We loved this charming house in an old neighborhood in Kyoto. Craig was wonderful with information about the area and many useful updates throughout our stay. The house is in a good location, within 5 minutes walk to major bus stops and the Keihan Main line. The beds were very comfortable and the whole place gave off a nice calming vibe.

Villa in Kyoto
We stayed in Craig's Villa for 5 nights with 3 couples.
The space works well for 6 people with ample common areas for this many people.
Villa is comfortable and well equipped. Laundry came in handy as we had been on the road for a while.
Location is great being close to the station but still in a quiet area.
Local shops and restaurants are very good and we found we did not need to venture far to get a feed.
We would certainly stay here again and will recommend it to our friends.

Great family holiday
Our family of 5 including 3 young adults, had a fantastic stay at this villa. Beautiful. Japanese in style with everything provided for a family. Lovely space with nice light, all the facilities a family could use, quiet but very central in Kyoto, near the canal and the river and bike hire and old Kyoto Craig was very helpful and welcoming. A handy cafe just nearby with good coffee and a range of good food.
Thus could not have been better. Thanks heaps

A fantastic place to stay in Kyoto
We loved our recent stay at Gojo Villa for my brother's wedding in Kyoto. The Villa was beautifully furnished, comfortable, well-equipped and very roomy for the 5 of us. The inclusion of Netflix was a great bonus for my 3 and 5 year olds after a busy day sightseeing! The host Craig was very welcoming and full of great tips for making the most of our stay. The Villa is located in a quaint, quiet area which was perfect for exploring and close to transport. We would highly recommend Gojo Villa.

Great house, great location
We really enjoyed our stay of 12 days at Kyoto-Gojo Villa, which is a comfortable, well equipped and sensitively restored traditional Kyoto townhouse. The location is ideal: near restaurants, shops and public transportation and yet in a quiet secludedlane off a beautiful canal. The futons in two of the bedrooms were exceptionally comfortable, as was the Western style double bed in the third. The kitchen was well equipped with new appliances and utensils. And there were nice traditional Japanese touches throughout. The owner could not have been more helpful: quick to respond to any of our queries, leaving us kitchen basics to welcome us and sharing his local knowledge of restaurants and Kyoto life. Highly recommended.

This is the place to stay in Kyoto!
I must say that my husband and I were so very impressed with Craig's villa! It was everything that we had expected - from the overall cleanliness, amenities and location, (as it was well within walking distance from many shops and restaurants)! It was very easy to find as Craig gave very precise directions. He was also a gracious host, as he made sure that we were well taken care of. The villa was very spacious as we were travelling with 3 other people and everyone had their own space. It was indeed, "A Home Away from Home" and would highly recommend renting Craig's beautiful and new villa!!
Thank you Craig for making us feel so comfortable!

Exceptional Stay in Kyoto-Gojo Villa
Wow...what can we say? Craig's hospitality and beautiful accommodations blew us away! My husband and friends had the privilege of staying at Craig's Machiya on our first and not last visit to Kyoto. We were welcomed into his traditional home the true Japanese way... a bottle of saki, kitkat maccha green tea, personalized welcome note and a well cleaned, elegant home. The accommodations comfortably housed 5 people, equipped with all essentials necessary for nestling oneself into a place soon to be called home for one week. When you chose to venture out, you could be sure Craig would have provided you with a pocket wifi, so you can explore his list of recommended restaurants, sightseeing attractions, and traditional Japanese activities to attend. We so enjoyed our visit to Kyoto and surrounding areas. We especially felt cared for when Craig extended an invitation to meet us personally to answer any questions and address any concerns we had during our stay. We will surely share our positive experience with others of our stay in Japan and our great host Craig. Thank-you! Hubert & Michelle

Amazing house, perfect location
Craig's house was beautifully designed and we later found out was modeled off a traditional Japanese hiiragya. We were travelling as 3 couples and found the house very comfortable and spacious with all modern conveniences including Netflix.
The location is in a beautiful area alongside a canal. There is a fantastic cafe a short walk away with views of the river and amazing coffee. In fact the house is walking distance to many great restaurants and the famous geisha district.
We were very lucky that our host Craig was able to show us all the local places, so if he offers to give you a tour, I highly recommend you take him up on his offer! This house really made our stay in Kyoto one of the best in Japan.

Thoughtfully designed and in a great location, the house worked well for a small (quiet) group. Craig was an excellent host and shared his passion for the town, and was generous with his local knowledge.
