Rod met us at the airport and within 20 steps we were in our rental car (included) and following him to our accommodation, passing many cows grazing on the roadway and roosters scurrying up hillsides en route. A quick introduction to our home for the stay and its features - which had all the inclusions one could want. Internet (a couple hours complimentary time), dishwasher, washing machine and dryer, TV, etc. The gardens were flowering and enhanced the immediate house surrounds, and contained some basic herbs such as parsley which was appreciated. The hosts provided a generous welcome basket of food and refreshments including avocado, tomato, eggs, bread, butter, milk, juice and sparkling wine all of which was consumed over the four days of our stay. The bed was well appointed with nice bedding and accompanying bath linen. We would have preferred a King bed but a small point. The house/cottage is well located on the rim of a caldera forming Ball Bay and the serenity (apart from wild roaming roosters) is excellent. The clear night sky was a wonderful to view with a refreshment in hand, and there are plenty of verandah nooks to sit and enjoy the views around and above.

The view, the view, the view
A wonderful property, in a great location with stunning views from all the main rooms.
Veronika and I celebrated our 30th Wedding Anniversary here, and couldn't have asked for more.
Thank you Rod, I would highly recommend By The Bay to couples or friends visiting Norfolk Island. The property is well appointed with three large double bedrooms.
Don't forget to visit Two Chimineys Winery just up the road.
Absolutely loved our time on Norfolk and a big part was staying at By The Bay

Amazing view
The house has an amazing conservatory that overlooks Ball Bay. The view is just stunning. Bed linen excellent and beds very comfortable. There is plenty of seating inside and outside. A car comes with the property. The house is very private. Probably not a great place for small children as there are steep cliffs that are not fenced but this is all part of the beauty..cows wander past the deck.. view from spa bath is spectacular. Rod and Noelene are excellent hosts and just a phone call away. Plenty of books, CDs games etc. Internet is by $5 per hour vouchers. There is no mobile roaming on your phone, but if you need a sim card you can purchase one..but why not just escape here and "chill out"

Absolutely Amazing!
We stayed at By the Bay for one week incorporating the October Long Weekend 2014. We loved it. It is a very well maintained property with large verandahs, an open fire place, 2 separate living areas, modern kitchen, 3 double bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The main bedroom has a spa bath with a spectacular view of Ball Bay, not only from the bedroom but the bathroom too! The 2 other bedrooms have lovely garden views. All other living rooms in the house have amazing views of Ball Bay. We were met at the airport by the owner with the rental car which is included in the price. The cliff top location is perfect. It wouldn't be ideal for toddlers or small kids, but absolutely perfect for all others. It's not too far out of town, and not too close either - just right! We Would definitely recommend this property to others. It is by far one of the nicest rentals on the island - if not the best.
