One cannot get anything better. Kenta is the most wonderful host one can imagine. Warm, reliable, generous. After living in his amazing house for five months, from October to January, we just feel homesick for our stay in Kyoto. The house is in s very nice neighborhood, ten minutes walk to a stunning lake and three minutes from the subway and buses. If you want to go to Kyoto, Kenta is the best host we ever had in our 60 years of life.

The vacation house has very peaceful and beautiful surroundings. It is 10 minutes away from a subway. But anyway the best possibility to enjoy Kyoto is by bicycle. Every necessary amenity is available and the owner of the house is very friendly and supportive. My best staying option I had by far till now. Only tolerance that is required to fully enjoy this place is the tolerance of noticeable footsteps from upstairs. ありがとうこざいました

We had a very lovely 6-day holiday in Kyoto. On arrival, our fabulous host Kenta picked us up from Kitayama Station (which is on the Karasuma Subway Line - 16 minutes from Kyoto Station). The house is an interesting 15 minute walk from the station with a short steep hill at the end. We had exclusive use of the beautiful ground floor flat with Kenta and his family living separately upstairs. Facilities were excellent, including the free use of bicycles. Kenta even found a small bike and helmet for our 8 year old son - arranged beforehand. There is lots of interesting activities locally (botanical garden, shrine, river walk) as well as good shops, cafes (Radio Bagel was a favourite) and restaurants. All in all a very peaceful retreat from the more touristy areas of Kyoto. Kenta and family - thank you so much for being so helpful!

This vacation rental was everything I could have asked for and more. The house is perched on a hill. Although the walk up is a little challenging, it is definitely doable and a great exercise! In fact the walk back was beautiful with many farms, lovely autumn colours and lovely houses. The area is away from tourist crowd but close to many facilities. Many cafes, restaurants and pattiseries. The house itself has everything you would want. You can even cook and do laundry! It’s a charming place. Kenta and family are so kind and accommodating. I felt like I was living in Kyoto, not just a visitor or tourist. I definitely recommend it. I am definitely coming back. Things to do nearby: - explore the different ways out from the house to the main road (I did not do enough of this as I stuck to mainly one route!) - explore the restaurants around eg the soba restaurant, the beef barbecue place (it has halal menu) - must try the bagels, scone and muffin at radio bagel (I bought 10 bagels to bring home and freeze. Yes it is that good! ) - there are many pattiseries around .... try all of them. - explore the botanic garden (I only saw the place on my last day! 😱🤦‍♀️)

The other reviewers have done a great job of highlighting what a wonderful host Kenta is, the beauty of the location, the many amazing bakeries nearby -- all I can echo. We arrived late on a Sunday, and Kenta was very kind and provided some breakfast items so we didn't have to go shopping the first thing the next morning. My niece and I were there during the heatwave of a century, and blessedly there was airconditioning that was quiet but effective. On the plus side we were there for two major festivals of Tanabata Star Festival and Obon, both of which were great ways to connect with people in the city. I wasn't clear about the sleeping arrangments, but there was a double and a single in the bedroom, which worked out just great. The only tip I can add to the many helpful ones already provided by other reviewers is that the nearby temple of Enstuji is worth checking out -- beautiful garden, and the no photography/tours rule assures it doesn't have the crush of visitors that so many of the other temples do.

Kenta and his family who own this property, could not have done more to make our stay in Kyoto so special. The apartment is thoughtfully equipped with everything we needed for our week’s stay (and more, so would be perfect for a longer stay too). There was plenty of space for the three of us (all adults). The location of the apartment is very convenient for access to Kyoto’s efficient transport network, two stations are within 15 minutes walk and Kenta provided bicycles which were very useful too. The surrounding area is quiet, but for us it felt good to be able to retreat from the bustling city in the evenings. We highly recommend this apartment to anyone wishing to visit Kyoto.

We arrived late at night and took a taxi to the location. We where meet by Kenta who showed us around. You have everything you need including a washer/dryer. Kenta took us by car to the store so we could pick up a few items and showed us where the local stores were. You are minutes from the underground and an awesome bakery. Kenta also had info on where to go and how. We really enjoyed our time there and all the space in our self contained apartment. You have the whole bottom floor which has several patio doors so you have lots of light and can walk out into the backyard. The walk home is steep but it was definitely doable. If you have issues a taxi up the hill is reasonable. Thanks Kenta and family!

We really enjoyed a relaxing week here during the autumn foliage. There's an electric train within walking distance to the north that will take you to Kurama, a beautiful mountain village with a temple, cable car, and hot spring spa. Or the subway is 20 minutes walk south and then you can access all of Kyoto's sights. We biked down the river to Nijo Castle and again another evening to go out to dinner at Les Dex Garcons- delicious, French bistro. The restaurants in Kitayama were great. Because we live in Asia, we tend to go to Western restaurants whilst on vacation. We recommend all we tried: Shinshindo bakery for our daily baguette, Radio Bagel for pumpkin bagels, Indian food from Chandre, Japanese Udon noodle restaurant next to Perfect World, and Touyoutei's pizza and steak. We loved being able to walk home at the end of the day for 20 minutes and be out of the city. The apartment is up a very steep hill, though. We liked the exercise and it gave us an excuse to eat more... I think it also deterred us a few times from going out to dinner, so that saved money in a sense. The kitchen has all you need to cook.

The guest house is located up a road that is well lit and safe for walking. One could also call a taxi if the walk was too long (less than 1/2 mile). The train station is convenient and there are nice restaurants shops, cafes and a supermarket nearby. The kitchen has everything needed to cook. There is a nice bathroom with a good tub and shower, a washing machine and a comfortable bedroom. Kenta was a wonderful host doing everything he could to make our stay enjoyable. His family with two small children are upstairs so family life is audible but not disturbing. We would definitely recommend this guest house.

Perfect accommodation for my son and myself. A fantastic location in Kitayama north of Kyoto city. A quiet village with friendly locals. The accommodation was spacious, spotless and very comfortable. Our host Kento was great. He met us at the station on our first day, provided bicycles for our use which we did not need as the walk down to the underground station passed through the village and was a very present walk.Kento also gave us great information on the local area and in other interesting places in Kyoto. I would recommend this accommodation if you like to have a peacefully retreat after a hard day's sightseeing in Kyoto. Thank you to KENTO and his family for making our stay so perfect. M&E
