flights from Heathrow via Mumbai. This is the cheapest way. Direct charter flights into Goa are also possible between the beginning of November to mid April from Manchester and Gatwick. Please note that for charter flights you had best get seats booked early as there are only a limited number of flights per week and they tend to get booked up fairly quickly with regular ‘Goa Goers’. So if you fancy an apartment in South Goa different from those usually being offered you will not go wrong with ours.

Lovely apartment, lovely views
This was such a find after searching for umpteen hours on the internet! It was exactly as described by Nigel and the information provided by Nigel and Teresa was super and invaluable. Sandra and William were there to welcome us on arrival and they are the hosts who live on the ground floor. They are lovely people and will give local advice if needed which we did! Ask about the Bread Boy on a bicycle first thing in the morning. Only Sandra seemed to be able to catch him! The apartment is on the first floor of a house so there are some stairs and from the moment we entered, we felt comfortable and noted how secure it all was. As we were two sisters travelling around, the welcome and thoughtful care pack was a godsend, as was the friendly driver, Franco. We were picked up from the airport by Franco (+91 9881842863) as part of the rental and we were so grateful as it was one less thing to arrange. Franco proved very useful for all sorts of local knowledge as well such as finding good eating crabs... The bedrooms are spacious and the balconies around the apartment are also a really good size with a table for six to sit out which we used for breakfast. It is such a tranquil spot and was a delight to just watch the water buffalo and the fields and chill. The kitchen is fine for casual eating as it really isn't worth trying to cook and if you stay in for the evening then Sandra & William downstairs can help you order a delivery of freshly cooked Goan cuisine. To get to the beach on foot is viable but I am not that mobile and the walk was too long for me and a little too hot! It's only 5 minutes by rickshaw so that is what we used instead. You cannot fault Benaulim Beach; so long and beautiful. There are lifeguards on the beach intermittently and they are quite vigilant as they called us back to the shore, nicely, telling us that we should only swim where they were, near a red flag. Being that we were out of high season I was really impressed to see that there were still lifeguards. We went to Palolem and the lifeguards were present there too. If you want a quiet and tranquil setting and lots of space, then try this apartment. Being slightly out of season is a great time to go if only that there are fewer tourists and even though not all shops are open, all the necessary ones are, plus a few beach shacks such as Johncy and Blue Corner. There are other places to stay but very few are so spacious and private in a such a lovely setting.

Wonderful chilled holiday
Stayed in a beautiful apartment. The lovely Indian lady Sandra who owns it lives downstairs in another apartment. We are lucky enough to have holidayed in India and Goa many times so know our way around but we learned lots from Sandra which made our hols even better- nothing was too much trouble. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be back.

November in GOA
This is the third time we have stayed at this apartment and the experience is one of absolute relaxation and comfort. The apartment is really top drawer with all the facilities of home available. It is very spacious, comfortable and is equipped with air conditioning. The apartment is the complete upper floor of a large house that is established within its own walled gardens. There is a further sun terrace on the roof area, which all together provides substantial, peaceful holiday accommodation that boasts wonderful views across the wetlands where an abundance of wildlife can be watched in the early evening light as you relax with a nice cold drink at the end of your day. The short trip to the beach is easily completed either on foot, or with the services of Franco the taxi driver, who will be at your service with a phone call or by arranging with him your pick up times. He is very reliable and very friendly, a define asset as he will assist in arranging for day trips out to the Spice farm, Panjim city, the Dudhsagar falls, night markets and fishing boat trips as required. He will also take you to other areas of Goa such as the north beaches of Candolim etc. You can negotiate the price for these excursions and we can attest they are not expensive at all. Booking the apartment is very easy done and there are no surprises or problems to be found. Franco is at hand waiting for you at the airport to take you to the apartment and this makes the hustle and bustle of the airport arrivals area vey easy to cope with. We are looking forward to visiting again soon and would have no hesitation at recommending this apartment in Benaulim, as a very special holiday destination in Goa.

Lovely apartment with free airport transport
I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to friends and family. The apartment is clean and tidy and includes many extras and personal touches such as essentials (including beer!) in the fridge on arrival. The free pick-up from the airport is a massive bonus and makes the transition much easier as the airport is very crowded and can be confusing, with lots of people offering to carry your luggage for you and then wanting a fiver for the privilege – even though it is only a few meters to the carpark. Our driver met us at arrivals and led us easily thought this crowd to the waiting car. The apartment has 2 bedrooms with air conditioning (1 double and 1 twin), 2 bathrooms, 2 balconies and a sunny roof terrace. There is a washing machine and the kitchen has full mod-cons, the TV has sky and there are many DVD’s to watch and books to read. The apartment is managed by a lovely lady called Sandra who lives downstairs and is happy to assist with anything you might need. It is in a quiet residential street - away from other tourists, with beautiful countryside views yet only 5mins by tut-tut from Benaulim town centre and the beach! You could easily walk it or use the 2 bicycles provided, but as the tut-tut was so cheap and the driver, Franko, so friendly we arranged all of our trips through him on the local mobile phone provided with the apartment. Goa is an amazing holiday destination and the beach at Benaulim is just gorgeous and I spent most of my time there – my favourite beach shacks were Blue Corner with the entertaining Del-Boy with his cockney accent, and The Mahal which had better prices and just as friendly service – but without the cockney accent! I would recommend the early morning (8.30ish) dolphin spottingtrips, and visits to Dudhsagar waterfall and nature reserve, Anjuna market in the north for bargains galore (Wednesday’s only), the historic houses, and the spice plantation tour where you can feed/wash/ride an elephant! All arranged through Franko who also has access to an air-conditioned car for longer journeys. There are plenty of notes and guides to local attractions left by the owners to help you make the most of your stay. We went at Christmas which is just as popular in this catholic part of India as it is here. It was lovely to see all the ‘cribs’ (Nativity scenes on a grand scale) by the roadside made by local groups unveiled on Christmas Eve. We had a curry on the beach for Christmas Dinner  Final note - Be prepared to haggle!
