Perfect location, beautiful neighborhood.
Loved this home, the neighborhood is charming. Beautiful tree lined streets with Victorians and Craftsman style homes. Great food is just a few blocks walk away. The house is decorated in mostly IKEA furnishings, that are all perfectly functional. The bath tub is fabulous, old fashioned large claw foot tub. Air conditioning works great. The only upgrade I would request is a stereo to plug phone or MP3 player into for music. Downtown is a 15 minute drive give or take depending on traffic. Would definitely recommend and/or return here.

Very clean with a lot of room
We enjoyed our stay. Everything was there that we needed. High clawed tub may not be good for the elderly is the only negative we could see.

Quiet Bungalow in convenient neighborhood
I stayed at this home for 4 nights with my friend for an extended weekend holiday. The photos are pretty accurate of what you will be getting. It's a duplex with a master bedroom at the top floor. Please note that there is no door to this bedroom, it's basically in a converted attic space. There are 2 other beds on the ground floor next to the dining area. I love the cute IKEA furnishings and well stocked kitchen. My friend and I were so happy to have pots and cooking tools to make breakfast after stopping by the Saturday farmer's market and Antoinelle's cheese shop. There is a laundry room outside of the house that is located in a separate garage. Bring your own detergent and flashlight. Pete was super helpful throughout the booking process.

A lovely home away from home!
The listing for this property was very accurate. Hyde Park is a lovely residential neighborhood. The unit was extremely clean and nicely decorated. The upstairs bedroom was spacious with a large amount of closet space and plenty of lighting. The queen mattress was extremely comfortable. The stairs leading to that bedroom are narrow, but very solid and secure. The living room was great. It has a huge sofa, large coffee table, and two desks for computers/games, etc. The TV is a modern flat panel HD model. The kitchen was very spacious. While there is no automatic dishwasher, the large double sink and plastic dish drain allowed us to easily keep up with the dishes--and we typically ate 1-2 meals a day at the rental. Scrubbers, dish soap, and dish towels were all provided. The kitchen had a full-size refrigerator with a Brita pitcher. Most utensils were provided, as well as salt, pepper, and dry goods left by the the owner or previous renters that made it easier to use. The only items lacking were bakeware, such as a pizza pan and a 13x9 pan, which would have been helpful. The laundry facilities are in a detached garage. We came prepared with laundry soap and dryer sheets, but if you get lucky, there might be some left in the laundry room for community use. The easiest access to the laundry is through the door facing the back yard instead of the street, since the overhead light is visible at that entrance. The bathroom had a modern toilet and sink with a nice mirror, and plenty of very absorbent towels. The tub is an old-style claw-foot tub, which can be either very charming or a bit of a challenge, depending on your height, age, or any disability. We managed, but it was our least favorite feature of the house. If you love the idea of long soaks in a deep tub, then you will be thrilled. We did not use the back room of the rental, which contained a dinette with seating for four, as well as an oversized day bed and a regular twin bed. Be sure to visit Quack's Bakery and the businesses at 43rd and Duval. The staff at Antonelli's were great, and we enjoyed a dinner at Hyde Park Grill. For the best prices, if you have a car, go to H-E-B for groceries. Central Market was also very good but a bit more expensive, and Fresh Plus the most expensive and smallest. Pete was a wonderful landlord and very responsive to my many questions before our stay. We would definitely rent from him again if we returned to Austin.

Better than a hotel
We stayed here for three nights and have nothing but good things to say about the experience. The house was nicely furnished (all from IKEA haha) and I loved that the kitchen had pretty much anything we needed to cook-- silverware, pots and pans, dishes, even olive oil (hate having to buy that every time). Bed and couch were both super comfy. Convenient to lots of great stuff in Austin and the neighborhood it's in is adorable. Would definitely recommend staying here instead of an overpriced hotel.

Fantastic place to say - we loved it
The place looks as clean and fresh in person as it does on line. It was immaculate and had everything we needed. We stayed here while looking for a home and enjoyed the ease of not needing to bring dishes/cookware/hairdryer etc with us. The neighborhood is very quiet and safe and it was fun to stroll around and walk to restaurants in the area - also a 30 min walk to the UT campus. Parking was never an issue either. Pete was great, very friendly, always responded quickly to our questions, and when there was a minor issue with the stove, he addressed immediately. We stayed for 2 months and would have stayed longer had we not found a house. We will highly recommend Pete's properties to friends and family who want there own place when they visit.

Charming austin House
This was a perfect house for our long weekend in austin! The house was super clean, safe and only about a 10 min drive down to sixth street ($15 cab ride). The owner was also helpful and friendly during the booking process, as well as before check-in / after check-out.

Great Two Week Stay in austin
Had the pleasure staying in the B Unit of this property while in austin visting our son. Great location - within walking distance of a number of fantastic restaurants/stores! The rental is situated in a quiet upscale neighborhood. Unit had all of the amenities one could want and the property is well maintained, clean and spacious! Having a laundry was a real plus and area parking was readily available and not an issue. Pictures accurately represent this property and we would highly recommend staying at this property for your austin stay (we intend on staying here again the next time we're in town). The owner is a phone call away in the event he's needed and lives within walking distance. A great stay and we look forward to our stay in this property in the future!

Fantastic Stay
I rented from Pete so that my family could stay close to my apartment while they were in town. The place was clean, peaceful, and nicely decorated, and my parent's enjoyed having the space and the ability to cook breakfast for themselves at a fraction of the price it would cost to stay in a hotel. I will definitely recommend this apartment to future visitors!

About the neighborhood
Hyde Park is one of the most coveted neighborhoods in Austin. You'll be right in the middle of central Austin next to all of the exciting attractions, but also be in one of the quietest locations. The large trees and many historic homes make this a great place to walk, jog, or bike around at any time of the day. Walk a few blocks and you can be having breakfast at Quack's, one of the best locations in Austin for coffee and cupcakes, or eating at any of the several restaurants nearby (ASTI, Mother's Case, Julio's, Hyde Park Bar and Grill), take a walk to the local park and enjoy tennis, basketball, swimming, or playground for the kids, or even to a local museum. Don't want to walk or bike? The bus route is one block away and will take you almost anywhere in the city for $1!
