Villa Rudi has all three and more. Villa Rudi is an exceptional, luxurious fully air-conditioned, 2 bedroom, 3 bathroom villa. It was built in 2016 and is situated in a unique and serene setting amidst the olive groves and pine trees in the beautiful mountain village of Islamlar. Great To Be Back
We had previously visited Villa Rudi three times before Covid restrictions, and then booked and had to cancel our planned holidays in 2020 & 2021. So it was great to at last manage to return for our fourth visit. Why? Because if you’ve found somewhere that you love as much as Villa Rudi, why go anywhere else. Fabulous Villa, immaculately maintained and serviced, and great views from upstairs balcony, all as my previous reviews. Kalkan 20 minutes away, the last section of road which a certain reviewer took exception to is now surfaced, and the nearby Village Restaurant as great value and welcoming as ever. We could never make up our mind which part of the day we loved best in this beautiful location. The wonderful mornings with only swallows chirping and cockerels crowing to break the silence, usually lovely breezes through the day with slightly lower temperatures than in Kalkan, and again the peaceful evenings. And as all our previous visits & reviews, Rudi himself and his lovely family. IF🤔there was ever a problem with anything, Rudi is on hand to sort out. Rudi makes your visit feel special. Thanks again for your special friendship Rudi which we treasure. So all in all, a five star experience, which we totally recommend.

Great villa in rural hills of Islamlar
We stayed 10 nights at Villa Rudi through Ilios Travel. The villa is comfortable, stylishly decorated and well appointed - aircon in all main rooms, 3 bathrooms, nice open plan kitchen / dining / living room. All appliances (dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, oven etc) are working without issues, the Pool is clean and all terrace furniture in good order. The owner Rudi is a local and he and his family live nearby and can pop over within minutes to help - we had a rain storm and they quickly folded the parasols and put our washing inside without us even asking. Rudi is also happy to provide local information and arrange taxis etc. The surrounding land is farmed by said family, and they turned out to be absolutely adorable, giving us free vegetables, grapes and figs from their garden. There are also goats, chickens and sheep, completing the rural theme. The mum also bakes her own delicious flat breads which she delivered to order to the villa (for a reasonable Price). Note the price of this rural tranquility is that the villa is accessed through 3/4 mile of single track untarmaced road, quite steep in some places. it’s manageable (and not unusual for Islamlar, which is built along the mountain) but maybe worth noting for less confident drivers.

A Rural Turkish Delight
Our third annual holiday in Villa Rudi. When you find somewhere as good as this, why go elsewhere? We enjoy it more each year. It's difficult to find anything new to say about beautiful Villa Rudi and the lovely area of Islamlar and harbour town of Kalkan. Before we travelled, we looked back at our, and all the other 5 star reviews, just to remind ourselves, and we were absolutely shocked at the criticisms levelled in the last review of November. We still can't believe. The main criticism seems to have been the road. Well, there is a good surfaced public road to approximately one kilometre from the property, and then an unsurfaced road which won't trouble any competent driver. And then Villa Rudi itself. Absolutely beautiful and faultless. Yes Rudi's parents and brother have houses to the rear, and also Rudi himself who got married last year. These lovely friendly people value your privacy, and we are privileged to have met them. We just wish that we could say more than hello to them! And as for Rudi himself. Rudi will go out of his way to make your holiday the best. Any problem at all, Rudi will sort out. So back to Villa Rudi. A perfect rural villa only twenty minutes from lovely Kalkan, and with the Village Restaurant five minutes away for great value and delicious food. So finally thanks again Rudi, for your friendship and care and yet another memorable holiday. See you next year.

This Villa should come with a health warning!
If you don't mind risking your life (and that of your family) on a treacherously steep dirt track with several hairpin bends then don't let me put you off this villa. We met the owner Rudi in the village of Islamar, which we drove through twice not realising it was a village! We followed Rudi on his scooter to the villa, my god, I have been in some remote places and stayed at many villas in the sticks with poor service roads however the journey to this one will NEVER be forgotten! My wife was physically shaking by the time we eventually got to Villa Rudi, and I'm NOT exaggerating because so was I although I didn't want her to see as I knew I had to re navigate it again! Even though I appeared to race up the dirt track we still managed to lose Rudi on a couple of occasions. I soon realised that you had to drive reasonably quick so as not to lose any momentum which would be catastrophic! Rudi introduced us himself once at the villa and I'm pretty certain he could tell that we were physically shaken by the journey. He showed us around the villa which was still being cleaned by his family, Rudi had agreed to allow us to arrive a couple of hours earlier than the scheduled time of 4pm. The villa was bright and airy, if a little sparse and cold feeling, but it was very clean and the views down the mountain were beautiful. You could even see the bay on a clear day. That evening we decided to go to Kalkan as we really had no choice without any provisions! I was somewhat worried about the journey not so much down in the daylight but returning in the pitch black! I carefully navigated the steep inclines and hairpin bends down towards the village only sliding a couple of times on the loose dirt and stones, phew! We returned to the villa after our evening meal and shopping around 10pm. The journey up the dirt track was horrendous! I couldn't keep up any speed because I only had the headlights to assist navigation. Twice on the journey up I lost momentum/speed and was forced to stop the car sliding on the gravel/dirt. The track was so steep the car would not commence to go forward the wheels merely spinning out of control, we were both terrified. I asked my wife to get out of the car to guide me to roll backwards in order to get some traction on a less steep section. When my wife got out of the car we realied that I was only 18" from the edge of an almost vertical drop!!! My wife guided me backwards in the pitch black, holding onto the car as if she could stop it getting any closer to the edge! After rolling approx. 20 yards or so we managed to get the car going forward, my wife got back in and we set off again trying to pick up enough momentum to get through the hairpins without slowing down too much. The same thing happened to us on the last hairpin from the top! To be perfectly honest we almost left the car where it was and walked the rest of the way however we had no torch let alone walking boors which were needed. Again after very carefully rolling back several feet I managed to navigate the rest of the way. What a great relief to arrive at our villa glad to be alive, no exaggeration! The following day we informed both Rudi and Vivien (Director of Turkish Villa Holidays who we made the booking) of our harrowing experience. We requested to be moved to another villa as it was too dangerous. Some time later they informed us that all their other villas were occupied or closed down for the season so we would have to stay where we were! As a gesture of goodwill they offered us a taxi service for 5 return trips. I requested more however was refused. After discussion with my wife we agreed to stay in during the day and utilise the taxi to go out for our evening meals. Not ideal as we had paid £250 for a hire car that we couldn't use! That evening the taxi driver Gokhan collected us at 6pm to take us to Kalkan. He was lovely and we can highly recommended him. We agreed he would pick us up at 10.30pm and take us back to the villa. To our absolute amazement Gokhan used a different route to return to our villa. It was a fair bit longer but certainly not as hazzardous. We asked him why he returned us using a different route to which he replied, in broken english, the road/track to go down was too dangerous to come back up as it was very steep!!! Even with his knowledge and experience, having used both routes on many occasions. I immediately felt vindicated as to our response to the totally unacceptable conditions. We continued to use Gokhan as agreed. During the day we chilled out by the pool, which was freezing and not usable, it was late October after all. We were quite surprised to find out that Villa Rudi was not as secluded as we were led to believe, in fact Rudi's family lives directly behind and Rudi himself has a villa to the right slightly higher than his rental property. His brother has another villa adjacent to his. In fact because they overlook your pool area they have erected a huge screen to the side of the property to improve privacy. In my opinion this detracted from the openess and views. There were several other villas being built lower down the mountain so be prepared for construction noise being carried out during your chilled relaxing days by the pool! We never realised that Turkey has a wasp problem, but it does, we were constantly wafting them away from us whilst trying to sunbathe. On our first day we took our salad to eat on the table by the pool, this lasted about 3 minutes and finished our meal in peace inside. Finally be prepared to listen to Rudi's family's goats and chickens (cockerals) and nearby dogs barking throughout the day and night. Enjoy your stay.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review of Villa Rudi. We are very sorry to read your comments and 1* rating, as you can imagine, especially as all other comments are 5* and the direct feedback we also receive is excellent. We understand and accept this is your personal opinion and review of course, but we are very sorry you did not enjoy your stay as much as our other guests did. Hundreds, if not thousands, of guests stay in or visit Islamlar properties, shops and restaurants each year without experiencing this level of concern with the village roads. We did advise you prior to your arrival that the village roads were being worked on while the council installed new village services, but that this only affected the last km or so. If you would like to discuss your stay further, please contact us and we will be happy to discuss it with you. We hope you return to this wonderful area of Turkey soon and have a more enjoyable stay next time. Thank you.

Relaxing holiday in beautiful villa
Not long returned from a two week stay at Villa Rudi where we had a great time. The villa is fantastic, so well equipped, it contains everything you need. The views down over Kalkan are beautiful. Surrounded by farmland, the location benefits from peace and quiet and complete privacy. Rudi and his family were so helpful and made themselves available whenever needed. Midway through our stay, they carried out the most thorough clean through of the villa possible. It was immaculate afterwards! It was our first time to the region. Kalkan is approximately 20 minutes drive downhill. Near to the villa are some local shops and restaurants about 5 minutes drive - you could walk this, but the villa is on a mountainside so the terrain is steep in places. We chose to use taxis throughout. Gokhan, our taxi driver offered a great service and took us everywhere, prices were reasonable. Patara Beach wasn’t too far away, waves were strong though and quite dangerous. Beach clubs are a great alternative and we found them much safer. Our favourite day out was a private boat hire with Pala Boats organised by Rudi. We had a fantastic time away and have returned home extremely relaxed. Thanks to Rudi and his family for the lovely villa experience, and also for helping to organise us throughout our time in Turkey.

Dream holiday
We enjoyed every minute of our stay here! Rudi and his family did their best to make our holiday unforgettable! Nothing was too much, even when I needed a medical help, Rudi left his work and brought us to the hospital and stayed with us till the end! We are grateful for all fruit and vegetables the family kindly brought to us, fresh from their garden! The cake which they baked and brought to us one evening was delicious!! The villa is exactly as in the pics and even more beautiful! Pure luxury, sparkling cleanness and breathtaking views.. What makes this villa unique, is the 100% privacy, you won’t be seen or disturbed by anyone! The restaurants on the mountain are much cheaper and more authentic than in town ! Don’t hesitate to book this villa and you won’t regret !

Absolute stunning location and unrivaled privacy
This is a luxurious villa! The Villa was lovely and spotlessly clean and very well equipped. The outside area was fabulous with lots of space, plenty of furniture and comfy sun-beds and a view to die for. Rudi was very helpful from the initial booking, transfers and any information we needed to know about the villa and surrounding town. All in all, a wonderful holiday in a fabulous villa, to which we are very much looking forward to returning to next year.

Second Visit, it just gets better!
As mentioned in our review of a year ago, having never previously returned to a holiday rental in many years of self catering, we have now just returned from our second visit to Villa Rudi after another fabulous holiday. Nothing changes. Villa Rudi is a five star experience, our second visit having enhanced our enjoyment of the villa itself and the area. And of course Rudi will look after you from your first contact until you leave as a friend. So with nothing more to add to last year's review, apart from again totally recommending, we can only advise Rudi's future father-in-law's small local supermarket where you can get virtually anything, and costing less than Kalkan's supermarkets, and the 'Village' restaurant for fantastic value food and where Orhan and Uger will look after you. We also recommend Soner's Maya boat trip from Kalkan, a really great day out, and treat yourself to a haircut, shave and massage from Ilkan in Lady Diana barber shop. We have found the perfect holiday for 'us'. From the lovely wanders, shops (better quality than market but still great value), and restaurants in nearby Kalkan, to the sights and sounds of the country around Villa Rudi, and then the total silence in the evening. Not forgetting the delicious and better value restaurants only a few minutes drive away. Villa Rudi provides all this and we can't wait to arrange next year's holiday with Rudi, the perfect host, and where his whole family made us so welcome.

Relaxing stay at Villa Rudi
Positioned high up in the mountains with spectacular views Villa Rudi didn't disappoint. Clean and modern villa with a lovely pool. Villa Rudi offers peace, tranquility and privacy, just what we wanted. A car is recommended but taxis are reasonable. Patara beach was stunning, one of best best beaches we've been to and wasn't busy. Small charge for admission which helps maintain the high standards and protection of the turtles that lay their eggs there. Rudi the owner of the villa is always on hand for advice and will go above and beyond to ensure your stay is comfortable and enjoyable. Kalkan is twenty minutes away by car and offers many traditional restaurants, supermarkets and lovely cobbled streets with small retailers. Family run boat trip on Sea Bella is highly recommended. Delicious lunch and afternoon tea. Kalkan is less busy than the bigger areas but that's it's charm, that and the Turkish people.

Incredible Experience
If you want to spend some quality time high into the green mountains, then Rudi villa is a perfect option for you. I spend a week in Rudi villa with my wife in April, and i had a wonderful experience there. The villa is absultely fantastic, located in a unique place and is equiped with everything you would need. The host Mr. Rudi himself is an amazing person, as he treats you special and is very helpful. Note: The road from Kalkan to Rudi villa is 7-8km, uphill into the beautiful mountains, however the road has some risky curves and is broken at some places, making the drive a little challenging.

About the neighborhood
Kalkan Kalkan is an elegant harbour town set in the heart of the old Lycian region. It is relatively cosmopolitan with wonderful restaurants and great places to stay. The Taurus mountains provide a stunning backdrop whilst the views across the bay are remarkable. This beautiful and sophisticated bougainvillea covered harbour town is set in a breathtaking landscape in the heart of the Turquoise coast. Tourism is still relatively new in Kalkan with the first visitors being yachtsmen who discovered the delights of the harbor and the town in the late 1980's. Strict conservation laws have ensured that the heart of the old village retains and authentic ambience that attracts ( according to the Sunday Times ) the sort of visitor who might also be enchanted by say Tuscany or the Dordogne. The result is a discerning mix of predominantly British guests tegother with Istanbul Turks attracted by Kalkan's reputation within Turkey.
